Noire Requiem II honestly. I ended up getting one and he is really good. Strong joints and zero QC issues. IMO if you got the others you have to pick up star lord as well. It's one of my favorite sets in my nerd cave

I think should customize this figure. It's a great base and you can tighten up the joints easily and some repainting and washes would do this wonders and maybe even trimming the jacket down to a normal one would help this figure. Plus would make for another Robo customizes stuff video which I always enjoy.

the pink crystal is The Mandalay Gem. Its in Legendary Star-Lord Vol 1. Basically its the only thing in the galaxy that is powerful enough to allow Star-Lord to hurt Thanos but not kill Star-Lord in the process. So think over the counter strength infinity stone.

Don't worry when got a Marvel Select Carnage on Amazon for about £50, as soon as I took it out the box the left leg just fell off, his 1 hand feels like it's wedged in there and if I try to take it out it feels like it's going to snap and to top it all its a pain in the ass to change his head, but, I still love it, it's my boy Carnage.

That's why I stopped collecting these Marvel Select since the movie Ant Man figure. They have very limited range of motion compared to Marvel legends, and sometimes they are so loose they can't even stand up in vanilla pose. If anything, Marvel select is almost just for kids to play with, while Marvel legends are for collectible enthusiasts who enjoy posing action figures.

hey amigo future floor shine works great to tighten up loose articulation ! you can snag it at walmart if you're lucky ! use a dropper to apply, and let each coat dry! look it up, works like a charm

I like you prefer the 6 in figures (ML usually does it enough for me for marvel) but the only MS I like the most are the ones I own which is Venom and Carnage, both are perfect (sculpt, color, coolness) Im lucky because Venom and Carnage were tighter then anything an needed a hairdryer to be able to pose them. MS also has weird articulation points (either many in one spot like the swivel on arm and elbow or not enough in some spots that need it) Great review anyways XD

I have the marvel select Thanos and he was really good joints. They are all ratcheted. Also I have the civil war winter soldier and he has really good articulation but his mid torso joint sucks though. But I've had good luck with marvel select so far. You may want to do the superglue and dremel trick to improve the movement

I don't know Robo, I do not own this figure but maybe you're being a little too hard about it. Is this figure REALLY a piece of shit? Compared to what? Import figures? Marvel Legends? Or the other Marvel Select figures you already have? We usually see a lot of these same problems with the average Marvel Legends, and yet we usually overlook this kind of thing. Don't get me wrong, but I think I'm used to your positive reviews and I wasn't expecting you to be so critical about that figure. And regarding what you said about the dynamism of the figure: I think the EXACT SAME THING about my Marvel Legends Thor (from Age of Ultron). It is well sculpted, well painted, it looks good, it has all the articulation but... you cant really do much with it. It's like you said, "It looks dynamic, but once you try to pose it, it doesn't really work". Keep the awesome work! Greetings from Brazil!

Uh, yeah. Rarely (at least in the past year or year and a half) have we gotten a Marvel Legends figure with this number of incredibly floppy joints. Plus, most Marvel Legends also have more range of motion than this. Plus, there are plenty of other Marvel Select figures that don't have these problems. So yes, it is a piece of shit.

True, but 99% of other figures actually stand up right out of the box. That really, really set the tone for the rest of the review and I hated doing it, but that initial WTF just stuck with it. And then I tried to move on and the gun wouldn't fit right in the left hand, tried to move on. Then that left hand was a nightmare and the became loose. Tried to move on. Then the head and torso movement (or lack of movement) and I tried to move on. Then it just wouldn't pose the way I wanted it to pose. I couldn't move on, it just hit me at every turn. We'll see how I feel after a couple of days and the rest of the crew shows up. Like I said, I hate being negative but for every positive I'd find another negative would creep in.

Wow, so much bashing of Select in the comments. I collect both Legends and Select, my favorite is Select as it looks MUCH better than Legends (most of the time), there's a big difference in sculpture and deco. Select is legally restrained to a certain limit of points of articulation, that's why Legends beats them in that regard. They also have a limited allocation of figures per year, so Legends has a far superior list of characters to choose from. I think Robo got a lemon as my Starlord doesn't have those loose joints, but if that is what he got then he is right at criticizing the figure as harsh as he did, I just don't think it is a "POS", even with the joints as they are, as that is something somehow easily correctable. Original head Black Series Leia? Now that is a POS. One last thing, compare the value of this Starlord with the MCU one we got recently from hasbro, which is great by the way. For basically the same price if you got on the special Robo got, Select gives you these plus items: An extra hand and purple stone (not sure what that thing is), a very cool and large display base and a clear flying stand.

I'm not bashing Select, I'm bashing this figure. And yeah, that Leia was ugly but it could stand on it's own right out of the package. Like I said, I always gravitate towards the positives but actual function outweighs look and number of joints. If it makes me mad as soon as I open it, game over.

Sorry if I didn't worded correctly about the bashing, I wasn't talking about your comments, I was talking about the people that post comments about your video. I never felt you were unfairly bad on Select in general. It actually feels fresh to watch a video like this, with no strings attached, it helps us as customers to make better decisions, so I'm very thankful for that. I guess it depends on what each one of us look for while collecting figures, I prefer look over function, that Leia could have pizza spidey kind of articulation and stand in her toes without help and I would still think it is a POS 'cause of that horrendous head and bad soft goods. I have the same problem you do. I've gotten 2 Marvel Selects, Deadpool and Anti-Venom. Deadpool sucked and Anti-Venom was underwhelming. Select seems to be a love it or hate it line.

what a bummer. I was looking forward to this. But these QC issues are not uncommon. My Disney Store Avenging Cap got his hip joints loose very quickly. The Winter Soldier is also kind of loose. I don't know if this is a factory problem. You should let them know. Maybe could be fixed for the next batch of figures. This is a problem with these type of joints. They have to be very tight. My Mighty Thor has no problems.

The problem I mostly encounter with the few Marvel select that I have is that the hinge in the pelvis is usually frozen and when I use warm water I can some times free the joint but sometime I've had to abandon it all togethe cause it starts to bend the tee joint and that scares the hell out of me. Any suggestions or your knowledge of acceptable tolerances to the tee joint.

I actually had that problem on their movie Hulk and I never got it free because on the comic Juggernaut I tried everything and the arm still snapped off. I'm not sure if Select uses a different plastic or what. Weird.

The Fwoosh Yea it is kinda weird , plastic joint will actually te freeze after sitting awhile.I mostly display my figures on the shelf so Selects larger size makes them pop out rather than smaller figures that just seem to get lost among the others. I like Marvel Lengends and all but seldom do the look as polished as the display pictures or toy fair models, also I've seen plastic shaving hanging off there joints and paint flecks all over them . Despite their flaws I would still like to collect them because of there good choices in classic and obscure characters, however I just can't justify the $20.00 price point with qc issues and what not . If the price were $10.00 that would be in line with there quality. Selects may have some issues but the Abomination figure I have just amazes me that he cost me just around the same price a a legends.

I NEVER like any Marvel Select I buy. I've tried that movie Iron Man and was so disappointed. Got that Deadpool and WANTED to like it but hated it. It really does come down to the engineering though. The sculpts look great but damn, they really cannot articulate these figures for shit.

The only gripe you had I didn't agree on was your bicep swivel with elbow pivot complaint. If the figure isn't going to get double-elbows, I like the pivot because that removed the side holes used for pegs. Shame about how loose the figure is.

This was the only Select Guardian figure that I was iffy on whether or not to grab. I like the jet-boot blasts and the flight stand, but it's just not enough to outweigh the negatives I've been seeing.

I don't know, I'll wait for more reviews to come out before definitively passing on the figure, since it could just be bad luck on your part getting loose joints. Plus, I think I'd always display the figure in a flying pose since there is a stand included. Also, I believe it's unfair to rag on the articulation so much since Selects never had the best articulation. Ah well, thankfully the movie Star Lord is also coming out, just in case all versions of the figure retain the loose joints.

Maybe, but then the rest of the figures in this set came out perfectly fine. I didn't mind the lack of range, which I've had in the past and am okay with, but when a joint (or in this case, more than a few joints) won't even hold their position or the weight of the figure itself, that's a huge problem. But I'm still looking forward to the movie version.

i had the same problem, the figure was really loose like it was years old, the left leg was also slightly longer than the right leg for mine, so he couldn't stand straight up. for me, the biggest let down was his left hand was extremely loose, so loose that if i put the gun in his hand, it fell completely off

Great reviews on these figs. I just picked up a set today. I will say I'm much more of Select guy over Legends. The reason? I feel the Selects look like collectible figures while the Legends look more like toys. If that makes any sense. Yes Legends have better articulation but the Selects have better sculpts and paints. Plus I feel you get much more for 20 to 25 bucks with the Select line. That being said yes they have a bit more QC issues than Hasbro. Hasbro's are more durable but Diamond's look better on a self. Just my opinion.

Judging by the pink crystal, thr pouch he wears on his back, and the look plus the cartoon images on the packaging, I'm pretty sure this is a Disney XD cartoon figure. Although Hasbro nailed thr likeness better this still has that look. Sucks he's a total disaster. The pink rock he can barely hold, the gun that doesn't fit in the left hand, the knapsack that holds nothing and looks awkward, the base that doesn't have a flat spot or foot peg anywhere? Did I talk about rarely having having trouble standing Marvel Legends but if I did, I would call them out in their own reviews? It's not a contest. I'm not choosing sides here. Nope, you didnt talk about how lacking the legends version was.........and I watched your review of the legends star lord and you went MUCH lighter on it. you criticized the select for small errors that the legends didnt even care to attemp or give us it at all. the select was heavier, more detailed and came with a flight stand , base and much more. None of which could be said about the legend--- which is in the SAME price range. the legend skimped BIG and is light and toyish and re-used like most legends. andagain for the SAME price range as the select. To me, having useful articulation that actually works and gets full range of movement is worth more than added useless plastic and mismatched pieces. The two Legends heads actually look like the same character while the Select looks like two completely different people. The Select may come with a base but it's pretty useless, just a chunk of plastic to sit in front of the figures because they can't actually stand on it. He can't hold whatever the pink rock is because the wrist buckles under the weight, so it's a floor ornament too. The Select comes with two guns but can only hold one while the Legends holds both perfectly. The Select knapsack doesn't sit right and doesn't hold anything even though it looks like it was meant to. Most of all, the Legends figure can stand on it's own and get into dynamic poses. The Select comes with a flight stand because it HAS to to be displayed at all. Otherwise it's buckling under it own weight, so the heavier aspect works against it too. The Select costs $24.95 while the Legends costs $19.99. And finally, the Legends Star-Lord has no reuse whatsoever except for the guns. I'm sorry I gave a bad review for a toy you seem to enjoy while giving a good review to a toy you seemingly don't, but again, all I can do is look at the facts and form an opinion. I'm not the end-all be-all say on all of this. If you enjoy it, have a ball. Again, I liked the rest of the set so it's not like I hate Marvel Select. It was just that this figure was not that great. At all.

What is the trick to tightening joints?

It used to be super glue. Dab some on the joint and keep it moving until it completely dries. Downside, you stop moving it too early and it locks the joint. These days a lot of people use Future floor wax. Lot less chance to stick the joint.

Robo is cranky! 😉 First time that I've heard you be so negative and not all lovy-dovy about a figure - so that says a lot about Star Lord. It's not bad to say that you do not like it. The reviews are honest. And if it is a piece of shit, then don't hold back. [I want a video of you losing your cool while you are on helium!!!] The surprise is that it looks good (apart from the french-fry-hair). Also odd that the hair colour and style was so different between tve sculpts. Based on pics, I could easily buy it, but just like you, certain things (floppy joints, inability to stand and weird articulation) can quickly turn inanimate objects into flying projectiles. Will be interesting to see the rest of the figures.

I really do hate doing a negative review. It makes me feel awkward afterwards. But I just open the package and start reviewing, so if something really, REALLY hits me wrong, I react to it right then and there. Can't be helped. And haha, yeah, I don't even know what I would sound like on a helium rant....

Robo, what is your deal on this bro! You have never been so wrong! These are Bitchie boy complaints. This a great take by D Select on the character. I already have a very good Marvel Legends Star Lord. So much so I with held from the Bandai version. And I LOVE Bandai! But after seeing this figure on the REVIEW SPOT, I immediately ordered it! And Gamora! Bro, you lost your sense of wonder on this one.

Diamond Select TOOK my sense of wonder with this one, man. After how nice the rest of the team is, this lump of coal is even more of a disappointment. I'm not saying that everyone has to hate this, but even after all this time the rest of the Select characters are on the shelf while this still sits in a bin. I tried. Several times. It's just too terrible.
