1:10:11 Is there a visual bug here? Lizard's effect should be negated, but the negation icon disappears when Aero moves it. I feel like Specimen missed that, because his play of Killmonger + Debrii only wins mid if Lizard loses power, which it can't. He's -9 in that lane, and the Killmonger is +5 to his side with Angela, and -3 to the opponent for removing Zero. He still loses mid by 1 point, 14 to 15. His opponent dropping anything in right is a win. So why didn't he retreat? He gave up three health for nothing by playing out the snapped final turn in a game he basically never wins.

Got to say that Mogwai had a bad matchup against Freddy's deck. killmong is just so good against his deck. also Mogwai seemed to never draw daredevil, which made a huge impact. Overall, both are amazing players which I am glad are in the community. Also, the games where really polarized because those are the same 2 decks. However, the worst thing for me was the casters during Mogwai and Freddy's match. They just made fun on the situation instead of talking about possible plays, the importance of the initiative, and the reason behind plays that were made. I remember watching some of Mogwai's plays which seemed so smart, and they did not telegraph the reasoning behind them, just laugh at the plays. examples: 1. at the first game between the two, cosmo countered Mogwai's action because Freddy gained the initiative, while they both had 2 power one a single location. The game choose Freddy randomely at this stage to start which made a big impact. 2. Mogwai playing the hood at the left location because he knew this way he could get a demon and also use viper, to add power on a location which is hard to get. 3. Freddy using big power plays in a very clever ways, like using yellow jacket, which is one of the least played cards, to gain initiative on turn 3 and later.

The very first seconds of the video and the trailer also tell you that the underlying ideology here was "gathering strong players from all around the card game community" (we can argue about "the 16 best" claims), so in that way the tournament did what it set out to do. I'm happy about the variety and having recognizable names such as these, as it's worked out better in this case than small, relatively unknown Snap streamers would have.
@aeovid Жыл бұрын
@@ukaszidzikowski2708 I have to disagree. If it was so great, why don’t you see it in Hearthstone? I followed it closely until I switched to Runeterra/Snap. I never saw anything that had them pulling random non Hearthstone people into it. Nothing majorly promotional anyway. Raven knows what he’s doing for sure, and Dekkster is really a Snap guy now. But watching nobody outside the main Snap community playing anything other than the 2 main meta decks was boring to a lot of people who play it. Not only that, they were usually crushed too. So much play with people not understanding mechanics, and half the announcers were clueless. Watch some of the Freddybabes and Hoogland matches. The announcers some times had literally no idea how the cards interacted, yet both are doing so well with off meta lineups. Luckily they did sprinkle in Snap content creators in as well tho. People can learn from those at least.
@ukaszidzikowski2708 Жыл бұрын
@@aeovid They absolutely did if you check out earlier Hearthstone invitationals where the community wasn't as fixed/established (let's not forget that game has been around for a decade by now). And even nowadays they like to hand out card reveals also to places/people that don't cover HS regularly, just to increase their potential reach. It can have good promotional value over only sticking to one sandbox. Sure, it's always interesting to see some less common decks doing well, but if it was a proper tournament without any rule limitations and only deadly stakes, we would've probably seen even more of the meta takes. Or attempts to counter them. But if nobody was bringing meta decks, we wouldn't have known how those other creative options even stack up against them. As far as actual Snap creators go, I thought RegisKillbin might've deserved it more than Frodan for example. And I'm sure you could come up with several worthy candidates; perhaps next time.
