Funfact: Grace Jones was used inspiration for Rogue, specifically her two toned hair, it was planned that rogue would be black, in a confusion the was made white in the final version. That explained why rogue had short hair and a flowing costume. If they go in the direction of rogue being black from Mississippi that be an interesting twist. but I say bring in more comic characters.

The whole point of the X-men was that they were the antithesis of groups like the Justice League, or Avengers. The X-men were more international, ethnic, and even had more female characters too; such as Jean Grey, Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pride, Polaris, Psylocke, and even Moira… When they introduced the all new X-Men, the had; Thunderbird (Native American), Storm (African), NightCrawler (German/Mutate), Colossus (Russian), Sunfire (Japanese), and Wolverine (Canadian/Short)… The X-Men even integrated more female characters in a short amount of time then any other series; Dazzler, Siryn, Blink, Jubilee, Emma Frost, and Firestar… 🤔

First of all, I love your perspective on this. It's not like they're going to blow up established characters and change them completely. I could see some ethnicity swapping for a main character but you're not going to see wholesale changes like gender swaps. That said, playing around with background characters/characters that aren't core to the X-Men lore is not the worst thing in the world. The X-Men have long been viewed as analogous to the Civil Rights Movement and in more recent times, to the LGBTQ community so it makes some logical sense to lean into that in some ways. Representation is important IMO but if you keep it to side characters (unless you're going in a totally bold new direction with a main character or two) then it shouldn't be that big of a deal IMO.

Honestly hopefully this is P.R. For the Pro D.E.I. Groups to act as if they are still on board l, but internally they know that they will keep the characters accurate to their source. Similarly to the “Rooney Rule” in the NFL. Now they are suppose to atleast interview minorities for coaching positions but if a franchise is racist or biased, they can’t force them to hire a diverse person. So basically it just looks and sounds good publicly, but it doesn’t technically change anything. By going to younger actors for the x men then they may as well just make two teams. The older x men which would include the majors with hopefully no idiotic race gender swaps( they are and have always been diverse by design), and the younger new mutants with cherry picked members that you can maybe diversify further if you must (not needed for already stated reasons) but yeah... that would be cool. I collected the New Mutants from no. 1 and am a fan of a good many of the members. They had a few notable villains too I thought.
