The Flash flopped a long time ago at the cinema, yet the director Andrés Muschietti thinks the problem is that the movie didn't appeal to literally everybody. While it's true in this instance, is it even possible to make movies for everybody? Movie budgets have become so bloated that they might think this is a requirement, but isn't the actual solution to reduce the budgets so that they're profitable with the target market? Why is it controversial to even talk about target markets in the first place? And can Hollywood even be profitable until they accept that different shows should be made for different markets? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

Well one reason I did not even bother watching the new flash shows is that was not the barry allen I grew up seeing in the comics. Blonde adult working in the crime lab. Honestly the 1990 tv series did it better then the newest one. Now if you think of it as a alternate universe it's not a problem the character age etc. but then the writing is what makes or breaks it and yeah even though I like the flash I could not watch that show.

The biggest issue they're having is theyre trying to make these movies now appeal to women. We women who are already fans of these movies don't want that...we just want good movies. So, Hollywood can't tell us who a movie is made for, but they can tell us who it's not made for. Then, the process of elimination? No, that doesn't work because they'll still blame those that it wasn't made for for it's failure. Hmm.

Finn from Star Wars should have completed his sacrifice in Episode 8, which would have been a powerful end to his arc, but Rose's interference undermined his journey and left his character unresolved.
@gagatube6 сағат бұрын
Dude, you can't have a male character becoming popular and the actor growing in his role in 'Modern Star Wars'. I'll bet KK was on to that in a flash: "Hello Script-writing? Audience research says Finn is gaining a substantial following and it's growing, so obviously he'll have to die at the end of the current movie. Write in a character to replace him. What? Of course the new character should be female! And while you're at it, make her Asian and gay!"

As a kid born in 1984, I always knew that Transformers was for boys, My Little Pony for girls and Care Bears was for toddlers! That has basically stayed the same, guys love watching giants robots smacking the crap out of each other, it's very satisfying, it's why Gundam is popular among guys as well, though the Real Robot aspect sees it appeal to our love for things mechanical, for construction, machinery and how things work, it's also why Model Kits, Gunpla in particular, are popular, mainly among the dangly bit group, we like building stuff! There is, however, crossover! Not everyone who builds Gunpla is male, jus look at my mate and his wife! They build kits all the time, well, she can, when the crackpot cats aren't nicking the decals, Tamari! The same goes for My Little Pony, jus look at Friendship is Magic and the rise of the "Brony"! They also know who their target audience is, it's jus that it is so well written than jus about anybody can find enjoyment in it, can find something that appeals, that calls out to them! And I understand Lauren Faust has form in that regard as well!

You can make a 4-Quadrant movie (I've heard National Treasure described as such) but it's really hard. It takes a lot of skill, a lot of luck, and you just have to choose the right topic/genre/theme for the movie. In any case, it's very risky to bet 200 million dollars (or more) on getting the formula right. Especially when you start off with so many challenges; Ezra Miller as the star, being part of the flailing DCEU, featuring a weird non-standard Super Girl instead of the version people know and sort-of love, etc...

George Lucas set out to make films that his 8 year-old self wished for. He got lucky and his vision appealed to everyone from 5-65. The important thing, though, is that 8 year-old boys LOVED it. That's how you succeed. By making YOUR VISION, not checking boxes or "maximizing audience".

Back in the 1980s my friends mostly thought Flash and Aquaman sucked. They said they would be dumb in a solo movie and they seem to have been right. So little kids knew what executives don't seem to get. People just don't want these characters, except as co-stars for Superman and Batman

The Flash television show is pretty damn awesome for the first two seasons. When they were actually trying to be in the movies. So that was done well. So it does seem that people do in fact want the flash. And if Aquaman had a better story it probably would have done well. Jason Momoa is hot as hell! We do want the superheroes. We just want them to have good storylines. We went good movies with them in it.

No, they are not right. Both Aquaman films are...decent. And the Flash is interesting with villains like the Rogues. Plus the CW series worked to some degree. Both people and DC are the ones who don't want to live just about Superman and Batman.

I’m really sick and tired of Hollywood’s argument that if a $50 million movie grossed $1 billion then a $2 billion movie will goss 40 billion it’s time to set aside. This will have a big budget so it’s not going to fail. Big budget. Movies can fail and the reason they fail is because no one pays attention to one the audience and what they want and two the subject matter and if there’s any kind of already established lore and if you’re going against that and the third thing a two or three hour movie that is nothing more than a rather expensive light show that gets nauseating overuse of special effects is just as bad as not as lazy, writing and dumbass directors

Idfk why they didnt use the dude from the already popular TV show. Seemed not right to cast a different actor. However, now they can probably use him in the reboot.
@MyAramil15 сағат бұрын
I refuse to watch this movie because the actor, who let me remind you all, had issues such as RECORDED ASSAULTS ON PEOPLE. Police reports for his attacking of people. Plenty of restraining orders against him, Who led police on a nationwide manhunt where he had basically kidnapped a child and their mother to a private ranch, where drugs and firearms where present. Yet despite all of these EVIDENCE BACKED cases WB smiled like they just busted a nut and went "we wont get rid of him!!!!!!!" Meanwhile they fired Johnny Depp on ALLEGATIONS!!!!!

i think the problem with the flash movie is it was far too busy with too many plot points to cover. it works in comic books because its serial and you can take a few issues to cover a story. it works for a tv show because you have at least 8 episodes to cover it. in a movie? best to keep it simpler at the start, you gotta build up to the bigger stories. thats why MCU phase 1 worked. it was 1 big huge story told over 4-6 characters, over like 9 movies.

Reasons why The Flash flopped: -The DCEU was already dead. -Ezra Miller was the Star and i don't want to support criminals who we're pardoned for their identity. -The movie looked like a DESPERATE Spider-Man NWH but about DC. -The film was in the oven since 2018. It's not the fault of Andy, AND ITS NOT OUR FAULT. That film was sadly destined to fail for all of this reasons...not the demographic of the AUDIENCE.

Women being the issue might be correct. After all, they went to go see Aquaman. Muscular, sexy, masculine Aquaman, played by an actor that didn't assault women off-screen. And for some reason, Ezra Miller didn't appeal to them. Hmmm. I have a weird thought- maybe, if you want a movie to succeed, you should pick a lead that has charisma and isn't disgusting.

It's insane to me how much trust people still have in James Gunn for DC. To me, him flapping his mouth just calls in to question if he's trustworthy, and so far, his word means nothing after The Flash, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman 2. All of which he said were such great films, the best ever. In fact, Blue Beetle was going to be the start of his DCU... Some say it's not his fault, it was marketing... Oh sorry, does WB suddenly not have a marketing team!? Just leave it to James Gunn to lie to the audience... Sure that makes sense. People may not have liked a lot of Zack Snyder's vision, but I would at least try to argue that a lot of the problems with the DCEU is the fact that WB can't manage a paper hat, let alone any of their franchises.

What is infuriating isn't that much Ezra Miller, somebody that has to be mentally ill; but the lengths the studio goes to defend him till the point to insult the audience. It shows how much of hypocrites they are and they applaud a guy hitting women if he declares to be of a member of the citizens of the high class of the "oppressed."

People KNOW who the Flash is. But hes boring and unpopular. Its nothing to do with Ezra. It seems like it is Ezra to film geeks but normal people dont know or care who Ezra is. Its just that the Flash is a bad character and the film wasnt good enough to build buzz and good reviews, or in a moment of high popularity of heroes like Aquaman, who succeeded originally despite being a very unpopular character. The failure of Aquaman 2 indicates how people see the character. The Flash tv series was released originally when people LOVED superheroes. It didnt say anything about The Flash being popular. He isnt.

I love all of this. I remember, I never cared about Flash until the first episode of the CW series. I can say the same about Iron Man and even Captain America. Great writing goes a long way. And conversely, I had a woman friend of mine who decided to watch the first Avengers movie. Her reason was because she heard a lot of great things about it. She was disappointed because she said... It's still just a dumb comic book movie. I wanted to shout, what were you expecting?? In fairness, I watched Barbie, and even Wicked, and I know for a fact it wasn't made for me... But I appreciate they were very well made and had some good elements. But I have no reason to ever watch again.
