@@gageunruh3574 Maybe? Did he say that after Secret Wars? It used to be completely true, but because of all the time and universe fuckery in the comics to update stuff (usually not quite full reboots like DC does, but still updating things), it really depends on when things were published. That was his first origin and marvel just kinda glossed over it for years, then from like 2008 to 2015, Thor basically did some necromancy with his own horses because humans ate them. But I don't remember them actually bringing up his origin post secret wars, so it could be either one for all I know. I might have just missed something though.

@@TeamCap623 MCU Thor, no. Wanna know why? Just. Read. Closely. M.C.U Thor, that’s Marvel Cinematic Universe Thor, not any comic iteration, the CINEMATIC one. No he wouldn’t, he’d get crushed, want to know why? Mjolnir is so unbelievably heavy that mythology Thor needs multiple items to even lift it, the gloves Jarngreipr which allow him to lift the heavy hammer in the first place without crushing his hand to a bloody mess, and his belt Megingjord, which double his strength. Both of which MCU Thor doesn’t have. Also, myth Thor is doing this all, WITH ONE FUCKING HAND, due to Loki’s antics as being the God of mischief and trickery, he went to annoy the dwarf in charge of creating Mjolnir, and turned into a fly to annoy Sindri, which accidentally made the handle too short. Thor didn’t mind however and still used it in battle against the world serpent, which would absolutely carve MCU Thor up like chop liver. Wanna know how I KNOW MCU Thor wouldn’t be able to take on the world Serpent Jormungandr? Because Thor wasn’t able to take on a big flying alien from the first avengers movie.
@bearded18yearold
@bearded18yearold Жыл бұрын
@@TeamCap623 I know you wouldn’t read the first one if it was too long so I’m making this a two-parter. And even after Ragnarok, after achieving his full potential, he couldn’t even kill Thanos, and this was after receiving a newer and more powerful weapon. In endgame, he only killed Thanos because not only was he weak from the stones being destroyed and used twice, which would kill any MCU god, and because Thanos allowed it. At the end of endgame, who was it that killed Thanos and put an end to his army? Iron man, he who was given the will powerful enough to use the stones as a human, something which Hulk couldn’t do, who can regenerate from bombings, fought another hulk like being who is stronger than he was at the time (Abomination in the Incredible Hulk) and being beaten to near knocking out. MCU Thor would die under the crushing weight of Mjolnir, hell, even myth Thor would, if he wasn’t so damn resilient. I beat you and proved my points with great vigour, you cried wolf and begged for attention, and bet all money on the big guy without a weapon, while I stood my ground, grit my teeth, and ATE THAT HORSE!

Interesting fact, movie hammer and comic hammer too are differnt. While they both have the worthy feature, they differ in how they stop people from lifting them. In the movies, it's magic you can't lift it impossible. Meanwhile in the comics it gets heavier to the point the person trying to lift it can't. However if something can get stronger faster then the hammer can get heavier, they can then lift the hammer without being worthy. This is why comic hulk can lift it while movie hulk cannot.

@@angelomordini6779 No; well, except with a chariot with flying goats, apparently. I remember a myth of him where specifically he couldn't though, where he wanted to fight Jormungandr; a monster that was birthed by Loki, fated to either kill or be killed by Thor, destroying the world should Jormungandr win- but couldn't get to him because Jormungandr is a sea serpent (THE sea serpent). Thor, wanting to get it over with as soon as possible, disguised himself as a normal human and asked a man with a boat to take him to the middle of the sea. The man figured he was a fisherman, so agreed after he payed him. But as soon as Jormungandr popped out of the water, the man, scared shitless, turned the ship around before the fight could begin, Thor not being able to do anything about it as Jormungandr slowly got smaller as the distance between the two grew. I think part of the story was also the ship man realizing that this was Thor, and if he let him fight Jormungandr, Ragnarok was fated to happen.

Yes in an actual story from mythology the ice giants steal Thor’s hammer from under his pillow, he assumes Loki stole it and went after him. The ice giants reveal themself to Loki who believed it was them and took the form of a bird and flew to them to talk. The ice giant king reveals he wants to hand in marriage to the god that makes the golden apples that make The other gods immortal. In a meeting to discuss with the other gods a gate keepers suggests that Thor dress up like the women the ice giant wants to marry, and get his hammer. He is opposed but literally all the other gods agree. During the feast Thor eats almost all the food and to explain the monsters us appetite Loki says that Thor has been locked in a tower preparing himself for the wedding. In reality Thor just eats a lot. When he gets the hammer back he reveals himself and kills all the ice giants with a swing of his hammer. Loki laughs about seeing Thor dressed like a girl talks about how much of a good trick it was and Thor agreed but said that they shall never speak of this again. Of course it is said that Loki went down to earth and told the story using his shape shifting abilities.

I mean, Loki was dessed up as his handmaiden during that whole adventure, he was just more convincing because he can just legit turn into a woman with magic. Kinda like that time he got knocked up by a horse. Although, to be fair, he did also turn himself into a horse, so it isn't as weird as it sounds.

This is an interesting story but one important note is that it is likely not an authentic Norse story. Many people believe it was created as a parody made by Christians which makes sense because it's antithetical to Norse ideals of masculinity (The Poem of Thrym isn't referenced much in the other sources either, though it's not like Norse mythology have ever been consistent) . And it's not characteristic of Thor either to play tricks like that.

So we read this story as a kid written by Bengali author Sukumar Roy about Thor it is originally titled "Debotar Saja" or "A god's Punishment" in English. I don't know if it is from real norse mythology, but I love the story. So mighty Thor was one day passing by, and he saw a giant snoring and blocking his way. He got angry after the giant didn’t wake up when he commanded it to. So he hit the giant's head with his hammer a several times but the giant woke up and thought some bird doodied on his head. So Thor is now fucking impressed cause well literal mountains fucking get reduced to dust with one single blow from his hammer and he asks the giant how he survived. The giant said well, I'm just tough but there are even tougher and stronger giants in my homeland I'm merely a weak child compared to them. So then blah blah blah he invites Thor to see the giants for himself and Thor accepts. There he meets the giants and the giants then challenge him to a drink off from a huge ass horn, only the super strong giants can finish it with one sip so a contest begins the giant competing finishes his horn with ease but Thor was perplexed when he wasn’t able to even get one forth of the drink down with 3 sips. Then he was brought a cat and the challenge was to pick it up, with all his might he was able to pick one of its claws. The final challenge was to wrestle an old woman and well Thor gets humiliated. Then humbled by the giants he makes his way back to his home. He didn’t sleep that night the next day he goes to talk with the leader of the giants and it was revealed that the horn held all the water of the world and Thor's 3 sips caused droughts and new beaches to appear. The cat was actually the serpent that held the Midgard and the old woman was the embodiment of old age and time. And the giant he hit with his hammer had several invisible mountains covering him. Betrayed by the giants Thor starts spinning his hammer to destroy the whole land where the giants lived. And whoosh, everything disappears right before his eyes. He had to then swallow his anger and go home.

Seems loke a variation of a real myth, in the real one loki was there was well and had to win an eating contest against fire, also the cat was just the world serpent so he lifted a 4th of that. He also could only finnish a 4th of the horn but there he had to do it alone and he did cause droughts and new beaches to appear. In this tale he, loki and a friend of theirs each got their own tests, everyone failed even with 2 to 3 attempts except for loki who at some point won his eating contest. Also, the giant was some type of king and he was so impressed that he called the 3 the scariets beings he had ever seen and so he closed his domajn to them and dissappeared because they could desetroy his kingdom without even trying

In marvel comics Thor's hammer was not so different from mythology being extremely heavy except the hammer in the comic's got heavier if you weren't Worthy which is why hulk was able to wield it in comics cuz his rage which increased his strength grew quicker than Thor's hammer in weight.

N-no they are VERY different, one is a genocidal drunk while to the other is a hero of mankind, one pushed the giants to extinction, the other saved humanity from extinction. One is a FAT DOBBER, the other is Chris Hemsworth lol. All I’m saying is that the marvel adaptation is in no way faithful to the original, and for good reason, the real Thor is basically an agardian hitler.

Also even the Mjolnir is different, Marvel Thor has all his godly powers stored in it where the other has the power of lightning imbued into it which is why he needs Jargripnir which is a pair of magical gloves said to help him maintain grip and immunity to lightning. @@cewla3348 basically thor's powers reside in the extremely heavy hammer forged out of the core of a dwarf star, his belt that gives him super strength to wield that hammer and his gloves, because Loki messed with the dwarf that forged the hammer ans he made the handle shorter that it was suposed to be, so he needs the gloves for better grip and extra power, and it is basically that, yes he would kill you anyway xD
