I have a box of this series 3 too, this video makes me want to tear into it for some of those Holograms! Those boxes have came way down in price too.

This is one of the sets I collected as a kid. Love to look at the artwork, the stats and character info. What determines the Rookie Card status?

Yeah it's one of my personal favorites too. The rookie card status is currently determined by the first time the character was featured on their own card, with stats and background info (ie spotlighted like an athlete on a sports card). There is some debate on this, but as a general rule, that's the widely accepted characteristic of a Marvel/DC characters official rookie card.
