This is a play-through using 2nd form Abyss in the Dreamcast version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Read on below for more information...
2nd form Abyss is the boss you fight against on the final stage of this game in Arcade Mode, and comes in 3 forms. He is an unplayable character.
===== About 2nd Abyss =====
Abyss is an original character designed by Capcom specially for MvC2. A lot of people have mistaken him on being a "Marvel" character, but he isn't. Instead, he's actually on the Capcom side.
His 2nd form has him appear as a green liquid-like substance shaped in the form of a semi-humanoid, with an arm cannon. This form is called the Guardian.
Gameplay-wise, 2nd Abyss is a very effective character. His Beams inflict high energy depletion and his Large Flame covers a large area of the screen as well as being fast in execution. His best special move is the Bubbles which can easily catch and trap the opponent, and when it does, you've got a free hit with a move of your choice - best used with his Spinning Scatter super (another great move which covers a lot of the screen and inflicts high depletion). His weakness is the fact that he cannot block and that he is a "super armor" character, which means that he eats up projectiles and beams for lunch. He is a small'ish target though.
===== Additional Information =====
---- This time on the versus screen, he has a portrait if he is the 1st character.
---- He has no basic moves.
---- He cannot block.
---- He cannot crouch down.
---- He can jump and super jump.
---- If he is selected as a character on a team, he can call his partner supports.
---- If he is selected as a character on a team with one of his partners being the active character, if the partner tries to call 2nd Abyss in to support, he'll jump in but freeze with some flaws.
---- If he is selected as a character on a team with one of his partners being the active character, if the partner tries to perform the team super involving 2nd Abyss, he will jump in but freeze with some flaws.
---- If you tag out with him, he just jumps away with his stance sprite.
---- If you tag him in, he'll do his arm weapon motion when he lands.
---- If you have enough super gauge and 2nd Abyss is the active character, trying to perform a Team Super (A1+A2) will freeze him in his stance.
---- Performing a F,D,DF + [HP] motion with him will lock and reset the game. It could be an unfinished move or a case of the motion leading into flawed data.
--- If he is defeated, he doesn't transform into 3rd form Abyss. Instead he just disappears like any other defeated character.
---- On the winning screen, if he is the 1st character he has no portrait. However if he's the 2nd character in the middle or the 3rd character at the back, then he has Ryu's portrait.
===== About MvC2 =====
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is one of the best 2D fighting games from Capcom... the game is of course very unbalanced, but when it comes to replayability, sheer fun and mayhem, you probably won't find another 2D fighter that does it better than this. It is a shame that they did not include Apocalypse, Cyber-Akuma and both forms of Onslaught, as that would've completed the roster.
