Even though he was a disposable Spider-Man, it's never easy for me to see the Earth-Z Spidey get his stomach blown up by Sandman. I guess that's more merciful than being turned into a zombie, much to the Zombie Spidey's dismay.

***** According to Marvel Zombies Return, Earth-Z is the birthplace of the Hunger virus, hence the zombified Sentry being teleported to Earth-2149 at the end of the story. Basically the Watcher created a time-loop/paradox. I thought it was a half-assed way to end the story, sadly.

Yourson Isold I suppose so, but you also gotta remember that the Hunger virus made its way to Earth-616 in Zombies 3 and 4. There's gonna be some cracks. ***** From my understanding, Zombies Return was not only meant to conclude the main Marvel Zombies storyline that was set up in Zombies 1 and 2, but also provide answers that readers were asking, mainly where the Hunger virus came from. I still think Magneto's explanation in Dead Days would have been a better way to infect Earth-2149 rather than a zombified Sentry making his way into that universe.

***** He and the Acolytes made a deal with some "thing" (yeah, that's how Dead Days explains it) that would have targeted humans and give mutants a fighting chance for dominance, but the virus also affected the mutants as well. I'm guessing the "thing" Magneto was talking about was the zombified Hank Pym at the end of Return. Then again, Zombies Return was written by a completely different team than those who wrote Zombies 1 and 2, hence why Returns is disappointing as far as the ending is concerned.

The problem is that this line has become way too complicated and convoluted due to its popularity digging out its corpse if you would, way too many times, adding new plot elements that don't quite fit, until it became a Frankenstein's monster of writing. It should have just stayed dead after Returns imo.

I remember first reading the Spider-Man one when I was about 13. Seeing my favorite superhero shooting veins out of his wrist and devouring the Sinister Six is something I can never unsee. Sandman blowing up that Earth's Spider-Man was probably the most horrifying to me.

13:02 Kinda messed up the explanation of the ending there. The Watcher creates a time loop: Sentry is sent back in time to Marvel Zombies 1 to repeat this over and over again. While this dooms two universes, it quarantines the virus from the rest of the Multiverse.

What he's saying is that there is no defined start. According to this ending and the whole infinite loop thing, how did Sentry get infected to begin with? sandman never became infected... and never can. he is basically sand that's in human form, and you can't turn sand into zombies.
