£235 for 1000 mile service on the 883 over here, equivalent to $290 with todays current exchange rate. Us Brits pay £8'895.00 for a new 883 which works out at $11'000. Who cares anyway, I like the bike so if that what it costs so be it. Tempted to buy the 1200 iron because it's only £500 more but the insurance is well over double compared to the 883 even for a 58 year oldie like me. Stay safe, good video as usual.

I just bought an Iron 1200 in twisted cherry. I'm 38 and have a clean driving record. The insurance really is low. Only $45 a month. Couldn't be happier.

Gday mate. Check out if your allowed to change your oil. Down under Harley Davidson will void your warranty if anyone but Harley Davidson work on your bike. That's why there so expensive they know they've got you for 2 years. Of course after the warranty period you can change your oil all you like. I know a guy who Harley wouldn't look after with the warranty because the pipes were after market, & they installed them. Enough of that let's enjoy our Irons hassle free, have a good weekend.

The first service is the only service they do on my bikes, after that I do it all. I just did the oil and primary on mine last week. I put my new derby cover on when I changed the primary fluid and I can only imagine what that would have cost to have done at the dealership. Whenever I need work done that is either too much for me to take on or too time consuming I take it to a local guy that is a licensed S&S dealer and he charges like $50/hour and works fast, and does awesome quality work. No way will I pay HD $100/hour to drink coffee and chat with their buddies instead of working on the bike lol Ps. I LOVE my dealership and the guys there, I just can't get behind the service prices. They also check EVERYTHING out on the bike and grease/lube all components, but it is still too expensive.

Actually the break in period is the first 500 miles.

I’m assuming that prices will vary somewhat throughout the nation? But $350 was about what I was expecting. Mine will be do pretty soon so I’m not looking forward to dropping another $400 on my brand new bike. I’m definitely going to be doing my own services on my iron after this initial one. But my understanding is that Harley requires that you bring the bike to them for this first 1k service if you want to keep your warranty. That what I’ve heard anyway and it makes sense. They need to examine the bike and make sure it’s still in good running order and that everything is done correctly from the start if they’re going to warranty it for 2 years.

You will be surprised how much maintaining your bike will cost if you are still under waranty and have to do it at the dealer. New tires 500, services 400. Especially now with the LowRideS. But it's all worth it. From now on you are broke but happy :) oh and don't get me started on all the parts you are going to buy. Check me out too, I am @bobbinbastard. Peace

For that I hope they sent the used oil to the lab to check for micro metal powder in it. Good grief! My first service is in a few weeks and my wallet is going to hurt.
