Just paused quickly to add my thanks Dr Hany. The translation of ardh as scripture previously made me more delighted than you could imagine . Its enhanced my dikhr each morning to understand that this dunya is itself Allah (swt) scripture - and it's my understanding that would tie in perfectly to the last day when Allah (swt) rolls the scripture up (not to trigger the 'end of days ' people - just an image I have been reflecting upon). As soon as you drew attention to the ayat around the 36 minutes mark - the penny dropped completely! Jazakallah khaiyran ! It's also an interesting observation that this understanding dropped at 36.11 minutes , just a quick note from my own comprehension re vortex math and Allahs mathematical language! Not , I hasten to add , numerology or such like :-) . Anyway, excuse the rambling , as always my heart leaps for joy at your lectures . Especially when 30 minutes earlier it had began to rain here and i was already pondering the Quran as divine water for the khulb. Such glorious serendipity ! There is no wonder Allah (swt) guides us to be kind to the ones with little or no understanding as they truly do not comprehend the incredible beauty and intelligence that has eluded them this far . Alhamdullilah Allah (swt) guides me here. As always , I pray that Allah (swt) keeps you are yours safe and increases us all in knowledge. Dr Hany has unpacked may wotds, concepts of Holy Quran that may have been distorted or glossed over by tafsir of some prominent scholars. Im not in a position to comment about Dr Hany's level of accuracy even though i find some of his insights are startling and thought provoking to say the least. He does a broad and deep linguistic analysis of Quranic words and concepts. The Holy Quran in numerous, multiple references says, "This is a book fot those who think." This is repeated in many forms throughout Holy Quran. Dr Hany does make tremendous efforts in this direction and his translations of Quranic verses demonstrates much thinking. The opposite of thinking would be blind acceptance and regurgitation of what is in the Holy Quran. This leads to a tendency to be blind and not exerting personal effort to digest Holy Quran onself. Dr Hany says that the word 'Zikr' refers to pondering, reflecting and conremplating stories in the Holy Quran. He says that stories constitute 60% of Holy Quran. I agree that each person reciting the Holy Quran should get into the habit of 'Read'ing' Iqrar" which means Reflect, Ponder and Contemplate. This is one key methodology of approaching Holy Quran. I think that this is the appropriate juncture to mention that the Holy Quran is really about YOU. Maulana Rumi had said this

There are riwayaat that say the person who frowned was another person, and not Rasool Allah (saww). In fact to say that it was Muhammad (saww) doesn’t conform with his character as declared by Qur’an itself (Al-Qalam : 4). Many muslims wouldn’t frown at a blind or poor man coming to us and interrupting us, yet some are quite happy to allege such an action to our beloved prophet (saww).

He is not talking traditional, see what depth he is going to grab the explanations. He is not to harm anyone, he is trying to follow a method found in the Quran. My understanding, till today, he is talking from Quran, he is guided by Quran and he is walking on the Quranic track. What method others followed? They followed their own method!!!! Let's study and conceptualize his thoughts. And Dr Hany is trying to follow a Quranic method.

When I watched this segment for the first time, I cried (not literally) close to the end of the presentation. A range of opposite emotions from sadness to elation and liberation dominated along with heightened mental activity and gut feeling. The locution in 13:4 along with some other locutions learnt here, has changed the way I understand a section of Surah Kahf 18:32-44 (2 men with gardens). Waiting for the next segment. May Allah protect us, guide us and keep us humble and yet be able to articulate well. Newton was great and I admire him. From Newton to Einstein there has been a paradigm shift in the understanding of gravity. The universe is the same, however, they way we understand and measure/calculate using the tools we have has changed.

As an advise to you, my brother, is not to let your zeal get the best of you hence misleading some common men who may not have enough knowledge in their religion and the language in which the Koran was sent. Arabic. I agree with you that some of the comments we have, translations if you will, may have been intentionally or unintentionally, depending on which perspective one is looking at, written out of ignorance or to serve political interests of the so called Caliphates. Ummayads, Abbasids etc. Now as for the Surah (Abasa) in question, one (who has an understanding of Arabic) will notice that the 1st &2nd ayas are talking on 3rd person as for the 3rd up to the 10th it's addressing the prophet (and through him the rest of us just as a dhikr i.e example and reminder) . As for ayas 11-16 it's talking about the Koran, therein refered to as tadhkira (from the noun Dhikr referring to the Koran). The 17th Aya قال الانسان ما المفرخ refers to man's arrogance and the word قتل does not mean killed but rather an expression of how man is doomed by his own deeds. Whatever your agenda maybe just be reminded of the day when one shall be judged by the Most High, Allah. None shall come to their rescue. Thank you.

What do you say about the hadeeth in tirmidi. Number 3331, in haakim 514/2 in ibn hiban hadeeth no 535 in Abu yala hadith no 4848 . In all of them they say that our mother Aisha may Allah be pleased with her says that surah abass was revealed regarding the blind companion Abdullah ibn umme maktoom. Now I ask you should we trust Our mother Aisha or you ? And may Allah blacken the faces of those who slander our mother Aisha may Allah be pleased with her ..and why did Prophet alehisalam always after this Surah whenever He used to go for jihad used to appoint Abdullah ibn umme maktoom as the imam of masjid an nabawi ? The answer is the the Surah itself . Allah hu akbar

When we find direct evidence from the Quran, that the person mentioned in Surah Abassa is mentioned in 2:259, will you call these Quranic evidences lies? Would you rather believe a report about, about, about,,, vs believing the Quran? How will you face Allahh subhanahu Wa taala?

In my opinion I am afraid this is a biased comment in the sense that it accuses the companions and the tabaeen and tabatabaeen. Islam is qallallah wa qala Rasool ullah . I am afraid this methodology is going in the way of hadith rejectors and I don’t agree with your interpretation that you are so sure of. Till now I believed that you have taken into account the hadith also . This is not evidence I have listened to your whole lecture including the previous ones also. This is unidirectional approach . My only plea is that you have a very fertile brain which if put to good use can really help deen of Allah and I absolutely don’t doubt your goodwill but I am a grown up entitled to my opinion and I stand by it . MashaAllah Dr Hany, it was simply mind-blowing. I have a question Dr, who is the person who is above the need of any guidance (verses 5-8). I couldn't understand that part. Who was the frowning man trying to address to? If everyone in that community was corrupt, why did he seek another person to address? Can you please clarify this? I believe that your explanation is consistent with the qualities of our beloved Prophet (PBUH). However, this doubt is bugging me. Jazakallah Khair.

We were not told. It was a person whose acceptance was sought by that prophet who died 100 years. It was a person who is not interested in receiving the guidance. He was not a priority to that prophet in comparison to the "blind" man who came to him in earnest, seeking to learn.

I read some Tafseer also but ultimately found that reading multiple translations is more helpful than sticking to one But this learning experience is really great. Now free of the limitations of my W, reading the surah again, its a complete surprise how the musaffiroon all thought it was referring to hazrat makhtum and our sublime Prophet peace be upon him. Dr Hany how did all of them assume this? Was there an event they latched onto which occurred but which was made to fit with the surah?

I am trying to find difference between this word and mutahhar. Do they both mean purify? Because there is an reference in surah Taubah 9:103 which has both this words it kind of kept me confused for long time. Can u plz in short help me with difference plz. Thank you.

Excellent question. We will discuss the issue of "Ahlul Bayt" and "Tat-heer" at a later time. Not ready to get into it right now. Please accept that I have reasons for this delay. And NO, I do not agree with the Shiiaa understanding of Ahlul Bayt, (in case someone else, not you, wants to jump on my throat ;)
