There are two things that gives Nightcrawler an advantage over some other mutants, 1. He may look like a demon, but his heart and personality shows his true self unlike some other mutants who appear handsome, but are evil, shady and hold dark secrets! 2. He may not have omega level powers, but what he lacks in physical, psionic, or cosmic powers, he more than makes up for it! He's smart, acrobatic and tactical somehow beating more powerful beings! He is Rogue moral support when dealing with Mystique and mutants who are less than honorable!

Nightcrawler has always been one of my favorite X-men characters in Marvel. He's second only to Toad for me. I wish we got to see em fight in X2. ​@@ZeeB...this is most convoluted idea so far. And the lengths they will go to interject LGBT stuff into the comics. You could tell they were going to bring this back when they retconned Mystique's power to be identical to the one she was mimicking, down to the same DNA. But that doesn't hold true. If she can turn into anyone by changing her DNA, why can't she use their powers? And if she could turn into any man to knock up Destiny, why mimic Azazel? And if Destiny was REALLY Kurt's mom, why doesn't she ever act like it? Considering Destiny is really old in her Brotherhood and FF days, would she still be menstruating back then? This is a modern writer's attempt to convolute an already complicated backstory for some LGBT virtue signaling. This could have been the origin back in the 1970s, since Claremont thought of it, but it was rejected for a host of reasons. And no amount of retconning will make it so now.

She chooses his DNA to get her wife pregnant but they couldn't keep Kurt because Destiny sees a future of Azazel finding out Kurt isn't his son and kills him or something like that so they lrcwd to give him up to save him.

They just retconned this whole origin. Mystique is not Kurt's Mom she is his Dad because she had a relationship with another mutant named Destiny. They wanted a child and when Mystique changes into a male......well everything works. Destiny is a precog and that is partly what allows kurt to teleport so freely. Think about it kurt never worries about appearing inside a wall or even a person, it is as if he has an innate spacial awareness that is pretty much subconscious that amount to micro-precognition of where to and to not teleport. They did originally toy with this as his og origin but at the time it would have not been acceptable. I think it's cool and it adds a whole new dimension to Kurt.

This one is Chris Claremont original plan for Nightcrawler's origin dot but the only plothole left is why does he look so much like Azazel? Including the prehensile tail? And he has the same teleporting Powers as Azazel? I've read several profiles on his mother / father Mystique.. it says that she can copy the forms of superhumans, but not their powers. So if Mystique copied azazel's form in order to impregnate Destiny, then why does Nightcrawler have Azazel's powers? I would just love to sit at a bar and ask the writer these questions over a drink...

It'd be awesome if they showed more of his powers too, like the ability to blend into the shadows due to his link to the Brimstone Dimension (although his glowing eyes can give away his location in the darkness), his ability to crawl around on walls etc in a Spider-Man like way, his ability to see in the dark because of his glowing eyes. Show off his skills at sword fighting with 3 swords too. Maybe bring in the cute little Bamfs to help him teleport a lot further as well.

The Draco arc of new X-Men is the worst garbage retcon of a decent origin story. Azazel was a stupid idea of robbed Kurt of his uniqueness. Same for Warren (Angel). Further, it insulted one of the most dominant religions on the planet by implying that angels and devils are just two different races of mutants that we stupid humans mistakingly worshipped. It's like the Asgardian thing in Thor, but worse. Norse mythology is not a religion anymore. But Christianity is. Kurt had a weird appearance that made him look like a devil, but that Draco story basically said, he gets that from his dad. And his unique biochemical teleportation is just a variation of his father's ability. Like I said, that story arc was the worst unnecessary retcon of a decent origin story. I do not consider it canon. And so do many Marvel writers.
