One thing you missed is that in The first movie there is a crew of astronauts that went missing on a mission to mars. I think that they may bring that plot element in the next film.

Both. In the 1968 movies Taylor and his crew were supposed to embark on a 700 year mission. They overshot it and landed back on earth 2000 years later. In Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the Icarus goes missing the same year the Simian Flu breaks out. In the 1968 movie they allude to the Apes taking over 2000 years before the story, and say the Law Giver wrote their religion's scrolls 1700 years ago. Kingdom is set 300 years after the last trilogy, hypothetically 1700 years before Taylor would land. Whether a reboot or prequel, this new trilogy is definitely the story of the Law Giver. And they will definitely bring back the icarus at some point, again whether by just connecting the old with the new, or by rebooting the 1968 movie, I'm certain it will come into play. @tomeik1421

this was a great explanation! I had a ton of these burning questions, but I still have a few more. 1. How did Mae know so much about the vault and how to get around it? 2. Why did Mae resist capture? Proximus's army literally LED her to the spot she wanted to go, they basically helped her out a lot!!! Did she not know they lived by the vault? Was this some coincidence?? 3. Where did Mae procure all that gunpowder from? And some questions as to why such terrible decisions were made and stuff that just doesn't make sense, plot armor: 1. Why didn't Mae take more guns? Surely there was a 15-17-rd pistol instead of a 6-rd revolver in there?? 2. How come no apes woke up from the sound of the generators in the vault turning on? 3. Why did the apes all run into the vault and drown? In the past movies, all the apes were shown to uncannily survive ANYTHING, especially Dreyfus's explosion of the tower. It seems the apes' survival instincts were taken down several notches in this movie! 4. Where is the rest of Proximus's army/kingdom? He had at least 400-2000 members! 5. How does Trevethan know ANYTHING about humans??? Proximus treated him as some sort of advisor for human history and technology. It's been 300 years! Even if he's sentient and has working vocal cords and learned English, how did he learn to read? Was he a prisoner of war against a successful raid of one of the surviving human colonies?

After you said that about Mae and those people in the bunker i was suddenly reminded of 12 Monkeys. Perhaps this was a nod to it or sheer coincidence. But it def puts in light a very interesting theory. Scientists there are prob working on a cure as well as establishing contact with other peeps to gate knowledge or coordinate something grand. 🤔

Mae is the returned astronaut. Thats why she was so shocked looking thru the telescope, it could only be a view from earth. The bunker people are the gov people that hide in secret bunkers during disasters.

Here is the real plot, Mae wanted to go to the Kingdom but needed Noah, so she broke his egg. It caused his clan to be attacked and the journey to begin. She orchastrated everything in the movie to get the electronic chip

1. Mae is a cold blooded killer, she murdered Trevathan with his back turned and just walking away. 2. When Mae flooded the silo, she could careless about the chimpanzees and Noa's clan. 3. Toward the end, when Mae came to say goodbye to Noa, notice She was holding a gun behind her back with her right back, but when Noa handed her the necklace, both of her hands were free. So what happened to the gun ? I didn't notice her having back pockets. 4. What did Mae and Noa see under the microscope ? 5. At the end, what was in the sky that Noa and Mae looking at ? 5. What do apes and chimpanzees eat besides fishes ? Do they hunt and eat other animals? 6. Why aren't there any dangerous animals, such as lions, tigers, etc. ? 7. The people within the silo, how do they survive over 300 years ? What do they eat ? Are there any children there or old folks ? 8. I'm seriously doubt there was enough water from the beach to flood the silo all the way to the top. 9. If Proxima Caesar is so smart, why didn't he find the secret entrance that Mae used ? It seems just around the corner of the front entrance. 10. Why was Mae following Noa before all this happened? It was never explained. 11. Will Mae become Nova in the future sequel leading to Planet of the Apes?

The silo occupants likely eat mushrooms and lab-grown meat. They can grow greens with LED lights, too. As for Mae, Proximus' servant likely would have snitched and had her killed. As for the flooding reaching the top of the silo: good point. There has to be an explanation though. Hopefully, anyway. :-) As for what they saw through the telescope, perhaps the Moon. As for apes' diets, aren't they mostly vegetarian (like me)? Gorillas admittedly eat bugs, and orangutans eat eggs while chimpanzees eat some meat as well but I've not seen fish on their list. As for lions and tigers, remember when Koba killed a bear in the forest to save Caesar's hide? Maybe that's what happened to the others, as well. As for Proximus, that was quite a steep climb that Noa had to make to get to the entrance. It's not easy to just stumble across something so off the beaten path, I guess. As for Mae's becoming Nova, hopefully she'll keep her mind and speech capabilities. As for Mae's following Noah, maybe for something as simple as food from someone who seemed potentially reasonable?

This power dynamics of this movie is a montage of Africa. It explains how imperialism remains dominant. Noah should never have trusted May over Proximus. He could have comfortably distrusted both. Humans will never not want to reassert power over apes.

Perhaps to make it harder for others to penetrate the barrier? Perhaps to make launching boats easier? Admittedly I think I am unconvinced by either of those two explanations though, LOL. :-)

Nasty suspicion it was placed in that position more to provide a big splosh climax than for any logical purpose. "Someone nip out and squirt some oil on that radar dish thingy. It's getting on a bit and is looking a bit worse for wear. Never know, might come in handy.."

@@beentheredonethat5908 it’s humanity that made the stuff, even after having experienced things like this in the past, tha yes why their are testing regulations. Also even after the fact, once the civilization broke down they still kept waring with each other, then one their was barley any humans left, they still fought each other and the apes even though the apes offered piece many times. You must’ve just watched this one but their are a few others, and it shows the same thing. Not to mention it is part of the directors quotes. It’s a parallel of what’s been happening with our species for a while. The first one was In the 70s or 80s. Anyway it’s just my opinion. 👍

I just don’t like people being so clueless, like blood shed, killing, taking, hoarding, greed, is what got them into this, and they are doing more of the same. Don’t get me wrong I still enjoyed the movie, and look forward to future ones

Like 90 percent of the humans or echoes in this movie were between the age of 20 and 40. Where were the old and young humans?

Well we did only see a small herd of humans and according to the apes nobody had seen even that many humans in one place at one time. Maybe the herd had a nesting place such as an abandoned mine or building ruins where the very young and old hang out. The Eagle clan had such a set up with elders and children staying behind while young and prime aged apes went out into the world
