Did you know that Marvel Comics has their own version of the Invisible Man. He is a science experiment gone wrong and he is quite the controversial character.

I was definitely interested the whole time, waiting for how each story was going to turn out, but more as a curiosity. It had so many questions unanswered (even for a golden age story). And he was hard to root for, since he made Punisher seem kind by comparison. And I especially was disappointed that they didn't seem to know themselves what exactly were his full powers. I agree, very surprising he got 3 stories. Quality had a guy called Invisible Justice around this time (I only saw him when DC brought him back for an issue or two in All-Star Squadron). I'd love to see if they did any better. handling it. Cool video though, glad you made it.

Just fyi, the reason why this comic wasn't a violation of copyright is because the invisible man thing is probably considered too broad to copyright. As long as they used a different name and the details were different, they probably would have won any case brought against them. It's like how you can't copyright something like vampires or werewolves. I mean they could have been sued, and there's a chance it could be found to be in violation, but I don't think Marvel would have lost that case. This is just my belief by the way. I don't know for a fact.

I think you're absolutely correct. Kind of makes you wonder what other characters could be adopted in this way.

The 2nd story reminds me of the 1st orgin telling of DC's The Specter ( a little bit)

Youre right. Its very similar with his seemingly supernatural power in a graveyard setting. Specter is another good one i need to add to the list.

How many interesting stories can you tell with a character like this.... How many ways is there to make him tangible and still be interesting facing street thugs... because few of them would legitally have the tech or magic to see or touch him.... If he stays in the same city they'd have to progressivly make more and more ways to make this seem touchable, and it is possible, as I already have ideas to give his adviceries a better shot of survival so they would want to continue their lives of crime, but I think a character like this would have to operate over a huge area for it to be more realistic if he is going to face street thugs of any type

Oh thats easy. Coming up with new and challenging ways to test your character is one of the most fun parts about writing comics. You can put them through anything and just see what happens.

Questions, questions... so many questions. I can tell these were some of the early comic book stories. No thought bubbles, they had to write "thinking" so you knew he wasn't speaking. Whoever wrote the stories must have been like a 10 year old. No sense of details. Boy, this was bad. By the way, I think by this time the Invisible man was a public domain character.

The stories are basic because this was around the birth of the superhero genre. They didnt know how to do it yet. It needed time to evolve into what it is today. Believe me these were very entertaining but only in the 40s when they first came out.

Glad to see you figured out how they avoided being sued. Come on Fatty leaving your wallet at the scene of the murder with a photo of where your going? What kind of crime boss are you?

I guess just anybody can have a legally distinct invisible man character. In fact he probably wont be the only one we encounter.
