As a collector of vintage tin toys, I immediately loved the Marx No 200 trolley. It looks like the electrification was well done and has only enhanced the value of this car. The cool lithography looks to be in great shape for it's age and gives a nice snapshot of the 1920's. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching. As a long-time collector of Marx and other tinplate, I could have never done such a modification to the No 200 trolley. However, I did not hesitate to buy this one, modified by another, as it gave me the opportunity to operate this classic on my layout. I do operate some wind-ups on T-Rail, but it is a bit challenging controlling them for the camera.

The Marx Trolleys are a bit uncommon. I was lucky to find the prewar one that someone had converted to electric. It came with a Joy Line spring motor. It runs nice with this conversion. I guess this is my version of upgrade to hi-tech. The new ones were made by Marx Trains in about 2000.

Thanks for watching. Marx only made 1 track trolley until we made the Park Ave in 2000.

A ' virtual catenary'? What? I swear I saw it! This is brilliant!
@JFLionelT-RailOperator5 ай бұрын
The catenary materializes only on an "as needed" basis, so you may have seen sparks in the air as the train passes by. Thanks for watching.

"Marx trolleys?" I said to myself. "I didn't know Marx made trolleys!" Well I just got an education! That 20's era #200's a real looker and the motorization's a first-rate conversion job! I think it's a better collectable for it. And the "Park Avenue" set from the early 2000s? New Marx! I might have known! A beautiful product! Thanks for sharing them with us!
@JFLionelT-RailOperator5 ай бұрын
Thanks, not sure the motor increased the collectability, but my goal is to operate "everything". When this electric conversion came my direction, it made sense to snap it up. The Park Ave's are hard to find, wish we had made a larger run. They came in 3 colors blue, maroon and green, power and trailer. They were a very fast sell-out. Thanks for watching.

@@JFLionelT-RailOperator I can understand well the desire to operate everything, one thing you won't see in my collection (modest as it is) are "Shelf Queens." If it doesn't run or I can't run it for any reason I don't buy it, no exceptions. I'm not a "Marxist" myself but if I saw that motorized trolley for sale I'd have been VERY tempted to buy it if the price was right, it's a cutie!
