Such an strong message to the society. Hope one no one needs to come out they just love and nothing more. I'm aways afraid of telling my family and friends about who I'm cuz they all are homophobic . It's been 4yrs I kept it to myself and have no idea if i ever get a chance to tell my parents about my gayness. Beautiful story loved it. 💟💟🙌🙌🙌

This film moved me to tears. So much about internalised homophobia, mainly because of the anxiety that family, friends and the society might see and treat you differently after coming out, which I hope that some day won't be necessary anymore. There is also the aspect of self determination, which still is a big issue nowadays. Very well done film!

😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢why should lesbian women be forced to come out as gay to anyone? Your private business is your private business. You don't have to make people understand you who have every intention to misjudge and NOT understand you.

I agree with completely, but what about transgender people? So many things seem outside of traditionalist, societal, scientific or religious doctrine: and are not biological crearionalist survival of the species life force, but are innermost insurmountable components that irrevocably make up the individual. These aspects are life and death to the individual.

The fact that she tried to deny it because she is Christian is so sad 😭 People say you can’t be both Christian and gay at the same time but they’re wrong and this it just more proof! I love this and it made me tear up but I still love it! ❤

Wow this made me cry. I hate my attraction to men so much that I just tell everyone I’m straight, and even try to date girls over and over again even though I know I’m not into women. I hate how society views gay people. I hate that I can’t be “normal”. But this message of why pride is important has completely changed my viewpoint. I’ll try to be less ashamed from now on. Thank you.

Here it is shown: There are different sorts of love: Some with intimate caresses involved and sóme without them. Mary visibly loved Celest but did not have the erotic feeling in her mind.

11:22 - 11:36. I think her monologue, disagrees. Love, between consenting adults, should never been seen as sinful, nor should the expression of that love in what ever way they see fit, even if it is shown in s**ual attraction. If god exists (I don't say, "he" doesn't), and if he created everything, and if he is all knowing, and if he is all good, and if he is all loving, and if he is all powerful, he would have created attraction in every singular person. He wouldn't be all loving, and/or all powerful if he judged you on feelings, which seeds he put in you. Even if Satan existed, as an tempting malevolent being, the Christian god would have created him, which would make god neither all good, nor all loving, which I'd argue most devout Christian view god as all good and all loving. Therefore I strongly dislike and even dissagree theologically with the notion of ""pure" love", and especially if it is expressed with the sentiment of "Hate the sin, love the sinner." Personally, I see a huge disconnect, between the christian image of god and eternal damnation.

I'm kind of curious how this applied to your dissertation; if you want to share a bit of insight.
@MyaaM8
@MyaaM8 Жыл бұрын
of course! so my dissertation title was: “how can queer theory be used to challenge notions of heteronormativity in romantic fiction on film?” - and so as an acting student, my dissertation was half practical (the film you’ve now seen) and half a written paper. for the paper i researched romantic fiction, tropes used in heterosexual fiction vs queer fiction and the “bury your gays” trope and the harmful implications of it whilst highlighting that there should still be space queer tragedy outside of simply “burying your gays”. there was a lot more, of course, but i won’t bore you with all of it- and then i discussed how i myself utilised the techniques i had previously researched in my own queer romantic fiction on film :)
