Sheldon is smart enough to not be spoiled and coddled Georgie matured fast and can care for himself Missy is the one that needed her parents the most, especially her mom. Meemaw treated her better than Mary. Thats why she has resentment and acts out more than the others. Shes the most precious one though and didnt deserve any of it. To be fair, Missy and her dad had their wholesome moments alot, not many with Mary tho..

This! So much this. My mum often brmoans how i never tell her anything, but she literally takes any and all thi gs i share with her and uses them against me one way or another. It's crazy. No, this shows that any distance in their relationship is mostly Missy's fault because Mary has made several attempts to bond with Missy who mostly rebuffed them, you can't criticize Mary for not spending more time with or being interested in the lives of her other children and then get mad when she does take interest or tries to spend time with them

@@awhimsyreader9015 I'm not mad that she's attempting to spend time with Missy. I'm mad at the way they had to spend time together. Both of them were alone in the house and since there was no other choice they had tried to start an awkward conversation (that shows just how little they know about eachother). I get why Missy would just rather not interact with Mary because she's so used to being ignored by her, that I would imagine any attention from Mary would seem forced/awkward. And the thing is; Mary is the only person that makes her feel this way. Despite George being mostly focused on Georgie and his work, he still makes a constant effort to try and fit Missy in his life and that **shows** from their interactions with eachother. While George and Missy have some awkward conversations in the show (also due to neglective issues) It never feels strained like it does with Missy and Mary.

I see a lot of people talking about how Mary has neglected Missy and how she only has her attention on Sheldon, but the way i see it this is a two way street. Throughout the show we've seen Mary trying to connect with Missy on several occasions, this one for instance, at the hair salon and especially at baseball. All these attempts however were not reciprocated by Missy, who has always been closer and more affectionate with Meemaw. When Mary made her a trophy, she blew it up, when Mary defend her, she still went to Meemaw for advice. Sheldon on the other hand has always shown his need for Mary, making her feel wanted and needed as a parent. I'm not saying Mary is right by spending all that time on Sheldon, but when she got no response form Missy, that was that. When Missy tries to tell Mary about boy troubles later on, Mary is all ears and happy to help. Just something to consider. She isn't the perfect mom, but they are not the perfect kids.

I always just assumed it's because she doesn't know how to. Even tho yes Mary is putting in the effort Missy did too and afterwhile she gave up and realized the reality. Not to mention Mary pick sides all the time. Even favorites but Meemaw and George don't that's why she's closer to George and MeeMaw because she knows all the kids are equal most of the time. Also she's THE CHILD she shouldn't have to be putting in the effort because her mom decides to choose when and what time to connect with her children. Yes however no one is perfect so I'm not saying all that is an excuse but maybe a reason behind why Missy felt uncomfortable connecting with Mary

She basically abandoned me in my youngest ages and as soon as everything got better she came back thinking the wound would be healed.
