Katotohanann I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with them saying “a little slow” but if you read the comments on here people don’t understand that’s what they mean. They think that they mean they’re running slow because they are slow runners. As far as the comment on Flotrack, listen to them commentate, specifically to the end of any race, and I think you will agree. They tend to revert to screaming more often than not.

Mary Cain has been one of the greatest middle distance runners EVER. Don Paige was my running hero forever in the 880 the 800 meters and the 1000 Meters, in which he had the American Record. Too bad he didn't get to compete in the Moscow Olympics in 1980. He sure was a gentleman about. She ran her best times in 2013 and 2014 as a 17 year old. What happened? She ran way slower times in 2016 and hasn't posted any times since then. Don't ever assume that someone who is a teenage star is going to win as a senior. It doesn't always happen. In fact, most age world records in the very young ages (15 and under) are held by athletes who are unknown today because they never became top senior athletes. Too much running at too young an age. This also happened to Daesha Rogers, maybe the greatest child phenom of all time running a 2:07 800 and a 56 400 as a 13 year old and never ran that fast again. These people could have been world record holders but they were done before they left high school. It takes a unique combination of talent and planning and focus to keep improving. So far Sydney McLaughlin has kept improving, but even with her there is no guarantee.
