Her accolades notwithstanding, people often criticized Mary's artistry and talent - I have never been one of those people. This song will probably not make a list of her top 10 best songs, but it will always be one of my favorites. It made me sit up and take notice because it was such a departure from what I was used to hearing from Mary. That's all I'm saying. She also did a magnificent cover of Nina Simone's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" that has is similar to this song in tonality.
