nickbigd For me the genius touch is that she’s eating a drumstick. When the teetering old bank guy said those lines in the movie, it was sort of scary/silly; but in between Bette Davis’ mouthfuls, it’s stuff of a horror movie.

There is nothing about this that isn't an absolutely heart-exploding joy. There is too much exquisiteness here to list every favorite moment, but I must acknowledge the subtle perfection of the bongos in the Judy medley--genius! My only micro-quibble is I kept expecting to see Thelma Ritter. And that Lady Elaine still frightens me.
