Mary's Mic Drop

How do you respond when God speaks to you? With doubt or pride?
Or with humility, faith and obedience? Mary got some incredible news from the angel Gabriel and even though it sounded crazy her response changed the world. The same could be said for all of us. God speaks, but how do we respond? Will we be made silent? (like Zechariah) or will we magnify the Lord? (like Mary)

@@charlesvandenburgh7008 we agree, Mary does not merit worship, but honor and who is due more honor than the one who God chose to bear the child Jesus who is the queen mother of the King Jesus Christ. Even the Angel Gabriel gives her honor "Hail!" .... Catholics worship through sacrifice which is only Given to God through Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. We offer sacrifice of our hearts minds and souls to Jesus on the altar, the cross. We would never ever offer sacrifice to Mary. And our mother would say so herself. But, All generations shall call her blessed, because she is the Mother of our Lord as Elizabeth says.

He is mentioned in our prayers daily in the mass as we worship Jesus Christ crucified and risen. Now as for Mary not worthy of gonor... well I would direct you to the annunciation where even the angel Gabrial greets her with the highest of honor when he says "Hail". He did not say this when he appeared to zachariah he did not say this when he met Tobit. She was thought of before the beginning of time when you read in Genesis that God will put enmity between the serpents seed and the seed of the woman, Mary and she is the one clothed with the sun with a crown of 12 stars on her head. I would read the church fathers from the 1st 2nd and third centuries and see how they exalted Mary. You will be surprised at how catholic they are. I would also look up the origins of sub tuum prayer which was found described on the walls I the catacombs. You may find yourself scratching your head at how awfully catholic all these things are. But I understand you really dont want to believe these things and for that I can only say your missing out on such wonderful beauty God has provided for us. God bless.

Also, the moment Mary enters Elizabeth house and John the Baptist jumps in her womb is a reflection of the Old Testament. It reflects when David received the ark of the old covenant, he jumped with joy. You see Mary is the ark of the new covenant. And just like the old ark held the word of god in Stone, the first priest Aron staff and manna from heaven so dose Mary hold the the word of god in flesh, the highest of all priest and the bread of life Jesus. Why did Jesus go to John the Baptist to be baptised? He is God and did not have to do all these. They were just complying with the Jewish Law. Don’t draw incorrect conclusions from your readings of the Bible. See below. It is stated in the verse that it was “according to what is said in the law of the Lord (according to Moses). Nothing more to it. Luke 2:24 and in order to offer a sacrifice, according to what is said in the law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”

Mary came to me while I was on plateauing on pills, begging God to make me sober; that I won't be stuck in the high forever. It was as if a vertical blink, where a light shown. She was holding a baby. She asked me if o wanted to hold her baby. I was too afraid bc I didn't know it was her. I just kept praying to God until my friend turned the light on in my room. I was sober at that instant. Nut I always wondered who the woman was. Ot was not until an orthodox convert was giving his testimony that I knew it was Mary. He was in prison and Mary came to Him in a dream, asking him to "hold her baby." She wants us to hold her Son, Jesus Christ, like St. Simeon. That moment you hold Jesus, you have seen everything; your hope is fulfilled and you would be ready to repose in the Lord, too.

Mary genuinely wanted to know how it was going to happen - she was a Virgin and did not know man. Her betrothal to Joseph was not necessarily the means by which this conception was going to happen. This could be for any number of reasons but a) she just asked because she wanted to know God’s planned method (in case he wanted to do something), and b) she didn’t assume Joseph would be the father and there could have been a reason such as a mutual vow of virginity, or a vow of virginity of hers that Joseph had agreed to respect, or some physical problem, or even some prayer they had made together or a way of life which would separate them (eg among a sect where men and women lived separately, eg the Essenes perhaps?) but if she didn’t assume there would be relations between them, we shouldn’t either.

4:50 I agree with your take about humility and surprise but she wouldn't think that having a child in the future, "you will bear a child" was inconceivable since she was betrothed to Joseph. It only makes sense if she was a consecrated virgin and Joseph was her betrothed to provide for and protect her. Cathokic tradition has taught this for centuries. Check it out. Pretty amazing. And yes their were consecrated virgins in that time, the qumran scrolls he revealed such activity.

@tony. In the gospels, it clearly states that the “brothers of Jesus” are the sons of Joseph’s brother Clopas and his wife, Mary. I can see where all of the Marys could get confusing. Also, if Jesus has younger siblings, he would be disobeying Jewish law by leaving his mother to John. There was no word to distinguish between brother/cousin/relative. Look into Martin Luther’s preaching on the perpetual virginity of Mary. He defended it long after he split from the church. Virginity within marriage was acceptable if both spouses consented to it. Don’t look at events that happened 2000+ years ago with 21st century, American lenses. This practice is described in the book of Numbers.

It’s even easier for Zachariah to believe he will have a child because he was with his wife trying to have a child, it’s a natural thing. But with Mary, it was supernatural that without laying with Joseph, she was to conceive Jesus. Yes, humility on Mary’s part and doubt with Zachariah, big difference and just shows how much greater Mary is because she humbled herself, as the Holy Spirit says, the lowest of these will be the greatest. Thanks for this inspired instruction on the feast of the IC. Just allow me to add some precisions. There arre at least two more moments where the Scriptures have the expression: full of grace. One is the Prologue of St. John: "Full of grace and truth". The other one is about St. Stephen in Acts 6, 8: "full of grace and power". But in the Angel's salutation to Mary the original Greek is different: "kecharitomene", more literally: filled with grace. Origen, at the end of th 2nd century remarked that this word of the angel was never heard before in Greek, that it was unique to this passage, though the verb charito (to fill with grace, to grace) is used in Eph 1,5. Another remark is that between the question of Zachariah to the Angel and the question of Mary there is not only a difference of tone. Zachariah asks: "How shall I know this?" He asks thus for a sign in order to know it, to believe in that. The sign will be at the same time a punishment: he will be speechless. Mary asks simply about the way something so unusual will come to be, she doesn't asks so for a sign in order to believe; thus, when the angel explains to her how will that be, she immediately believes, without necessity of a sign, that's why Elisabeth calls her blessed for having believed to God's message through the angel.

Yes Sir. Correct you're presentation of this just co incidentally happened when I have read a book of clarity it is from Catholic by Soc. C. Fernandez and aswell the book entitled "The Clarity" yes it is all mentioned in a bible between the arch angel Gabriel and Mary's cousin Elizabeth so the Holy Rosary even before the event of Holy Mary is already planned and forthcoming,.🙏🙇‍♂🙏.

Tks brother, keep up ... God Bless you Just a comment to help your reflection on: why the Angel was angry with Zacariah and not with Mary? Zacariah didnt believe the Angel word (cfr. Lc 1:20); Mary instead did, as God reveals through Elizabeth (cfr. Lc 1:45) ... So, the question of Mary "how that can be?" (Lc 1:34) is not about any doubt but about "the way" that word (the she believed) will be done in her, given that she "don't know man"; she was just asking "how" God will do it

Has anyone realize that when Angel Gabriel greets Mary "Hail, full of grace..Blessed are you among women......" it was not angel Gabriel who greet Her with those words...infact Gabriel like any angel was just a messenger...a messenger of God.... and it was actually God Himself who greeted Mary " Hail, Full of grace and Blessed"....and Gabriel just delivered the message..

Private interpretation of the Bible is not Biblical and is the cause of the 30,000 or more different beliefs, churches, denominations etc. And you know what... it is in the Bible! "When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He questioned His disciples: “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”…[Matt: 16: 13-15] If this were to happen today, we can say that most probably the result would be 4 different denominations: (1) Some say John the Baptist; (2) others say you are Elijah; (3) others Jeremiah; (4) one of the prophets... (5) Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.- Only He got it right. Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven [Matt 16: 17] One is surely going to tell me: "well, we too are inspired by the Holy" unfortunately my reply would be a BIG NO; it cannot be true!.perhaps it might only be partially true depending on the situation you are in One would ask me - "how can I prove that?" That is a very simple and easy reply: The HOLY SPIRIT CAN ONLY TEACH, INSPIRE, REVEAL or REMINDS us of ONLY ONE TRUTH - ONE INTERPRETATION!; ONE MEANING; as the Holy Spirit can NEVER CONTRADICT HIMSELF WITH DIFFERENT OPINIONS, REVELATIONS or INTERPRETATIONS, for the Truth is always ONE. Perhaps without realizing it, someone, maybe even in good faith, might wake up saying that he/she had a "so-called inspiration" and creates a church or belief. Meanwhile, another person might also say that he/she received a "so-called" revelation, once again, maybe in good faith, but his/her "so-called" revelation differs completely from the other "revelation" So, this person believes that he/she has the true revelation" so a new church is necessary to be formed; having, a different name and a different congregation. and so it goes on till this present day! In the Bible Jesus never gave anybody to form other churches in his Name other than the one He formed on Cephas. [Matthew 16: 18-19]

According to Cardinal Tagle SIN is present in the absence of God’s Grace so if Mary is Full of Grace, there’s no way she’s tainted with sin. The dogma of the Immaculate Conception started from this greeting.
