Anyone else think this portrait looks Denis Waterman?

Yes. Also an uncanny resemblance to Graham Hancock - the well known pseudo historian and intellectual con artist.

Mary is very overlooked in literature and on screen and on screen.This is a shame as she is one of our most intriguing monarchs.

One forgets that the characters of history were flesh and blood creatures like us. Tragic, banal exciting and luxurious, precarious.

I feel mary & her mother were treated appallingly/ Yet when Mary did sit on the thrown she was cruel to burn so many

Mary Tudor was unfairly unmarried young & waited to virtual middle age in Tudor terms to be on the thrown
@2msvalkyrie5292 жыл бұрын
Very entertaining . Though the rather abrupt changes in her moods from imperious Queen to simpering love struck teen seem overdone . Also her penchant for burning " heretics " is rather glossed over .?

Such a sobriquet should apply to Elizabeth I if it applies to Mary I.

@@mikelheron20 Elizabeth was MUCH worse but she did what she could in secret, and history seems determined to gloss over her faults. Mary was not at all bigoted if you closely examine the history, but extremely mild and merciful. As one contemporary commented: “her kindness is such that we must give thanks to God for having given us such a Princess and Lady for Queen. May God preserve her!” - a sentiment that was echoed by all who knew her.

Catherine Parr ingenuity ensued the line of succession. Without Parr , England would of been thrown into civil war again as it was during the war of the roses

Gee - a character whitewash I think, of a religious fanatic who thought nothing of condemning over 300 people to a terrible death. Portrayed here as mostly soft and gentle which fanatics generally aren’t.
