Loved her in Dick Van Dyke- her dancing was always a treat. She really hit gold though with her unique comedic chops, and that signature "oh Rob". (lol)

She brought me a lot of happiness too! So glad I got to meet her! As for this post, Mary's A + E biography has been out on YT for a long time, but the video wasn't of very good quality. I only relatively recently put this better version up, but if you find the other one on YT I'm sure it has plenty of comments. This one will pick up some, too!

There is actually a recent documentary about Mary Tyler Moore that aired on HBO in 2023, and features interviews with Amy Poehler, Tina Fey, Bernadette Peters, and Reese Witherspoon, and is produced by Mary's widow, Dr. Robert Levine. The documentary is actually available to watch on Max, but only if you have a subscription.

I watched The Dick VanDyke Show starting when I was 11 with my parents. Then in my twenties I watched The Mary Tyler Moore Show with my own little girl. Didn't she have a gift of the ability to give something families could really enjoy together no matter their age? It seems like she did. She dealt with such pain in her personal life with what looks like an enormous amount of grace. Such a special lady. I'm sad she's gone.

I love Mary Tyler Moore and the programs she was in. There are just two things I wish she had never done: Ordinary People and her autobiography After All. Regardless to their acclaim, some things should be kept from the public when it comes to your personal life or performances that can taint it. Love you Mary, R.I.P.

In many ways, Mary had a rather sad life. Her son Richie accidentally killed himself, her sister Elizabeth (21 years her junior) overdosed on drugs. Her brother John died young from kidney cancer. Her dad was a strict Catholic and her mom was an alcoholic. Mary was later diagnosed with type I diabetes and she herself had addiction issues. Thank goodness she married (much younger) Robert, a heart surgeon. Amazing that she could be perky and so loveable as both Laura Petrie and Mary Richards!

At 12:24 they said her age was 23 (and later so did Dick, but no filming at 23), when starting on The DVD Show. She had her 24th on Dec. 29, 1960, so the pilot filmed with her at 24, on Jan. 20, 1961, the day of Kennedy's inauguration. Alrhough she was the reported 23 when she was hired before Dec. 29. Dick was 35, on Dec. 13, 1960, when filming started on the next Jan. 20. The 11 years seemed too much to be readonable, but their chemistry was the best ever seen in a tv series!!!

34::00. Sorry to break it to you but there us no such thing as an "accidental overdose'if drugs. They knew early on what they were doing yo themselves thr monrnt they started shooting up. If thru had fallen on a needle of picked the drug up THINKING it was insulin or something thrn THAT would have been accidental. It's the sane idea as saying a drunk driver caused the death of a child "by accident" sincechecjad had too much to drink before getting behind a machine capable of killing. Or even someone who shoots himself and the media called it an "accidental shooting." My heart goes out to actors who were all neglected as children by their parents and started for affection. I am very sad with thr fact that Mary was buried ALONE!
