A vibrant and spirited piece of music highly upbeat in nature. I love its steady momentum and bountiful grace at which it fastly moves. Wunderbar.

IMO the best tempo on youtube, very consistent, considerate of the long left hand jumps.

Such a wonderful performance on all levels. Scarlatti must have been having some of the best days of his life when he composed this joyous masterpiece.

In no way do I pretend to understand piano... But I love this piece, and I think of EVERY version I can find on the Internet (there are a ton!) this performance is the best. The tempo is actually musical and you are able to enjoy the melody. Thank you so much for posting! :)

+Christopher Rodgers Thanks for this kind note, I feel very encouraged! I did wrestle choosing a tempo. Interestingly Scarlatti wrote "as fast as possible" at the beginning of this piece, so my initial goal was to do just that. But it was challenging to keep it musically interesting (even simply understandable) at such a rushed pace, so once I reached my "speed limit," I brought the tempo down just enough to be able to add some character (at least that was my hope!) So glad you enjoyed the performance!

Muy buena interpretación y video, el secreto para esta sonata de Scarlatti está en no tocarla “presto quanto sia” sino en Allegro o Vivace para permitir sonar esos acordes que hay al final de cada frase.

Is there a CD I can get with this and the Bach toccata? KZbin sound quality is not Stax-compatible.

I think this piece is too underrated. You play it beautifully. Using an alternate fingering at 0:30 might help you play it more clearly. I uploaded my version on my channel. But I cant play it like you so I made AI play it.

Too fast. The music gets buried.
@kingsleymarion7 ай бұрын
this piece is literally meant to be played “as fast as possible” hence the presto, quanto sia possibile above the score.
@Maisiewuppp4 ай бұрын
As fast as possible - the instructions of the composer. Originally it would have been played on a harpsichord where the action is lighter and therefore the playing would have been even faster. The joy would be lost if played slower. The music is not buried, you have to keep up with it.
@hippocraticoaf87982 ай бұрын
LOL I thought it was too slow. No one reads Scarlatti's instruction.
@RobertSweet-nw4tmАй бұрын
Sadly this is played far too fast. Rattling off Scarlatti as fast as possible is the scourge of many pianists today. There is no musicality or expression - I guess that this is the modern belief. And a triumphant gesture at the end which seems to mean “look how fast I can push all the notes and all the correct ones too!” They believe that faster is better. Listen to Horowitz
