Having read through a good number of comments, it is clear you've taken some heat for suggesting the Sig P938 is a superior choice over the Glock 43. Personally, I would have to disagree that the Sig P938 would make me want to sell the Glock 43. I own both and can comfortably recommend either one for someone interested in this style of firearm. We are incredibly fortunate to live in a time with such great options in conceal carry. Whether the Glock 43, the Sig P938, the Shield, the XDs, the Kahr PM9, the Walther PPS M2, or even the Ruger LC9s, most people are going to find their personal favorite among these great little single stacks. Even better, and with few exceptions, all of these guns generally work very well and will serve the buyer's needs for many years. While we fuss and argue over which one is better, the truth is that any of these pistols are vastly superior to what was available just a generation ago. From my perspective, it doesn't really matter which of these single stacks you choose. What matters is that you actually train and carry your favorite and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same thing. The fight isn't over which firearm is better. The fight is with a government that is intent upon infringing your right to self defense.

+Mark Gough very thought out comment, thank you. And yes, we are blessed to be able to even be able to choose which firearm we want. Some people don't have running water. The title, however provocative it may be, was not meant to suggest the g43 isn't a great firearm, simply to state from my personal experience I'd prefer the 938. Glock is one of my all time favorite companies :).
@thebusterdog63584 жыл бұрын
I agree, but having both the P938 and the Glock 43 I will always take a hammer fired 1911 style single action over a striker fired double action. My Glock 43 and my Springfield XDs Mod ll are my only striker fired polymer pistols, and neither even come close to the quality of ANY of my 1911 style SAO pistols. And although the XD's is SAO, It's still a POS in my opinion.
@rickpettey88224 жыл бұрын
Mark Gough: As much as I agree with your sentiment as well as the overall text, I do disagree with some specifics. I, too, own the XDs and a Glock, although my Glock (19x) is not in this category. The XDs does not, IMHO, compare with the 938 for it is simply in an entirely different level. Of course it is more expensive which must be taken into consideration. The accuracy, slide action, trigger, build quality (with rare exceptions) make it a far superior pistol- IMO.

I have owned my p938 for a year now. Right out of the box I put a Galloway trigger kit and custom G10 grips.Streamlight laser flashlight combo. This fits in any pocket. carry in front jean pocket with md2 Sticky holster. I have become one with this little gem. I don't carry my glock that often anymore. My glock is a great fire arm but for ccw I have fallen in love with the make and model of this firearm. I custom all my handguns to a degree. the gallaway trigger kit along with the wide variety of grips for the P938 have made it a race car in my opinion.

I own the Sig Sauer P938, Glock 42, Glock 43 and Sig Sauer P250. I used to carry my Glock 42/43, but have started carrying my 938. I initially bought this gun in 22LR with the Threaded Barrel. It came all matt blue with night sights and the hogue wrap around grip, which are super comfortable. I contacted Sig Sauer and sent my frame to them to install the 9mm upper with night sights. For the price of a half of a 938, I have a .22 and a 9mm pistol in one. And Sigs Custom shop does the work, which is flawless.

As an owner of an M&P shield 9mm, I found that the slide is very hard to rack using the slide release without a loaded mag. Once you put a loaded mag into the gun it takes little to no force to press the slide release button down!

I own both plus the Sig 290 and all 3 are great guns. Zero issues with all. The advantage of the P938 is that it fits better in your side pocket. I find the 43 has the best trigger, the P290 has the smooth but longest pull. And the 938, for one in the chamber, safety should be on. No big deal.
@FredArd19548 жыл бұрын
Bought my P938 about a year after they came out. At the time, there were not a lot of choices for single stack conceal carry sized 9mm handguns. Ruger had the LC9, but it didn't sit well with me, and I think Kahr had one out as well. That was about it.l (no S&W Shield or G43 at the time). The P938 for a while had mixed reviews, primarily due to a finicky-ness for certain ammo, but I think they got that issue resolved in production by the time I bought mine. I got the two-tone model with the rubberized grip. A local dealer had a really good package deal that Sig offered that includes the two styles of magazine, the holster, carrying box, all mentioned in your package, PLUS a laser. All this was about $540 before tax, so a great deal. I've been carrying mine several years now EDC, weekdays (work in the office) in a Galco ankle holster, and weekends on my belt, using the Sig plastic holster, most often IWB in the rear or kidney location, provided I'm not going to be sitting a lot. All in all, I love it. My only complaints: (1) on the range is the grooves on the trigger tear my finger up after shooting a while; (2) in my pant leg the rubber grip is a little "catchy" occasionally, but is worth it for the comfort provided when shooting.

Absolutely love my Sig p938 SAS. I have a W Engineering stainless trigger which has a much nicer pull. They changed the angle slightly with the trigger bar, and the pivot point to make it feel straighter than it is stock for only $34. Look great as well. I personally feel like my p938 handles recoil better than any polymer pistol even close in size. One thing I love that they included is that you can load the firearm/rack the slide while the safety is on. Unlike any 1911 in my knowledge.

I love my Sig P938 and P238. I love my Glocks and Springfields too. A little note on the slide catch point. The reason for the more flush slide catches is because they are just that, slide catches, not releases. The theory is that when under stress, with adrenaline pumping, your small motor skills go to crap. Closing the slide by hitting the slide catch requires small motor skills that you may not have in a self-defense situation. That's why training curriculums emphasize racking the slide and why many self-defense weapons don't make the slide catches easily actuated for closing purposes.

@serega40877 жыл бұрын
Had one, love it, but few problems with it. Firstable, when you try to do quick follow shots you accidentally engage safety with thumb and lock slide(unacceptable in high stress situations). 2) when shooting-mag release is touchy and mag come out sometimes with not chambering next round. 3) failures to feed with hollow points often(critical defense is only be okay) 4) finally what i hate most, if you safety engaged-you wont rack a slide(its locked), basically if you pull out a firearm and you need to use it you can’t rack slide quick to chamber a round until you take it off safety. I switched to g43 and no regrets 😍

I've had my p938 for almost two years - over 1,000 assorted rounds - no issues. I also have a couple of Glocks. Absolutely no comparison when it comes to quality. Sig did have some quality issues when they first introduced the p938 but those issues are resolved. In any case Sig warranties the guns for ever. For my money the p938 is the best single stack 9mm for concealed carry. Sig makes as many different models as Baskin Robins does ice cream - seems to be their marketing approach. Mine is the Equinox model - front sight is the Truglo TFO with the Siglight night sight on the rear. Mine came with one flush mount six round mag. I have three seven round extended mags and have replaced the Darkwood grips with Rosewood. Great gun

I love the trigger on these. I was planning on buying a Kimber micro9 as a concealed because I'm a huge fan of 1911s but this gun is more or less a "baby 1911" and I love that. It's familiar and comfortable and just feels like a compact version of my 5" Kimber .45. I wanted a 1911 or 1911-style "modern automatic" as a CC BECAUSE of the trigger and I'm not disappointed with the 938. In my experience there's no handgun out there than can compare to the trigger of a 1911 until I picked this little puppy up. It's nearly identical. Short, crisp, immediate. The 6-8 pounds is perfect. Resistant enough you won't have accidental discharge if you're a newer shooter, but light enough it can be pulled quickly and easily. Can't say enough about it.

I like my 938 SAS overall other than the magazine is very difficult to load. After market speedloaders are to sloppy or flimsy deforming when loading. I paid almost $50 for extra magazine yeah they're proud of their products. The feed ramp is very steep but will shoot most hollowpoints except for really radical designed ones. The inside the waist band holster was not useful it kept pulling out when drawing pistol even after working on tension screw. Before buying a 938 try to find someone who has one to let you shoot it. I like mine you may not it's a preference in the end after $$$ of coarse.

I own both and am a long time shooter... That said I'd choose the Glock over the Sig. My reasoning here is due to maintenance... The Glock is so easy to maintain and detail strip. The Glock can be detail stripped and re-assembled in just a few minutes... While the Sig takes 20 minutes to get the sear and ejector installed properly. Dirty environments are also a HUGE problem for the Sig.

Great review. I always laugh when people say that their firearm is God's gift to shooters and bash other firearms. As a firearms instructor I've figured out that in most cases it is because they spent money on a gun and refuse to recognize that their firearm actually isn't the right one for them, but they are emotionally and financially attached to it. Every firearm is a compromise. The "perfect" for everybody CCW handgun hasn't been, and never will be, invented. Glock, S&W, Springfield, Sig, Ruger etc all make great guns. What works for one person will not work for the next. I more or less stopped shooting all of my Glocks (except my 27 that goes with me around the farm) in 2005 when I bought my first Springfield XD (a 4" .45 ACP). It is much more accurate, ergonomic and comes with better sights and trigger than any Glock. Does that mean a Glock is "garbage"? Nope. It just has more compromises for me than other guns. Since then I have purchased more XDs....a 4" XDs in 9mm, 3.3" XDs in .45, a 3.8" Xdm in 9mm. The 4" XDs has a Crimson Trace Railmaster Pro light/laser and gets carried when the weather and dress code calls for a covering garment. The XDs 3.3" in .45 gets carried when an untucked shirt is appropriate. For those times when an untucked shirt isn't appropriate, a P238 is in my pocket, or a P938 is in a tuckable holster. I bought a M&P and a Shield (both in 9mm) and I use them for student guns. I personally hate the trigger, but if it works for you and you can run it that is awesome.

There's no denying GLOCK is an overpriced trash gun. Trigger is sub-par , No safety (safeaction my ass) Plastic sights. Flexible plastic frame. Unusable slide release. Plastic mags. Zero machining need to make the frame , MIM internals, very minimal machining to manufacture slide and they want 600+ for a new G19. It's pure insanity, and now that their design is no longer theirs, others are manufacturing the same thing for half the money and sometimes even do it better than glock.... there's no reason a G19 should cost as much as sig p938 , purely from a manufacturer's stand point. Sig probably makes $50 profit on every p938 built, glock probably makes $300 profit on every g19 built.
@bennwj Жыл бұрын
@@Quintana88 Overprices trash gun? I don’t think I would go that far. They are very safe as the striker isn’t fully cocked until the trigger is pulled so I am not sure where you are getting that complaint from. My G27 has the original “plastic” sights and they have never failed even when the gun was carried daily for about 7 years. I have used it in classes and as a loaner to students and the sights are just fine. I have heard people complaining that the sights break, but I have never seen it. Not saying that it hasn’t happened, but I’m pretty confident that if it happened as often as some of the internet commandoes say it happens, they would have been replaced ages ago. The G27 that I mentioned in my original comment had to go in for a grip reduction/re-stippling to get rid of that obnoxious “hump”. The hump isn’t an issue for me on the G19/23 or the G17/22, but on the smaller G26/27 sized frames it makes for a very uncomfortable grip…..for many people. The slide release is perfectly usable as long as you don’t use it to put the gun into battery after loading or a reload. The firearm was designed to do that by retracting the slide a bit and releasing it to chamber a round. Glock triggers are way too heavy. They are especially heavy (for me) in the G43 and G48 that I have shot. Every handgun is a compromise, and what works for one will not work for somebody else.

I have been carrying a 938 Scorpion everyday for a year now. I switched over from an M&P Shield .40. I have always been a Sig fan. My go to full size is my P226 Elite SAO, but I digress. When I first started carrying my 938 I was having a lit of issues, FTF/FTE. I did a 500 round break in and couldn't figure it out. It turns out, the magazine retention slot in the mag was too large. About every fourth shot would release the mag causing a malfunction. I almost swore off of the gun, but figured I'd give Sig another shot and sent it back. I will never carry an unreliable gun. In just two weeks it came back, and in usual Sig fashion, better than it was. Not only did they give me a new magazine, they upgrade the mag retention lug, main spring, polished the feed ramp, and upgraded the extractor. The gun works flawlessly now. Super accurate, nice and light but still feels like a substantial gun. For those that don't like manual safeties, it just means you have to practice more.

Haha, Carry my P938 SAS daily on my ankle with a Sig P229 Legion on my hip! Luckily Sig has sorted out MOST of the issues with the P938. The MSH issue has been resolved with a new MSH type. Ejector issue has been taken care of AFAIK. Phenomenal carry piece.

The only gun I've ever bought that had zero failures after 500 rds is my Century C39V2 7.62x39mm. (...and I've bought many!) I did have a failure with my Rosewood P938, that occurred with the extended mag. I sent it in and they got it back to me in 3 days! It has fired flawlessly since then. You get what you pay for. That is why you pay $700+ for it, this gun is a dependable tool. Sig takes its reputation seriously, and I respect that. All mechanical devices will fail. How long does it take for Glock to reciprocate and make right?

Shot one of these 938s and the shield and the springfield but cant shoot them like I can my g43 because its just fits my hand like a glove like all my other glocks. I struggle to shoot 1911s, m&ps, vp9s, but put my glocks in my hand they fit perfect and a natural point of aim.

I have the exact same exact gun I carry it every day and it's super comfortable, half the time I forget it's there. I've shot 200 rounds through it so far with zero misfeed. If you're looking for a quality Carrie firearm stop looking. I was at Basspro compared this to the s&w body guard, this is waaaay better, in terms of quality and finish. this firearm is all metal except for the trigger. there is no way you can compare quality. Great video!!!

@federico020727 жыл бұрын
Update: I took the body guard out for some fun, If you compare the two, they both are about the same dimensions, about the same weight, but worlds apart. The sig is just a better built gun, I'm not one that is just a S&W fan or a Ruger fan, I buy what catches my eye. It's like when I bought my Ruger Super Blackhawk SS, some people were saying it's a single action, but I then say, So what it's a bad ass 357, it's a great carry gun when your up in the woods of Maine, hiking, so I bought it. The Body guard is clunky, when you rack the slide it's like driving a Corolla VS a Benz, the Sig is just way more put together, an all metal gun, very tight. I know that the Body Guard is a popular gun, BUT I now know why the price tag on the sig is hundreds higher. I know if I had to draw my weapon, I have ZERO fear that it will fail.

Should they have added a grip safety as well? Its to be carried cocked and locked, but I am just too used to the standard .45 1911 also having that grip safety as a second insurance against accidental discharges. For the 1911 with grip safeties, its a proven safe design to be able to carry your firearms ready.

I have 5 glocks and 5 Sig's including the 938 ! Got to say I find myself caring the Sig more than I carry my 19 or my 26 !! At 12 yards with 124 grain plus P loads it will keep a full magazine inside a coffee cup size group or smaller depending on how fast you shoot!! The gun also doesn't print as bad as my 26 /19 or my 1911 colt defender!!!!

@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+TheWuky22 I most certainly am knuckling the trigger haha. Idk why, but for some reason it feel natural to me. It's definitely not the "correct" way most folks are taught, but I've tried both ways and seem to be more consistent the way I shoot. Also noted it seems after a few boxes of ammo through a double action pistol, seems you experience more fatigue shooting the right way as opposed to knuckling. Just my experience

My only problem with the Sig P938 is the manual of arms. I personally prefer point and shoot pistols like my Glock 43, I would have to train extensively with the Sig (or any 1911 style semi auto) to attain the muscle memory to disengage the safety instinctively in a self defense situation. That is just me being honest with myself. Otherwise the Sig P938 is a fine pistol for concealed carry and really good looking handgun.
@MarylandRefugee20148 жыл бұрын
+Joe Thomas agreed, it definitely has a learning curve when it come to carry. I personally don't find it to be steep, but you're right, it definitely needs practice to become efficient... But what doesn't when you think about it :).
