I own both. Both have been completely reliable with no malfunctions of any kind. The 938 has a slight edge in accuracy in my hands and it pocket carries just a little easier. If I'm going to belt carry, I prefer a slightly larger firearm. The 365 can be pocket carried though and at times the extra ammo it holds is comforting. This is from a guy who carried 5 & 6 shot revolvers for years. With either pistol I carry the extended mags, 7 in the 938, 12 in the 365, not so much for the added capacity, as much for the added grip.

I agree, I like both as well and do like the comfort of the extra rounds. When I carry my 938 I carry 2 extra mags so 21+1 with an extra reload compared to the one extra mag with the 365 which is 24+1, however I am also more accurate with the 938. For me I think it is the grip angle of the 365, same way I don't shoot my Shield quite as well. I have recently been carrying the Mossberg MC2SC with a 3.4 in barrel and a 14+1 with another 14 and shoot it well. Still love the 938 though.

It would be a great choice. I am now several weeks after the fact and keep going back and forth. I have been carrying the p365 more recently, but I think that might be due to the holster. I may buy the holster for the p938 and see if I change my mind again. That said, if you want all metal, the p938 is hard to be for a VERY concealable piece.

Great vid, been waiting for 1 like this. I love the 365xl & want 1.. I do have the p938 extreme with a 10+lb Trigger pull. I've installed the MCarbo Trigger Spring Kit & polished every metal on metal piece I could & got the pull down to 6.5lbs which makes it super hard to group well. It does now with the Viridian R5 Laser. 15yards I can drive nails with the p938 & there's so many concealed holster options available with the laser or without. No printing at all & extremely comfortable to Conceal Carry. I bought extra 7nd mags from Springfield for the 911 & they fit perfectly at 1/2 the cost of SIG mags.

Dimension specs and ammo capacity aside, the big question is single action vs striker fire, which comes down to preferences around: 1. trigger pull 2. reliability 3. carry condition & safety thereof. These considerations are distinctly different for pistols of this diminutive size as compared to standard and compact sized guns.

Well, I own them both and they are my two favorite carry firearms. I acquired and tested many different compact carry handguns over the past year including the S&W Shield, Kimber micro, Taurus G3c, S&W bodyguard 380, and Springfield xps. The Sigs were the most reliable (no failures w/ various types of domestic and foreign ammo), most accurate, and easiest to shoot. Very little recoil on the p365 and nearly no felt recoil on the P938. I do recommend the thumb safety version of the P365, and tritium night sights for both. I love Heckler & Koch too, and the H&K Vp9 is my home defense pistol, but too big for concealed carry, and the H&K vp9 SK ("sub-Kompact") really isn't a whole lot smaller than the Vp9. So my arrangement is P365 for concealed carry and P938 for BUG (love that acronym for "Back-Up-Gun"). Bersa Thunder .380 ACP also good for concealed carry but I favor Sig quality since my life may depend on it, and keep a Thunder in each car for a car firearm.

My SIG P290RS 9mm is smaller than the P938. It's .4" shorter, .2" thinner & same height at 3.9". Also it doesn't have a safety since it's DAO. Aim & shoot. Has restrike. Not a target pistol but plenty accurate for self-defense distances. Discontinued a few years ago & I got mine just before they disappeared. Never jams, eats anything. That DAO trigger pull isn't bad. Fairly smooth & not too heavy. Less than half the price of the P938.

Very helpful comparison; thank you for sharing. I purchased the P938, because I am small of stature, and in the cooler months, I carry a Kimber Ultra CDP II in .45, and the P938 has the same manual of arms, for warmer months. A former student of mine permitted me to shoot his 365, and I thought it had the best striker-fired operation I had ever shot in a small semi-auto (I previously owned both Glock 23 and Glock 27 in .40, and liked them both, but thought the 365 had a better action than the Glocks). Had I not carried a 1911 for so long, I might have chosen the 365. But, as someone who switches from the one to the other, depending on carrying conditions, I stayed with the 938. Were I thirty or forty years younger, with little or no experience with the 1911 manual of arms, I would probably have elected the 365. Both are fine firearms. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. Be safe, and happy shooting!

Good vid. I have carried a P938 fr 4 years now and love it. However I am a 1911 fan, so ergonomics and trigger of the P938 were my personal selling points. Mine is perfectly reliable. VERY crisp and consistent trigger pull. A heavy 5-6 pound trigger pull, but that's ok for a defensive firearm. I would have liked to see & hear your option on the trigger pull and ergonomic difference. The P365 likely isn't a good first handgun for a new shooter as its light weight with stout defensive rounds does result in a lot of felt recoil. Nothing that would bother an experienced shooter, but may surprise a new shooter. Love to know those ergonomic differences with the 365 from someone who has both. Great that the 365 has more rounds, but if you ever have an incident where you need more than 7 rounds, the shooter will make the diff, not 7 rounds vs 10. Trigger trigger trigger. Practice practice practice right? The P365 has my attention for sure & I am a bit of a SIG fam boy. But I have tried MANY striker fired pistols, and just don't like their feel. Of course I own a Glock 19 and love it. But you know compared to a good single action "1911-ish" trigger they are a bit like a a small staple gun in feel. Long pull and another staple is fired. Long reset. 938 a great 1911-ish feel and operation. Great carry inside/outside waistband and/or pocket.

I had that same concern about carrying “cock and locked” with a manual safety. In my opinion though, it is much safer to carry cocked and locked with a manual safety, versus carrying something like a striker fired Glock, which is 60% cocked when chambered (with no manual thumb safety,)
@MS-mr4zm
@MS-mr4zm 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mike-Ham yeah I understand that too, but from purely physical appearance, that hammers out on the open w/ only a small indentation keeping it in place, just makes ya more concerned even if it’s not warranted. At the end of the day the P365 is similar size & holds more rounds

@@MS-mr4zm yeah, but I’m addition to manual thumb safety, the P938 also has an internal firing pin safety, as well as a hammer safety which prevents the hammer from striking the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. By every measure the 365 is superior....but ...the 365 is kinda boring the 938 is just cooler. Not sure that pure aesthetics should be the deciding factor though.

I can tell you just based on this video what you are doing weong... That advice first off is not good... You need to squeeze the trigger with your tip of your finger it should not go past the first joint in your finger... Ive shot this gun for over 10 years now. Your issue is your finger placement...

I have both and love each one equally. I tend to be more accurate with the P938 for some reason.

I'm 61 years old with arthritis. Packed 1911 for years. I much prefer the SA over the long heavy pull of striker guns. Traded my 365 for the 938. Most self defense shootings are just 2 or 3 shots. LOVE my 938 trigger!. Did you know when the Lord said "I am the Good Shepard", He was refering to the text in Ezekiel 34? Learned that today.

I have a beautiful custom bi-tone p938, three mags, mounted laser and multiple holsters that are magnetic actuators for the laser. I'm looking to trade for a 938 x macro comp. If anyone is interested hit me up.

Be Fair : you have to get your hands on the "NEW" - "SCCY" "DVG" (10+1 rounds) !! Well built, inexpensive (about $230 no red dot) , life time , no questions asked, “ life time “ warranty, that follows the gun to what ever owner has it at the time, any time . Almost the exact same size as the Sig P365, & the Springfield Hellcat . The DVG (stands for "David vs. Goliath) going up against the rest of the BIG GUN industry {Sig, Springfield etc.}. Striker fired, about a 5 lb. pull, good reset, flat trigger, ALSO, newer, better grip (than their CPX-2 which no one liked because of the long DAO & reset) {thinner between back-strap & forward/front of grip. Personally, I'd buy 3 of these instead of one of the others. NO I don't work for them.

I dislike the p938 for the simple fact that it's a single action weapon. Such weapons are usually going to be used for concealed carry, and your concealed carry weapon should never have something like an external safety that has to be disengaged before you can use it. You can train as much as you want with it... But there's no way to train for an event where you have to pull your carry gun on an actual threat. Muscle memory takes over at that point.

Totally agree, although I think the 938 is a better gun; just don't like having to do anything but pull the trigger when someone or animal is suddenly attacking.

It's just something you train with. I can understand that, but I usually use only manual safety. I have the P238, P938, P320, Beretta M9, and all my rifles & PCC have safeties. It takes a split second to disengage them and it doesn't come with extra thought or effort with practice. Often with safeties it comes with reduced trigger pull weight. I'd rather disengage a safety and have a lower trigger pull weight. I do believe the 365 does have a lighter trigger than the 938 though. Also comes with the safety of not blowing your nuts off.

@@jvcorkran you can train all day but you will always forget it in a situation where you have to draw your weapon in defense because there's no way to train for that. There's a reason that we instructors never train students to carry with safeties on or manipulate anything small on their weapon including the slide stop/release..... Because under the increased adrenaline of a threat your manual dexterities go out the window. carry with your safety off my friend.. I don't want to see your obituary prematurely.

@@jvcorkran oh and if you keep your booger hooker off the bang switch until you're ready to fire (3rd weapon safety rule)....you won't have to worry about blowing your nuts off.....or anything other thing.

@@napalmstickylikeglue We can agree to disagree, hopefully. I had an instructor that also complained that I had a P320 with an extended grip. He had a full 1911 at his hip. I don't want to carry open and a full size pistol. I've never heard of an extended grip failing. If you train properly there is no issue. When I practice, I engage and disengage the safety. The military uses safeties and it keeps them safe and functional. I prefer that route. To each his own.
