I can´t say any of this stuff moved me. It all looks so trivial. Some of the works are monumental in size, but empty. More interesting, to me at least are the buildings, beautiful inside and out. Thanks for a carefully thought out, well made video.

I've been to Berlin. I lived in Wuerzberg during the War in Kosovo in the late 90s. Berlin was a huge complex cold city all about ego and money. Surprisingly, my weeks stay was in the Ritz Hotel just adjacent to the Brandenburg Gate, which was very plush and the food was delicious. The not far away WWII historic sites were well worth seeing. There is much worthwhile things on exhibit but I have no desire to go back. Sitting here in my Texas home watching the video is enough, and I appreciate your efforts and time. Thanks

@andrewbellavie7952 жыл бұрын
@@cumbaja3456 thats a great point. I believe that there is longevity in raw work but the goalposts move generationally. Additionally, in contemporary art, there is a wider range of intelligence participating in creative endeavors, as compared to classical art where the artists we revere were intellectuals. There are some exceptions of course. It begs the question, is it the human condition to strive for perfection? Or are we just a bunch of evolved apes splattering pigment in caves?

When I was younger I visited galleries just to see beautiful art, the techniques but today art is so dark. Voodoo and sad looking cartoon characters on Hugh canvases, lazy minimalist art work maybe the right word is talentless. The last one with palony heads in boxes, my Lord what if God made us look like these artworks the earth would be such a dark and confused place. They say artist paint and create what's within their hearts and minds, their must be much darkness and confusion inside them. A famous person said the eye is the light of the body, if the eye is good your whole being is full of light but if your eye is bad you full of darkness, if the light in you is darkness how deep is your darkness.
@jeffreyolson21392 жыл бұрын
What's sad is that people still equate art with technical ability only, otherwise an artist is "talentless". Art is about communication & expressing feelings & there are limitless ways to do this. Sorry, but the world is not all light & flowers & art expresses this!

I love the heads in boxes - they are fantastic! And the voodoo art is also fabulous! They are so powerful and striking and joyfully - of themselves! Bright strong colours. They seem like the opposite of sad to me. Why should art that explores people’s diverse cultures be celebrated?
@emkiandthesundolls757 Жыл бұрын
I would say it is a reflection of the darkness and confusion in the world. It’s not wholly the artist but a reaction to the environment the artists inhabits. It’s not talentless, it’s the artist looking for freedom in a world in which the walls are closing in around us all.

Enjoyed it thanx. Loved traveling Berlin too - had the Terracotta Soldiers there last I was there. What qualifies as "art" has always been a bit of a debate for me though. Me being old-school Monet/Degas guy. I was at the Smithsonian Contemporary Art section (The Hirshhorn) in DC last year and there was a blank, white room with simply a string running through it perpendicularly. Art? Worthy of the Smithsonian? Anyhoo.. Love your voice BTW - consider radio ;) (PS: I very highly recommend the little-known art museums of Recoleta in Buenos Aires)
