I’m thirteen I don’t quite get this from my dad but I do from my stepdad. But to me he is my father and nothing less even when we scream at each other I love him. He has done so much for me that I can never repay him for. Even when I screamed at him said I wish he wasn’t here or I didn’t love him l. that was just words yes they were hurtful but the truth is that if I pick who could be my stepdad I could never choose someone better. I love him and I know he loves me and he says it sometimes but my family doesn’t show love through words but through actions. I hope that everyone has someone they can call dad and when they say dad they mean it whether it’s your birth father of not. Of course I love my birth dad but when I hug my stepdad I feel safe when I hug my dad it feels like I’m hugging a relative that I don’t know all that well but yet I do know him. The point of me writing this is to say that it’s ok if you don’t have a perfect relationship with your dad or whoever feels like your dad the most I know I don’t. I doubt my stepdad is reading this but if so I love you so much and nothing can change that.

It breaks my heart that fathers would not love their daughters. I had custody issues with my ex. I was a dishonest weak man and I broke her mother's heart. I feel so ashamed of my actions. I don't blame her mom because I know I was wrong but she couldn't forgive me and she kept me from seeing our daughter. My biological father was a horrible man. He hurt my mom in lots of ways I won't get into. Broke her sternum when she was pregnant with my second brother. So reasonably she ended up leaving after collecting three kids. She bounced through men, eventually landing on my Dad. He was buck wild at the time, not yet having the chaos of children being around to swamp his own chaos lol. But it did. Because very quickly, I became attached to him. I was the first one to call him Dad. After that, my younger brothers followed suit after only a year or two. And you know what. That six year old girl has grown up into a 15 y/o dumbass that's just like my father and practically a photocopy of my mother's younger face. Dad never left. Even when they fought and she kicked him out of the house, he came back. Made up. He didn't just run off like I expected him to. He came back saying he made the commitment and he's not leaving now. That's the kind of man my dad is. And I'd never want it any other way.

My dad lost his battle to depression when I was 6 and now I’m 15 it’s almost been a decade and not a day goes past that I don’t miss him and unfortunately I struggle with anxiety and a little off depression as well but I’m holding on so I don’t break my family’s hearts even more

This makes me sad. I was 2 the last time I saw my dad, the reason my mom left was because I apparently wanted to play and he slapped me. I honestly envy girls that have a close relationship with their fathers like him protecting them and being like cautious when they are in a relationship for the first time.
