This afternoon I was painting with gouache and I got frustrated 'cause I overworked my clouds and didn't know how to do it right. I came from Hamrib Art channel and she recommended you regarding the gouache tips so I clicked on the link she put which is your video in which you discussed the tea to butter consistency. Now I have watched four of your vids which are the 'How to Use Gouache' haha and it's 12:46am now my mom's telling me to sleep hahah but I really enjoyed all of your videos all of them are helpful! Tomorrow I'll try to paint again using the tips I have learned from u! Thank u so much 🤗 really appreciate u for sharing your knowledge 💜

Wonderful! I particularly like how the warmer touches of colour in the clouds make them appear as if they really are reflecting the sun. I'm going to look through my own photos of interesting skies and have a go at painting them in gouache, and maybe watercolour too. Thank you for the inspiration! 😊

Very interesting tutorial, Mary. As an aside, the dichotomy between "cellulose" and "cotton" paper is a misnomer and counter to reality. With the exception of plastic papers like Yupo, ALL papers are made from cellulose. In fact, cotton paper is more pure cellulose than papers made from wood for the simple reason that cotton is nearly 100% cellulose, whereas wood pulp has other structural molecules. Better to use "wood-based" and "cotton" as the dichotomy.

I've never thought of using gouache in this wet-on-wet fashion. It's not something that generally fits with my work, but thanks to you I know how to do it so if I need this effect in the future I'll be golden.

This is very helpful! Do you think this approach would apply at a larger scale? I'm planning an 18 x 24 gouache painting on a watercolor canvas. A simple sky will serve as the background. Any advice?

Thank you Mary, I'm learning to draw and paint by using library books and finding KZbin gems like you. It can be distracting to have available so many approaches to learning techniques. Your [How to Use Gouache] tutorials help me find a focus.

The gray tubes are a nice shorthand for times like this when you're working fast. It's already being mixed into other colours-it saves me a step.
