Hey good day, this is my first video of your channel that I'm viewing and it's very informative. I have a question though, let's say I'm doing a thoracic spine and I'm giving my patient breathing instructions, I would want a longer exposure time (mS) to blur out the ribs, so I would use like 40 or 50 mA with a 1-second mS? But for Chest which is on an inhale or an abdomen on a exhale, I want a short exposure time to eliminate patient motion, what mA and exposure time mS would I have to use? I'm still trying to understand mA station. Please correct me if I'm wrong at all

For a lateral thoracic spine I recommend using a breathing technique (exposing at the latter part of expiration) to blur the ribs vs using higher exposure times. For a chest you exhale at the end of full inspiration. Abdomen is at the end of expiration. in all circumstances you encourage the patient to lessen motion so you can have less exposure (a fraction of a second) overall.

Ma'am, can you please make an exposure chart from head to Toe for manual X-ray..??
@thevoiceharmonic
@thevoiceharmonic Жыл бұрын
It isn't really possible as there are variations in machines and detectors. Just remember that increasing the kv by 10 means reducing the mAs by half. That changes to be 15kv when it gets up to 80 or more. If you have automatic exposure, take note of it and the exposure measure and work out your own manual charts. In the old days people had exposure books they carried with them. Others used callipers to measure the thickness of the body portion. I never used these apart from a chart in my first days in a new practice. I worked in about 60 different practices over 45 years

Hi dear😍 as a medical student, i am interested in radiology and i want to know inside of CT scan computer program, how it’s done by a rad tech, so can you share with me any type of information,any books or something where i can read and see it, like a guidance😇thank you very much beforehand! With much love♥️

I don’t get it time exposure is the time patient was exposed to xrays ? So if i put 0.1 sec of 500mA he will only get 50mAs ? And what the 50 is multiplied to 1 sec or 0.1 sec ??
@AskTheRadTech
@AskTheRadTech 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, exposure time it is the length of time the exposure is made. The time selected (0.1 second) is multiplied to the radiation exposure amount (500mA) to get the mAs 🙂

@@AskTheRadTech so patient didn’t receive the full 500ma ? Only fraction of it

@@AskTheRadTech so patient will never receive 500mA ? Only 0.1 the value of 500mA ?
@AskTheRadTech
@AskTheRadTech 3 жыл бұрын
Remember the values that we give on the machine are kVp and mAs.... mAs is mA×time. So the patient receives 500 mA for 0.1 second.. so in total, the patient gets 50 mAs.

@@AskTheRadTech sorry 😞 im confused because the technician told me something else very different I thought 💭 that if I choose 300 mA and exposure time 1S I thought the patient will receive during this 1 second in total of 300 ma so every .1 ms he will get 30 ma and 30 x 10 equals 1 second so he will receive 300ma in a second Exposure time is the time that x ray tube emitted from the diaphragm after that 1 second there will be no more radiation so patient was exposed to 300ma in total through this second so every 100 ms he got 30ma So why it does not named mAms because 1 second is a long exposure time and this should put ms instead of s
