I don't like the lack in courtesy in UFC too... but I also think they do it for business/commercial reasons... they know the "trash talking" attracts more potential viewers and audience to pay tickets, etc.

Pop psychologist in me. Telling someone ELSE to shank someone in secret would not be in Kimura's character. Kimura spent a life time fighting hand to hand, face to face. If he needs to "take care of business" he would do it hand to hand, face to face in public. Besides, Judo is "gentleman fighting", with rules, no kicking and punching. People do not go against the grain of what they are trained to do for so long. Kimura had nothing to prove because he spent a life time proving himself in Judo.

Congrats on the step up in architecture. We went to Hawaii Kaikaku this morning. Impressed with the accomplishments of their students. Lots of National championship wins. A short warm-up followed by randori.... lots of randori followed by some newaza technique training. They had a thick climbing rope attached to the 30’ ceiling so that is a singular clue, randori revealed more. Solid stance and gripping technique, even the young ones were good at breaking their opponents lapel grip. I could see the Japan influence as they are patient to attack and they are always looking to move forward

The more I learn about the grazies the more I am disgusted about them. The disrespect from the casket to the fact they said it was a moral victory to them fighting kimura and losing while lying about his and their size and also having the rules rigged to accommodate their typeset. Bjj is a disgrace to jujitsu and just a sad sad shell of the true art judo is and always will be. Judo is and will forever be class. Also kimura and him fighting light a gentleman because he trains in judo is such a beautiful sentence to hear. Judo is the real self defense of an real man. Of course wrestling (especially catch) and sambo are effective as well but the true art of judo is just so beautiful and brutally effective. Thank you for your hard work chadi you are a great plus to the judo world and spreading the truth

Hello Chadi, I'm a fellow judoka from Morocco. Congratulations on your academic accomplishments, first of all. Perhaps the following details might bring you some closure about Kimura's supposed involvement in Rikidozan's murder: in his autobiography, Kimura seems to hint that he was indeed linked to the murder, stating that a yakuza member called him that night saying that ten gangsters were on their way to tokyo to kill Rikidozan. However: 1. Only one gangster was involved in the murder or Rikidozan, not several 2. Even according to Rikidozan himself, the stabbing stemmed from a regular nightclub argument, it was conducted nothing like a premeditated assassination - which the Yakuza would know a thing or two about, given Japan's peculiar political history. From what I gather, the wound wasn't even lethal, and wouldn't have killed Rikidozan if he hadn't gone against his surgeon's advice and resumed eating and drinking alcohol right away. 3. The gangster was a member of Sumiyoshi Kai, the gokudo which operates primarily in Tokyo, so why would members of Sumiyoshi Kai have to "go to tokyo" intending to kill Rikidozan, when there were likely plenty of gang members there already, especially in a neighborhood like Asakasa, where the stabbing took place (even though it is today a residential and commercial neighborhood, wiki in japanese tells me it was from the late 50s to 1980 a bustling, hip downtown like ginza, full of nightclubs, restaurants, etc) I genuinely hope you read this and i hope it reassures you to some degree. Peace.

No evidence whatsoever that Kimura sicced the Yakuza on Rikidozan. He just said that he believed he would meet a violent end. Its bizarre how people twist that into some sort of evidence that Kimura ordered Rikidozan's death.

My understanding about Rikidozan's murder is that the Japanese mafia was angry at him for not following the agreement in his match with Kimura. At the time the mafia controlled the prowrestling business so they were behind the original agreement to have 3 matches, the 1st a tie, the 2nd one of them wins, and the 3rd the other one wins... Because Rikodozan broke that agreement, they had to take revenge. This doesn't mean that Kimura sent the killer. They killed Riki for their own reasons regardless of what Kimura thought of it.
@wasabi5338
@wasabi5338 2 жыл бұрын
Kimura didnt want Rikidozan killed too, Mas Oyama offered to kill Rikidozan himself but Kimura just told him to let it go. So yeah you're right. Kimura had nothing to do with his murder.

I don’t like the propaganda that the Gracie’s spread back in the day, but I do give credit for the match due to the fact that they wanted a win by submission only (which is obviously big nowadays) and Helio admitted years later that when Kimura pinned him, he was unconscious for a short time (it is funny how their own rules did backfire since Kimura won by submission). I agree with you that brandishing a coffin is taking things too far, but the current state of the UFC really has nothing to do when it was first started. The people who competed in the beginning and up to maybe 5-10 years ago didn’t push the pro wrestling trash talk that the guys do today, so that has nothing to do with the Gracies.

I don't believe that Kimura had anything to do with the murder of Rikidozan. Japan has a shady history when it comes to the Yakuza's involvement in Professional Wrestling and Fighting Organizations. They fund them and set the rules. Such as the much loved Pride Fighting Championships from Japan, an organization where fight fixing happened regularly. Rikidozan was told by the promoter what to do and did not keep his part of the agreement for the matches outcome. A situation where I am sure lots of money was lost by the Yakuza bosses funding the promotion. They were going to kill Rikidozan, and Kimura would have no say in the matter. Unfortunately Professional Wrestling is ripe for corruption, so organized crime is there to promote it. Especially in post-war Japan. So yes, in a way Kimura did deal with organized crime members in parlaying his skills to Professional Wrestling. More than likely just some greasy promoter that they use who is not actually a member of said syndicate, but runs one of their legitimate businesses, so they can stay hidden from the public.. On the bright side though, that would probably been his only dealings with them.
@MansMan42069

I believe there was an instance of this during the Sakuraba vs Mezger match. Ken Shamrock had an agreement with PRIDE that Mezger would only fight one round (due to injury). Mezger pretty much beat Sakuraba in that round but then the fight was changed to three rounds. Furious, Ken told Mezger to leave and the referee ruled it a forfeit, giving the win to Sakuraba.
@BestWayKilla
@BestWayKilla 2 жыл бұрын
@@MansMan42069 That happened because Pride had promoted the Sakuraba-Royce fight to the moon and back before the tournament even started, and they were watching that massive money match-up going up in smoke in the very first round as Mezger clearly got the better of Sakuraba, so they changed the terms of the contract on the fly and turned to that old Japanese lifeline, the extra round. Ken justifiably went apeshit and pointed out that the contract they had was for one round, then ordered Guy out of the ring when they insisted on the extra round. Later on, as Mezger later said, they trotted out some subordinates to throw under the bus and blamed everything on a "mistranslation" before the Lion's Den camp got some concessions out of the company after they threatened the promoters with having to deal with an angry Ken any further.
