Now I assume he meant playing against him in person, but I can't say that for certain. I just know that I certainly wouldn't challenge him to Mario as I would be no match for him especially since I don't even own a Nintendo. April Fools Idea: What if EVERYONE turned good? It'd be highly chaotic, especially if you started in Dragon Ball rather than Z. But imagine it! The one I really wanna see is "What if Super Saiyan really was just a legend?" Their defeat of Freeza on Namek would require even more cat and mouse behaviour than they already did, and it would make Freeza's arrival on Earth for revenge even more terrifying, since Goku never managed to beat him in battle. What it'd ultimately lead to is lower power levels in general and an increased focus on teamwork, strategy, and clever use of techniques. Without Super Saiyan, the earthlings wouldn't be so far behind the Saiyans. Yamcha would be a valued member of the team. Vegeta would have more than just Goku as a rival, as Piccolo would be the strongest for much longer than he was in the original series. Future Trunks could still defeat Freeza on Earth, but without Super Saiyan, and Goku's training on Yardrat could potentially result in more than just instant transmission, given he badly needs some power boosts to defeat Freeza. The android saga would be more desparate but I think with teamwork they could still bring them down. The cell games would be very hard, Cell himself would be weaker but defeating his regeneration would be difficult (though if Goku managed to learn forced spirit fission...). The buu saga could play out wildly differently as there are way more options than just Vegeta for a majin form. Say... Yamcha for example. As things jump into Super, the Super Saiyan God ritual would be the first exposure to a transformation the Saiyans had, outside of ultimate Gohan if that still happens. Golden Freeza also probably wouldn't happen, or rather, he wouldn't be gold specifically, as he chose that to mock Super Saiyan, which doesn't exist in this one. It'd be so good.

I do really appreciate that the rational for these are almost always "we don't think we could do this in a way that would be fun and satisfying to our audience or us, but there are plenty of other people who might have already done this well/have already done this well". It's nice to see a continued acknowledgement of the other creators in this fan space (although the directly mentioned one might be official?) as people who are worth seeking out and listening to their what-if takes. I haven't been here for too long, but it really seems like Masako doesn't want us to miss out on something we might enjoy by forgetting about the rest of the community. Actually, the two exceptions to the above reason for not doing a what-if are "sexual harassment isn't funny" and "we've decided to make it a milestone", which I appreciate.

They were people who were doing What Ifs way before us like Qaaman or Carthu, but since it kinda became an integral element of this channel, we saw growth of many other channels, like Salad Saiyan, Sacred Saiyan and many others! Sometimes one person can convince us, that an idea is worth following, sometimes we need a lot of people to show their interest in a particular topic.... like it happened with Turles. I know you said no crossovers, but slump and dragon ball has already crossed over in the anime twice!(albiet filler, but still) You don't have to bring every aspect or tone of the slump universe to the dragon world (like the sun having a face and being woken by a crow.) Just have penguin village and it's characters be on some other continent on earth. The dragon ball earth is a big place and we only know a few select locations. Maybe even have it where Dr senbei worked with the briefs in the past and have that be how he was able to make arale. Theres plenty of potential for how she could affect the red ribbon, tournament or even king piccolo saga! But if you are firm in your "no crossover" rule then that's fine too.

If Goten was born first he'd be Gohan. The thing that differentiates the two is Chi-Chi's mindset to parenting and Goku's presence or lack thereof.

@@dip.918 I honestly disagree because I've never had any impression that Goten has the same potential for scholastic pursuits as Gohan. Yeah, that could just be Chi Chi's difference in attitude when parenting them, but it's just as possible that she tried with Goten anyways and gave up after seeing that he just was nowhere near as smart or focused as Gohan is. Goten seems way closer to Goku in terms of intelligence, so it's very possible that she realized he'd never be capable of going as far as Gohan did and decided not to push him down that path. Besides, this is an idea for a What If, so the author of this story would have some creative leeway if it ever got made. But I don't think that leeway would even bee needed, because I can't see any way that Goten could end up becoming the same as Gohan no matter how hard Chi Chi pushed him down that path.

On top of that, even if it was JUST their personalities, I don't see any reason why it couldn't work. Califa didn't just turn into female Gohan in her What If, so why can't the same happen with Goten here? I know he doesn't have a particularly strong personality, but I think that it would go different if he grew up with Goku and Piccolo in his formative years the way Gohan did.

I always had an idea for a What If about Buu. What if Fat Buu had won the fight with Evil Buu, and ate him instead? It starts like the anime had shown, Fat Buu splits off from Evil Buu and the fight begins like it does. Fat Buu is on the ropes, and goes for the candy beam attack. But this time instead of blowing back the beam, Hercule makes his first ever bold move and yells to distract Evil Buu and the beam actually connects this time and turns Evil Buu into chocolate. Fat Buu, celebrating his victory with Hercule, eats the chocolate and absorbs Evil Buu’s power. The resulting being looks similar to what Super Buu, but less menacing and more good. A being of pure good with the strength of his evil counterpart under control. This Version dubs himself Ultra Buu, taking on a hero persona akin to what he learned from Hercule as well as Gotenks

Watching this, I was struck with an idea in the vein of "What if Perfect Cell turned good?" that is closer to "What if Perfect Cell became a begrudging ally?" So, simple set up: What if, during the leadup to the Cell games, Buu was released. With this greater, terrifying threat (that outpowered Cell himself), the Cell games got canceled as you had a "war makes for strange bedfellows" scenario where Cell was basically forced into joining the rest of the heroes to take down Buu. We've seen in Super that Frieza will ally himself, reliably even, with Goku and the rest, when the situation needed it, and it would the the Frieza part of Cell that would make such a teamup the most unlikely, so that event in Super sort of allows Cell to remain himself, while being open to such a thing. I also see this as a chance to treat the threat of Buu as more sinister and darker. No fusion. No Kid Trunks or Gotenks. Mr. Satan could play a remarkably different role. Without having been destroyed by Cell yet, 16 is given a chance to become more. The more I think about it, the more interesting facets arise, but I think I lack the significant depth in both Dragon Ball lore, and fanfiction, to make much use of the idea myself.

I'd like to hear the continuing adventures of Pata. Masako's Saiyan OC. What I'd like to know the most is how Pata meets Puddin and make the ship "cannon". For those not in the know, around the time Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 had released Masako on his channel was telling the tale of his OC Pata who he was playing in a Dragon Ball-themed Pathfinder campaign with some of his friends. During that time Team Four Star was doing a let's play series on Xenoverse 2 and the character they had made for their playthrough was a grey Majin girl named Puddin. For some reason, fans started to ship Pata and Puddin. Even fan art was made. A male Saiyan and a female Majin. Definitely an odd couple. So having Masako develop a story where Pata somehow encounters the Time Patrol and meets Puddin for the first time... And since Masako has said in the past that he supports the Pata x Puddin ship...

I've got a few ideas but there is one that constantly runs around in my head... What If the Humans in Dragonball had a "Super" Transformation? Now this could be a similar process to how Saiyans get Super Saiyan, but they could only get the equivalent of "First Grade" of Super Human, but Unlocking Potential and Mastery make them very potent. And each Super Human form is aimed towards that person's most potential feature. For Tien, it could be Raw Strength. For Master Roshi, it could be Perfect Technique For Chiaotzu, it could be Unmatchable Psychic Power You get my thought process.... The only catch would be it can only be accessed by "Pure" Humans, so the Half Saiyans would not be able to access this power

I'm very glad you have put this video out :D For some reason you now have me wondering if you would consider tackling the "What if Goku had remained close to his Sun Wukong roots, being a monkey boy, probably instead of being a Saiyan" concept, naturally you would very likely need to adjust the Raditz aspect of why he comes to Earth, or one or two other things (I'm not saying Saiyans can't exist btw I'm just saying Goku would not be one, or might be an anomaly of some sort, in that he doesn't go Super Saiyan in the normal sense). But yeah I do love a lot of what does and does not happen here, especially when it comes to giving love to none Saiyan characters.

I've always wanted to see a what if video or even series on if Beerus and Champa were gods of opposite universes so all the characters and rules of the universes are the same just swap Beerus and Champa. I would just like to see how Beerus would react to beings like Hit, Frost, or the typically weaker saiyans of U6 and how Champa would handle the likes of the stronger saiyans, Majin Buu, Frieza, and even how they would grow with eachothers angels

One sort of what if I sorta wanna see is one with pan, gohan and videls daughter. i personally think she’s kinda underrated, and the subject is a lil bit iffy since her character in GT is a big thing people seem to think of whenever she’s somewhat tackled, tho I’d like to see a what if including her. like what if there was a “future pan” of sorts, coming instead of trunks to the main timeline, or really just a what if with her being a main focus. Masako, if you want to know how to do a crossover what if right, then may I recommend Damon: What If’s What If Sonic was in Dragon Ball, otherwise known as Dragon Ball: Chaos Crossover. Damon masterfully combines the worlds of Dragon Ball and Sonic into one world in several different ways, such as the Lookout being Angel Island, Frieza destroying Planet Vegeta being because of the Black Arms instead of being told to by Beerus, Kami basing the Dragon Balls off of the Chaos Emeralds and lots more. It’s actually one of my favourite What If’s in general, and I highly recommend it.

I am sure your creative mind will outdo mine in terms of why they would land on Vampa first. What if Tarble was sent to Earth too? He and Goku would cross paths and would benifit from one another. Tarble becomes strong. Goku grows exponentially with a Saiyan training partner from early on. Vegeta would have more reason to change earlier, and more dramatically maybe. So many benifits!

What ifs are amazing it helps us see what'll likely happen if things were different and sometimes what ifs can become reality in canon which is incredible thank you masako but there are what ifs you DON'T do since well yeah they are weird and too wack or already covered

One thing i kinda liked especially in the vein of What if Raditz, was the exploration of the GT timeline and how it correlates with DBS. Thats something i like and I would like a possible one off story of how DBS could be incorporated into GT. While we are getting Super Heroes and a possible arc that will tell the actual end of Z, its fun when you explore the idea of the Dark Shenrons meeting universe 6, the Super Dragon balls being used to turn Omega into a Dragon God, etc. while I wouldn’t want a repeat, I would like to see more situations involving gods of destruction, angels, zeno, etc., interacting with the dragons in some capacity.

I personally think that there should be a Tarble related story, for being Vegetas brother he is SEVERELY underrated and honestly needs more spotlight time. So if we could see something like “What if Tarble had gone to Earth” or something cause King Vegeta still sent him off to a remote star cause he couldn’t fight could easily be earth as well and turn into something very entertaining, like when he finally has to confront his brother and stuff like that :)

I've been working on a what-if for the better part of 3 years, it may even be four. At this point I've finally reached a point were so much is original it no longer makes sense to keep it a dragon ball project. I had another project I was working on that I could never nail down, so I'm now in the process of moving over all the original stuff and completely changing the stuff that isn't. It is such a breath of fresh air to finally be able to do ideas that were basically impossible. The limitations of dragon ball were really burning me out. I've tentatively named it Divergent Sum, but I doubt that will stick. One of the cool things is the rework of "Ki". It is now much closer to Avatar, but with more elements. So much world building need to be done, in fact the work that needs doing is seemingly unending. I like to have a world fleshed out first then drop my characters in where I think is most interesting.

I think an interesting idea would be what if Shin (Universe 7's Supreme Kai) showed up earlier in the story. So basically when if he wasn't a bystander and did more to raise the moral rating of Universe 7 itself. We know from Super that Universe 7 had a super low moral rating from a combination of Shin not being the best at his job and Beerus destroying planets left and right because food. I feel like if Shin showed up earlier in the story or even did more maybe the moral rating for Universe 7 would go up. You could have him show up either after Goku comes back from Yardrat after Future Trunks mentions the androids in the future (you can even maybe bring Chronoa into the mix if possible) or during the training for the fight against Nappa and Vegeta near the beginning of Dragon Ball Z. I think it would be an interesting idea but you don't have to do it if you can't. Please keep up the good work. You're What If? videos are great and I love watching them.

I would love to see a what if about Raditz coming back as a villain! He now canonly has as much potential as Goku, and he's been in hell for decades! Just imagine what kinda hellion super Saiyan he could have. It would also be a great way to introduce demons back into the show, and how they fit with gods of destruction and angels running around.

Uh... The "Female Vegeta" scenario sent my mind thinking and I ended up in a place I'm not too happy with. Vegeta is very obsessed with the "proud Saiyan race" and all that stuff - especially early on... If he was female, don't you think we'd end up with someone who'd see it as her duty to "birth the new generation of Saiyans"? And unless there are retroactive changes, that leaves us the choice between creepy stuff with Nappa, or her butting into the marriage between Goku & Chichi...

I've always found the problem with the whole "What if Vegeta went to Earth instead of Goku" shtick is that everyone has Vegeta live a similar life to Goku; meet the same people, get put in similar situations, and so on. Realistically, if Vegeta came to Earth instead, his life shouldn't be anything like Goku's. The chances of him actually landing in an area close to whee Goku landed, or meeting all the same people Goku does is next to none, and even if he did, it took very specific circumstances for Vegeta to foster the relationship he has with them. He would treat them wildly different in this scenario. Heck, most stories with Vegeta always have him end up with Bulma. That's another thing that happened due to very specific circumstances. There's no reason to believe that Vegeta and Bulma would even meet, nor any reason to believe they'd be interested in each other if they did. Vegeta is not Goku. Even if he went to Earth instead, things would be completely different in most or all accounts

Rather than a crossover, what if it was a soul swap instead? Similar to the Caulifla story except it happens... a bit later in the narrative. When the character are already accustomed to their worlds and then are suddenly thrust into new ones with new rules.

I know you said you wouldn't do any type of stroy that involves the original Dragonball not happening, but I think I might have a What if that could have big ramifications for Dragonball Z and Super. "What if Beerus had his vision before ordering Frieza to destroy planet Vegeta?" Now, I know, on first glance, this looks like a number 4 type of What if, but i can imagine Bardock still sending Goku away, due to his fear of Frieza destroying the planet, only this time, they are called to be told that, from that day forward, they'd be under Beerus' rule (in order to make sure that no one dares lay a single fingers on the monkey men), whit the frost demon stuck as a mere warden to make sure that every Sayian trains hard to be a worthy adversary for the G.O.D. And while Goku has his normal adventures on Earth, his homeplanet would become basically a huge boot camp to please Beerus. I see a good potential with this story, especially from Z moving forward. There could be schemes from Frieza to have things his way, a sub plot were Gine tries to leave the planet to go looking for Goku and even the possibility that, when Whis catches wind of the absence of one or more Sayians from the planet, decides to keep an eye them, maybe deciding to bring Broly and Paragus back to planet Vegeta (to take them away from Vampa) while leaving Goku on Earth to see how he would grow up. What do you think about this What if? Is it teaseble or even possibile acording to what MasakoX said?

On Crossovers, I agree on the difficulties with merging them. One thing I do is find compromises that make sense. (I have two Dragon Ball/Transformers crossovers. One in which the Transformers become androids and the other is Cybertronians being a thing in Dragon Ball.) Also "What ifs that would drastically alter lore", haven't you done several what ifs that do that? (Basically any what if where Trunks murders the present androids in cold blood for no reason other than their alternate timeline counterparts' actions I consider to be drastically altering the lore because of how plot important they are.) XD

One crossover that would work really well is a what if a vultrumite landed on Planet Vegeta. A half saiyan half vultrumite that would take on Frieza and rule the galaxy. And possibly even the universe. He would be too OP tho lol

How I did it for s Dragon Ball and My Heroe Academia crossover is I fused the two worlds. Ki exists alongside quirks so even if your quirkless or your quirk is weak you can still be a hero using Ki as it can strengthen quirks to an extent mostly if they are emitter types. I gave Yamcha a transformation quirk where you can take on the form of a humanoid wolf.
