imo the threat of death would have meant all the fighters would be at most 10-20% stronger through out after finding out the DBs don't bring you back. Power / Strength would have been far more important, so the first few deaths wouldn't have been avoidable, but after that they would probably be as strong or stronger against threats, not weaker. Yamcha and Tien would be at Piccolos original level and Piccolo would have been just shy of resurrected Goku. I just think the hero power scaling drastically shoots up at least 10-20% with Bulma / Capsule Corp creating kinetic energy shields that can take at least one or two medium-heavy blasts, ki enhancers, and other defensive gear, ala the tuffles, in Bulma's eyes it lands on her that the future is also going to be a technological one should Goku and the others die. Just imagine the earth forces breaking out a small civil service corp in Ginger Town and holding Cell off at least for 5 minutes, they still die but Cell is like WTF? Lasers man! It's all about the lasers!

But I don't see Bulma being the one to utilize it, I think it'd be a better fit for Gohan since he's also really smart and has experience in combat. Wait a minute. If Goku dies and can't be brought back, it could mean that Dr. Gero would not have woken up Android 17 and 18. At least not for a long time. With Goku out of the picture, Dr. Gero and 19 would have been the androids that destroyed the cities, but not looking for Goku. No, they would have been trying to rebuild the Red Ribbon Army. Terrifying thousands with their revival. And maybe Android 16 would be fixed to help serve in the conquest along with Cell.

But then Cell could have eventually longed to be perfect so he could have snuck around, found 17 and 18, absorbed them and become Perfect. Gero would have been angry at him for this and would have tried to force him to stop. Cell would have ignored him so he would send 19 in to try and teach him a lesson. Cell swiftly kills 19 and then either kills Gero or just takes his place as the leader of the Red Ribbon Army. 16 gets upset at this and tries to challenges Perfect Cell but ultimately fails. Desperate, they could have gone to Bulma saying the Cell has gone rogue and needs to be stopped. Bulma refuses at first but eventually complies. Now begins the battle between the New Red Ribbon Army and The Two Scientists with 16.

I disagree with the whole Goku dead, because i personally believe that with Master Roshi and Krilin dead, Goku will be training with more ferocity with Mister Popo and Kami because all he had left is Bulma, and he will truly understand that he had to be the absolute strongest and beyond to protect his last friend. So yeah, i do believe that Goku will be stronger than in canon when he faced Piccolo Jr. The same thing can be said about his time with Chichi and Gohan, his drive to train (and so protect friend and family) will be stronger than ever and so will continue to grow, and finally will be so much stronger than in canon. But not only Goku, Tien as well, i personally believe that having Chaotzu dead forever plus his inability to defeat both King Piccolo and Piccolo Jr, plus the fact that Goku is (at the tournament) so much stronger than him will kinda drive him mad (in a good sense, not Vegeta's mad) to become more powerful and maybe seek out Kami after said tournament to become his student. I can't imagine Kami refuse since Tenshinhan is a great warrior, so can help Goku protect the world from the threat that represent the still living Piccolo Jr (I imagine Kami using Tenshinhan as some plan B if Goku fails). So yeah i can totally imagine Tenshinhan meditating in the Lockout when Radditz arrive on Earth and so Kami tells him about it, and Tenshinhan goes help Goku and Piccolo kill him and they did it since Tenshinhan and Goku are stronger than in canon. With Radditz dead, and Goku not dead, Piccolo Jr will not be able to kidnap Gohan. And... i'm tired right now lol. No seriously, English isn't my first language so... it's kinda dificult to continue my reasoning here. But just to say, that Goku will not be the only one affected by this What if scenario, i believe that Goku WILL train harder than ever to never let his last friend to be killed by whatever threat them, same logic goes for his family later, and Tenshinhan will be stronger as well since Chaotzu is dead and Master Roshi (who he respected even more than his own master) is dead too, will be a great factor for him to be stronger as well (plus his own rivalry with goku).

I know this is from 6 years ago, but couldn't they also... You know? Used the Dragon Balls? Make so Earth is never in danger again or either make Goku or Tenshihan stronger by unlocking their potential or recovering Goku's tail so he can use and master Great Ape? There's countless ways to do so. Also, Goku's trauma could've started with Tao Pai Pai and the village, which would be accentuated by the death of Krillin and his friends.

Let's not forget: the reason dr. Gero and by extension the Red Ribbon Army's hated Goku was because he got in the way of their plans for world domination. He probably would still build them so that he could take over the world.

@ al qu, I think imperfect Cell would still have Freeza's DNA considering that the main Cell we see did come from another timeline, and if MasakoX is saying that Trunk's timeline is unaffected by the what if scenario, it is reasonable to say that Cells timeline isn't changed either Baby Cell that is still within Gero's lab in the main timeline won't, but that version gets killed off very quickly anyway

I think my major issue with this one is that with the fact that nobody can be revived by the dragonballs but they *can* grant immortality, nobody has with the natural fear of death or even just because they purely desire the ability to protect the earth, wished for it.

I feel that during the fight with Vegeta, having more powerful allies like Piccolo and Tien would have changed the outcome more drastically. 1. Vegeta was able to escape because Goku instructed Krillin to spare him, a more hardened Goku likely wouldn't have objected to such a high threat as Vegeta. 2. Even if Goku had requested that he be spared, someone such as Tien or Piccolo (who would be the ones in Krillin's position, standing over a beaten Vegeta) would not have listened to Goku given the inherent dangers of letting Vegeta live.

Honestly given how OP the dragon balls are, you would think someone would fucking wish for something useful that is not reviving people for once, seeing the future, some bs device that does something really useful like teleport fuckers across galaxies i dunno but this is a kid's show so maybe that would be a bit too contrived.

Here's a few I can think of right now: What if the Ginyu Force sided with the Z fighters on Namek instead of Freeza? What if Raditz arrived on Earth earlier? What if he arrived later? What if Grandpa Gohan survived Goku's Oozaru form? What if Super Saiyan God was a strong enough form to surpass Beerus in the BoG Saga? What if Gohan went Super Saiyan on Namek instead of Goku, and did so much earlier? What if Goku went Super Saiyan 2 on Namek instead of just Super Saiyan? What if Babidi was a good guy? What if Whis refused to train Goku and Vegeta? What if Freeza killed Goku on Namek right away instead of toying with him? What if Future Trunks didn't go back in time far enough and arrived after Goku died of the heart virus? What if Piccolo didn't shield Gohan against Nappa's attack? What if Goku never befriended any of his former enemies like Yamcha, Tien and Piccolo? What if Goku never bumped his head, but still remained a hero somehow? What if Future Trunks still couldn't go Super Saiyan when he arrived from the future?

I'm upset MasakoX, because I thought that since the Native American died and he can't be revived; Goku would take his son and have him stay at Master Roshi's place because Goku felt bad that the son was going to live all alone like how Goku lived after his Grandpa died. Which is the main reason why Goku revived his father so he wouldn't be alone, but if reviving people couldn't happen he would probably send his son to live at Master Roshi's then the Son would want to train to become strong to fight people like Mercenary Tao.

Shin may have begged him to stop Buu's resurrection too. So Basically: If the Dragon Balls didn't resurrect people, Beerus would have actually been forced to EVENTUALLY do his freaking job for once.

Okay I know there is a Multiverse but why would Future Trunk's DragonBalls still work in bringing people back to life? I understand for other What Ifs that his universe is different but still similar enough to happen in conjunction with the hypothetical timeline. If we get *META* with this The DragonBalls not resurrecting people seems more like it would be a Writer's change than in a verse change so if we were following this story fresh from when it came out Trunk's Dragonballs resurrecting but not in the main timeline doesnt make sense in my opinion.....But its just a what if I guess so no reason to take to seriously I reckon lol

Keep in mind Trunks had ALREADY arrived in a past that was different from his in that Imperfect Cell was already there. Also, in his timeline there was no Android 19 & 20. Since his 17 & 18 were weaker than the main timeline's, it's probable they rebelled earlier and never got whatever upgrades made the MT versions stronger.

In Trunk's timeline, Kami saw all the destruction that King Piccolo did and used all his power to make the Dragon Balls' able to bring people back with the rules of the original DB.

That's not how time travel works in Dragon Ball. There aren't an infinite number of timelines, there's only 3 when Trunks goes to the past (6 after the events of the Goku Black arc). If the dragon balls could resurrect in Trunks' timeline then they'd be able to do it in the past as well. Unless Kami altered the balls later on to resurrect, but then that would defeat the point of Masako's "what if" idea. Masako never mentioned Kami doing that so the balls shouldn't be able to resurrect anyone in Trunks' timeline either. Actually, Trunks' timeline probably would have never happened, so him coming back to the past is just a bad story idea. The rest of the "what if" scenario is good though.

Yoseqlo Yoseloq This couldn't have happened since both the main timeline and Trunk's timeline were identical untill Trunks traveled to te main timeline. Which caused events to play out differently there. That is where the timelines split apart for the first time.

Immortality isn't invulnerability. They were still far weaker than any of the threats they faced. They don't get a Zenkai boost and by the time Vegeta gets there, they're already dealing with planet destroying levels of power. At best they'd be a bundle of broken bones floating in space.

Vegeta knew full well that even with immortality frieza would be an issue even then, and he was right considering all frieza has to do to stick it to vegeta is blow up the planet, sure vegeta wont die but it would suck since frieza just has to run away leaving vegeta in space. Honestly i would just ask for clairvoyance and a know it all device similar to the guy in super who knows errything but less annoying. Maybe a much better body like say gee i dunno that of Frieza but to be honest the limits of the dragonballs do not get explored all that much last time i checked, all i know about earth dragon balls is u cant do planetary level bs or higher and u can only revive the same person so many times.

I can see where you are going with this, your thought process is imma go obtain the power of someone else and honestly that could work but not sure what the limit would be, technically at the very least you should be able to add Kami's powerlevel on top of your own since you are agreeing to the wish and thus u can be altered. Honestly i would prefer something like the body of a superior being like say Frieza o even an angel, again not knowing the limits of the dragon balls is soo fucking annoying because if you take what the rules say you would think technically kami cant give you immortality or revive you but for some reason the dragonballs can. But if you go off too much into it, what is keeping the likes of your typical human to create a perfect replica of Frieza's body and then insert your memories and soul inside of it. and this is the tip of the iceberg in a sense.

HA! No. Here's how it really goes. The saiyans never find out about the dragon balls. And none of the other sagas happen. The end. The saiyans never go to earth as neither of them liked raditz enough to avenge him. Which means frieza never learns about the dragon balls and never attacks namek. With goku dead the aa saga never happens. As the whole reason for gero doing all that in the first place was to kill goku. Obviously the cell saga never happens as cell is never created. With all that said and done, the buu saga is also unlikely to happen as babbidi needs the power of stronger fighters than earth can provide to resurrect buu so he just skips our planet entirely. Obviously super never happens because there are no super saiyans, let alone ssg's.

clericofchaos1 Gohan is still born, kidnapped by Raditz, and kidnapped again by Piccolo for training. A child beating Raditz would pique their interest, as it is news about another Saiyan alive in the universe. Goku would fight Vegeta and Nappa, then Gohan would continue to train with Piccolo. After that, Gero probably doesn't build the Androids, so Trunks never had to come to this time. Frieza could come to Earth because of Vegeta's defeat. Someone would probably die (most likely Piccolo) and Gohan would go Super Saiyan. That would attract Babadi, and Buu might end up released.

It's not in Vegeta's nature to do that. He'd have gotten cocky and demanded to see his final form before killing him. Remember, Vegeta is the one that told freeza to transform into his second form before he decided to. Saiyan blood requires them to want to fight full power opponents.

Ah see that's because it's not accurate to call it time travel, they're really alternate time lines which you can travel to one or the other, they both move forward at the same speed, you can't spend 2 years in your original timeline then take the time machine back to seconds after you just left their timeline it'd be 2 years later in that timeline as well. That's why the only thing Trunks could do for his timeline is become strong enough to beat the androids and imperfect cell on his own.

I'm with you up until Trunks. I love Trunks, but he CAN'T EXIST in this what-if. Remember, his timeline is just the future of "our" timeline, until he and Cell changed it. And in our no-resurrection timeline, Vegita and Bulma never get together, therefore, Trunks never comes to exist. So either the Androids destroy all humanity, then Cell combines with them in the future, or Dr. Gero never makes them at all after hearing that Goku had died already.

Also, Gohan is still born. Chichi never dies before Buu saga, so Gohan is born. Gohan probably would've stepped up to face most of the threats Goku would have faced. With Piccolo as his mentor, he would definitely become a strong fighter and maybe even hold his own against the likes of Frieza, Vegeta, and Dabura. Who knows, he might even unlock the power of the Super Saiyan transformation!

4:21 I'd argue that having those deaths be permanent might make Goku go SSJ. 9:15 I'm sorry, but Vegeta wouldn't be leaving earth. Piccolo wouldn't stop like Krillin did. Vegeta would be killed. 12:21 I don't think that Bulma would kill 16, 17, and 18. I think she'd try to reprogram them at worst, causing them to probably kill her and things turn out like in Trunks' timeline, or just let them go and tell them that Gero and Goku are both dead so they have no reason to be bad guys, potentially letting them skip the Android Saga and go straight to their Super lives, sans Krillin. And remember that even Imperfect Cell was on par with Piccolo, if I remember right he could fight him even after he became a Super Namekian. Cell alone might have gotten so powerful from humans and the remaining Z Fighters that he could either defeat Babidi or fuel Buu's revival, assuming he hadn't absorbed 17 and 18 and destroyed earth already. Then either Buu or Cell would end up killing Freeza someday, and maybe Vegeta would be strong enough to beat them somehow, but probably not since he'd not have had Goku as a rival to try to surpass. Though it's also possible that Freeza would survive a first encounter with either of the much stronger villains and decide to train into Golden Freeza, making him strong enough to kill them and take over the rest of the universe.

I think Most of this is right up until Trunks. In this scenario Trunks timeline is changed because he doesn't exist. Let's say Piccolo and Gohan train some more and even get their power unlocked by Guru and manage to kill vegeta (Or tien and Piccolo aren't having Gokus excuse to fight him again and kill him there) and then because Trunks doesn't exist Bulma comes back in time to warn them about the androids. Without Vegeta Piccolo and Gohan go into the room of spirit and time (Via Piccolo remembering it after fusing with Kami) come out before Cell can find 17 and 18 (Because he found them only because of Piccolos fight) They then destroy cell and peace is restored until Babidi and Dabura show up, Without Goku and Vegeta Buu doesn't wake up but Gohan would lose to Dabura and would have to retreat to learn how to use the Z sword. He would then come back stronger than ever and defeat Dabura and babidi before Buu is revived. Beerus can't get pissed off without Buu and Zamasu never meets Goku therefore no Goku black. The end

interesting what If! I really enjoyed the take. I'd like to offer a couple of observations that might change things. 1) with the dragonballs no longer having the properties of resurrection, there would be a plethora of unused wishes. I do think that without the ability to wish people back, bulma and the others may see the growing threats of enemies and consider making wishes that would bolster their defenses. perhaps immortality for their strongest warriors? 2) without resurrection, goku 's motivation for training would change, as would town's and even piccolo's. We know that emotional triggers play a huge role in dragon ball. You even did a 3 part series on it! these deaths of krillin, chioitzu, roshi, etc and the realization that they could not be resurrected could have led to a larger power increase by goku. if goku got stronger faster, it would stand to reason he'd have a shot at surviving. with this, an enhanced goku couldeventually be involved in training gohan, who would in turn grow stronger at an increased rate, as we have seen from all of the children in z. In general the stronger the master, the stronger the student becomes and the faster the rate of improvement this could all really impact the end results in the regular Dragon Ball Z timeline, and with these details we may end up with sufficient reasoning behind trunks timeline remaining similar to the one that we know now. I'm rambling a bit but I hope that this makes sense and adds to the discussion. Thanks for reading!

I think you missed an opportunity here. The interesting question to ask in this scenario is: if the Dragon Balls can't revive people, what do Goku and the gang use them for instead? But instead of replacing the resurrection wishes with something else, they just kind of... don't make wishes at all? I think this scenario deserves a revisit!

I always found that there was still peril in Dragon Ball, even with the power of the series' namesake. My reason is that even though people could be wished back there still has to be an ally alive in order to do so, not to mention that the dragon balls still need to be active. When King Piccolo killed the dragon we thought that was the end for fallen cast members and when Piccolo died we thought the same. Also, consider what would have happened had Goku lost against Freeza. Everyone that was still dead would still be dead and Freeza would have eventually conquered Earth, killing the rest of the population. Overall, the peril isn't about permanent death possibly not being a thing, it's about being able to overcome adversity in order to allow it.

To be honest, most of the peril that happens in dragon ball is self inflicted to the point i cannot sympathize with the characters. There are a few cases where i can legit sympathize with them because i know full well the dragon balls cannot save them, Battle of the Gods is one such case, Goku black Arc the dragon balls would not really help in the late game of that arc but that whole thing excalated due to saiyan retardation. Also if memory serves one can ask for immortality, sure it wont work vs Buu or a god of destruction or Cell or Frieza, would work on Vegeta however because he lacks Hakai, absorption or the bullshit powerup rates . But yeah i agree that peril is in there and i love frieza saga for not allowing saiyan retardation to go as high as it does later on. Also had Super Saiyan Goku somehow lost to Frieza depending on how long it takes him to lose, the dragon balls would be a thing once again and goku could be revived, it would just be quite painful to pull off(considering goku would had died on a nonexistant planet) on top of the fact that Frieza is salty and is coming for earth, which he does either way. All of this is not even taking into account Trunks could simply be a dick about it and go back in the past and beat frieza but his existance is less likely without goku.

+Devil Summoner I wouldn't say most of the peril is self-inflicted. They were legitimately captured by Pilaf and Goku had no control over his transformation. The Red Ribbon arc wasn't either, nor was King Piccolo or Piccolo Jr. To be honest, anything prior to the Cell arc couldn't be considered self-inflicted. For Cell and Buu I would say was self-inflicted, but the circumstances weren't caused by every single person. Krillin was dumb for destroying the remote and Vegeta for allowing Cell to become perfect, but Trunks tried to stop him and Goku and Gohan were training. In regards to Buu, that was all Goku so I would feel bad for everyone else having to deal with Buu. The BoG arc was all because of Beerus, the RoF arc all Freeza, though I do wonder why Piccolo and Gohan didn't rush to check things out, esp. after they noticed the dragon was summoned. The Zamasu arc was a weird one, but I think ultimately it wouldn't have mattered whether or not Goku wanted to fight him the first time or not since Zamasu was just bad and would have eventually started shit, anyway. The current arc is all Goku. Overall, most of the characters are just trying to do their best when things get messed up and it's not their fault. If Goku lost to Freeza how would he be revived? Goku can't be wished back with the Earth dragon balls and had Freeza got his way during the fight Piccolo would have been dead, meaning that Guru wouldn't have been brought back to life for the 3rd wish. It still revolves around characters surviving for the dragon balls to be used. Also, if Freeza won he wouldn't have been so badly damaged and would have made it to Earth before Goku would have been revived since they saved him for last.

Namek saga was self inflicted because it was the aftermath of the stupidity of the shit that happened in saiyan saga. here is why, if Goku had not let go of raditz's tail, he would not have had to die like a moron(this puts him at a disadvantage against nappa and vegeta however) lets say raditz goes on like normal and errything else happens just like in the Anime except the Z warriors do the sensible thing and gee i dunno, wait for goku given how useless they were against Nappa(also wishing for immortality OP on this point of the anime).Vegeta and Nappa certainly would had done enough damage to the world but not blow up the fuck up that quick(this one i am not so sure on if they can actually blow up earth this fast but i am working on the assumption they cannot), in any case saiyan saga had some dumb casualties(almost all of them but specially piccolo's) which is good for character development but still dumb on his part. This would had landed an easier victory against the saiyan Arc and Namek would had never happened. The Series would however end at Cell saga most likely however. We might disagree a bit on what self inflicted means given i am coming off as nitpicky but i believe this is how things would had turned out hypothetically. To be honest, I don't think they would have had any way of winning in that case, at least against Vegeta since Goku needed the Kaioken to keep up with Vegeta. Was Goku stupid for not letting go of Raditz's tail? Yeah, but he didn't really cause anything that wouldn't have happened otherwise, in fact him dying gave him the abilities he needed in order to make it through the rest of the arc. They did try to wait for Goku, Vegeta even gave them 3 hours to allow them to do so. Also, none of the Z warriors would wish for immortality because they don't want it and would just be an example of the dragon balls taking away from the peril. Even if Goku became immortal he still wouldn't have been able to stop Vegeta from blowing up the planet without having the Kaioken or the Spirit Bomb and being as weak as he would be. I would say that Vegeta could destroy the planet because that was what he meant to do with his Galic Gun and I think Vegeta would know what he is capable of. The deaths in that arc aren't really dumb, though. First of all, had Chiaotzu not blown himself up he probably still would have died because he was the weakest out of all of them. Tien died by putting all his ki into last attack. Piccolo's death, while it was a sacrifice and seems dumb to you for some reason, if he hadn't that would have just meant that Gohan would have died instead. Even then, it still would have been possible for Piccolo to die and even if he didn't the death of Chiaotzu would have meant that Namek would still need to happen because the Earth dragon balls couldn't bring him back. To be clear, in this paragraph I'm assuming that Goku died and came back as normal since I concluded previously that everyone would have been screwed had Goku not died. No, I think we agree on what "self-inflicted" means, I just don't think that the Namek arc was self-inflicted.

Ah good its nice to have a proper conv for once. Well the reason why i think Piccolo's sacrifice for Gohan was dumb in piccolo's part was because if he dies, the dragon balls would not exist since he is linked to kami and in my head Gohan < dragonballs since immortality can still carry you in this arc specially if you are goku, the one counter argument on this is that they would take too long but this i think might be able to turn the tides against the saiyans. It is dumb from the logical stand point considering that you are giving up the dragon balls(Mcguffin that allows from immortality to revival) for Gohan, but character wise and as far as development i can understand it since Gohan practically sees Piccolo as a surrogate father of sorts and down the line this leads to the hilarious goku is terrible father and piccolo is best father joke. And yes Namek could had been avoided but not necessarily self inflicted since i might have generalized a bit much nothing particularly stupid was done to lead up to it(goes to show everything right with the saiyan saga).Maybe i have been exaggerating the power of the dragon balls too much but the wording for them is weird considering that they allow wishes within the power of the creator(immortality and revival but for some fucking reason no insta killing things that arent as powerfull as say the saiyans or freeza) and also i kinda blame Toriyama for not really getting creative with the wishes on them, although i guess if he did everything would be too easy but that is an annoying contradiction at times, you could argue they encourage lazy writing in a sense but not getting into that can of worms. PS thanks for reminding me they actually tried everything to stall the saiyans on that saga.

Trunks comes from a alternate timeline, anyway. He came to one that was similar to his past, but was already diverged when Cell arrived two years prior. That means, he'd already crossed timestreams. This scenario has him cross into a timeline that's much more different than his.

I commented for the first time under your last video, saying that your what ifs rarely end in tragedy, that butterfly effect is absent and that you tend to stick to the main plot points, like the namek ark happening. Next video I see, there is a tragic story, the plot goes offroad, there are no super saiyans or namek ark, and most evil guys "get to win". I don't even know if you read my comment or if it was just a common request, but good job! I loved this scenario. A few thoughts: 1) Imperfect Cell would have probably been stopped by Goku. Without being revived and without anything to interrupt him, Goku would have had a full five years training in the Other World and would probably be strong enough to mop the floor with Cell. He may not have achieved Super Saiyan but he would have potentially raised his base power and mastered the Kaioken to the point where it’s like going Super Saiyan. 2) With no other choice, Shin would have probably trained and instructed Goku to take out Dabura, because Gohan would have been really weak in that case. Goku would have been the one to wield and break the Z Sword on a block of katchin, released the Elder Kai, had his potential unlocked and achieved his ultimate form. If Future Trunks was able to do it, Goku would have no problem taking on Dabura and Babidi. Majin Buu is not resurrected. 3) Battle of Gods doesn’t really happen. Even if Beerus has the prophetic dream about the Super Saiyan God, he won’t really find the answer from Goku, won’t visit Earth and would probably kill Vegeta before abandoning his search.

Anne Marie Nimbere At that time Piccolo and Goku were still enemies. Piccolo taking a long hyatus to get stronger so that he could still defeat Goku. That was when he came up with the Special Beam Cannon in the first place. Now here presents Goku holding a stronger enemy that the two mutually want to defeat. Piccolo takes two birds out with one stone: the invading force and his ultimate target Goku. Why would he warn Goku in any scenario if he is getting what he wants all along? Goku dying is almost like a fixed point because there is no logical reasoning unless goku specifically befriends Piccolo before raditz shows up.

I was going to say, if goku didn't kill Vegeta, pretty sure tien would think about it to long only to have piccolo blast him to the NEXT DIMENSION! I think frieza might grow a bit curious as to why Vegeta the strongest of his little toy monkeys happens to have disappeared out of existence. Assuming piccolo is only partially heartless he won't try to take over the planet.....yet. Assuming thing carry out the same frieza may send apool to check up on Vegeta' last location to see if their is someone to recruit to his army. Assuming piccolo, kami, bulma (because she's bored and thinks she could learn a lot by visiting other races in the universe), Gohan (because he's still kinda being kidnapped) and tien go to namek (tien because he doesn't trust piccolo still and wants to look out for Burma and Gohan). Apool shows up on earth only to cause a little trouble and then leave the planet not finding anything. I think piccolo would train with nail and grow his heart to being a bit easier than what it would have been. Guru unlocks tien's and Gohan's power. Assuming that the training here with the only masters they know of tien would probably stay and train for a while and perhaps get wished back home. Piccolo trains with tien and lets bulma and Gohan head home back to earth after finding out these dragon balls don't let people get wished back to life either. The two arrive home only to find things ruined slightly as part of a town here and another part there is blown up and trashed. Gohan is whith his mom now and bulma goes to find out from her dad what had happened. Assuming apool got the info he makes it to namek only to fight a charged up tien and piccolo. Only to be defeated though possibly not killed and returns to Lord frieza. Either way apool makes it to frieza. If apool is beat up frieza is slightly amused and sends dadoria to take care of the pests. If apool doesn't know where the strong fighter is he continues on like it was nothing. Mean while, bulma meets trunks who warns about the androids. Taking the dadoria route the frieza member arrives on planet namek and finds the two fighters tien and piccolo only this time they are joined by nail. The three of them doom it out. It's a close battle that reminds the z warriors about Vegeta. They question whether or not to let this stranger live. If they do, they aren't sure who will come fighting next, perhaps someone much stronger. Against the judgement of the 3 warriors Guru shows compassion and let's the pink warrior leave. Dadoria returns to frieza only to have frieza annoyed now and sees that the job will be handled personally. Guru senses frieza approaching and that this being is far more powerful than the three could handle, unless piccolo and kami were to fuse. The two do not like it, but since they have no choice, they agree. The fusion takes place just after the battle with zarbon. Frieza is finding it interesting once more that 3 warriors could defeat some of his finest group of soldiers, but if they don't comply he will eradicate the entire planet. Guru is concerned as is kami, so the two agree that kami and piccolo should fuse once more. At this point though it is unnecessary Guru would probably give piccolo the unlocked potential power up. While that power up is going on, frieza sent the ginyu force to fight tien and nail. The fight begins with Recoom and guildo. Tien remembered his training with Chautzu and how to best handle psychic powers. Nail is able to defeat recoom. Then jeice, burter and ginyu all 3 decide to fight. Nail is a bit worn down and tien would have a difficult time fighting all 3 by himself. Then piccolo shows up in his newly powered form with dende. Dende heals nail and it's now a swift and easy victory against the 3....until ginyu desires to change bodies. The switching continues for a bit and assuming everything turns out alright dende then heals tien, Neil and piccolo back in shape. Piccolo sense frieza is now no problem and can easily defeat him on his own. Frieza calls the bluff and piccolo lays a smackdown on frieza The following path is as follows piccolo man handles frieza in any form until frieza decides to blow up the planet and piccolo stops it. He then obliterates frieza securing safety for namek. Tien thinks that training on namek has been good for him but he really misses launch and is thinking of starting a new gym in order to train and prepare the rest of earth for whatever threat may come next. Piccolo stays on namek and guru dies and is replaced by Mori. Piccolo then trains with nail and maybe piccolo has a new warrior clan (I don't know just spit balling here) Tien is back on earth, bulma destroyed dr.gero's things and the few friends including chichi and Gohan meet up at capsule corp. Gohan has been studying almost non stop and has gotten kinda weak since having been with mr. Piccolo but chichi still teaches him some things from here earlier training as well as the oxking teaching Gohan the kamehameha. He (may or may not perform it but may just show what his master would used to do). Gohan like his father watches it and then does a pathetic version of it but soon gets the hang of it thanks to the little he remembered from piccolo's training. Tien then offers to train Gohan for the martial arts tournament in order for the family to help make some money (even though bulma still helps from time to time) chichi reluctantly agrees and now Gohan trains with tien on how to get stronger for the tournament. This is all for now I'm getting tired, but I hope you've enjoyed so far :)

I think we're missing a huge player in all this: Gohan. Gohan potentially could be much stronger than his father, and under Piccolo's watchful eye, would've grown a fair amount after Guru unlocks his potential (having gone to Namek). HOWEVER, it would be Trunks from our timeline that would tip the scales. Trunks, who was trained by Gohan in his original timeline, wouldn't give up so easily on Gohan and would likely train him after Bulma deals with Gero. He'd teach him how to go SSJ and, when he is ready, would train with him in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. I also think Piccolo would work even harder to get stronger without Goku around, and would likely bridge the gap to reach at least his power level in the original timeline. But there's one technicality that we haven't considered: Goku. Goku might be able to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber since one year in there is technically one day outside, solving the 24 hour time limit issue. In this 24 hours, he could pass on techniques to Gohan, including the Spirit Bomb and the Kaioken. AND Goku can also be summoned by the Dragon Balls to fight larger threats alongside the Z fighters and would dedicate his afterlife to training with King Kai. I think this would become Gohan's story, and with a little help, he'd be able to stand up to more than you'd think. And let's not forget that Vegeta might return to earth to get his revenge, only to see Gohan achieve SSJ and would be motivated to stick around to get stronger as well. And just imagine a fusion between Vegeta and a Gohan who never stopped training. Then Beerus blows up the planet because no SSG (and even with Goku temporarily revived, there's no Goten to complete the ritual, unless they use the Dragon Balls to make Videl have twins, lol)

As well as imagining a Dragonball Z without resurrection, it'd be interesting to imagine the story opportunities if they got rid of it for the followup to Super. Idea: some new or old villain (most likely Frieza) wishes on the super dragon balls for the power to erase someone from existence when he kills them, then destroys the dragon balls so his power can't be reversed. This introduces the idea of permadeath to Dragon Ball, and means there's far more at stake for our heroes.

Funny this what if scenario appeared. I was actually talking with my friend about a what if scenario with the dragon balls too only with a different dark twist to them just for fun. This'll properly be long an I apologize for it X_X We were talking about what if the dragon balls the normal ones had the same kind of consequences to using them... an I don't mean they make the world blow up in GT. But the consequences of such wishes could be vast an different things, simillar to 'something wicked this way comes'. Such as wish for eternal youth and beauty but then become completely blind being unable to enjoy it ...which could make the Z fighters a lot more reluctant in using them each time there is a major threat an they have to get rid of this threat as soon as possible before more damage is done. Along with having them to be that much more cautious for their survival within the battles because these wishes are so risky... So it's a matter of them fearing death giving it consequences again even though you can be brought back to life due to another fear that the dragons power would do something to screw you over in return....ok your'e brought back to life...but your now in a rotting body like a Zombie... or ok your back to life but at the cost of the life of someone close to you instead. That would be how to make Death somewhat matter in DBZ again....you can't have such wishes without sacrificing something in return... kind of method.

well trunk wouldnt of existed cause vegeta and bulma would of never become a thing so they couldnt get warned. nor would buu of been resurrected since it was all the energy from fighting that helped bring him back.

I would add the following: Trunks does not return to his own future to squander, instead he returns to the time where Son Goku is about to sacrifice himself and helps him and Piccolo to beat Raditz. At this point, he tells Goku about the Super Saiyan form. This encourages Goku to train hard, albeit he does not meet King Kai now (or even ever?). Goku is able to achieve the Super Saiyan form but never learns the techniques of the Spirit Bomb nor Kaioken. Wow! This is fun and somewhat confusing! Haha! Well done!

If Piccollo doesn't think the Saiyans are coming, he'll try to take over the world now that Goku is dead. Also, the Saiyans have no reason to spend a whole year in space just to get there. Also, Piccollo just kills Gohan. He doesn't need him as a meat shield against the Saiyans. Also, Gero would have a new target. He might need more time for the whole android thing since he isn't as driven by revenge, but why wouldn't he try to stop Piccollo from taking over the world? He becomes a Cyborg, Trunks wouldn't show up because the Dragon Balls can't revive people in this scenario, which would include his timeline, Gero kills the much weaker Piccollo and revives the Red Ribbon Army which takes over the world themselves. This might actually prompt Bulma to take more time building the time machine and get the resources to travel far enough back in time to prevent Goku's death in the first place, because the world is not being completely desolated (just a terrible dictatorship), so she isn't under as much pressure. She goes back, tells Goku what happens, he knows not to trust his brother when he begs for mercy so he doesn't have to sacrifice himself, he survives and so does Gohan, Vegeta turns up one year later because he wants to see Goku dead, kills him and the Z-Warriors (because Goku didn't train with King Kai) and prepares to kill everyone to sell the planet to Freeza. Popo tells Bulma, she takes off in Kami's spaceship amidst the carnage, asks the dragon for her future time machine, travels back in time, warns Goku and Tenshinhan about Radditz, Vegeta and Gero right after the tournament arc, so Goku trains like hell with Piccollo and Tenshinhan. Gohan isn't born (because he has no time to make Chi-Chi happy). So Piccollo and Tenshinhan, with fewer moral qualms than Goku, confront Radditz, lie to him that they killed Goku, kill him and the earth is safe for a while, until Babidi arrives. However, no one has enough energy to give a huge boost to Buu being born. So they prevail with Shin's help in defeating Babidi before Buu is resurrected. Later on, Beerus shows up after waking because of all the time travel shenanigans and blows up the planet. The End.

I'd suspect that if the dragon balls kept all their powers except resurrection and the threat levels faced remained the same then there would have been a lot more pressure for characters - even heroes- to preemptively become immortal before facing threats, which would become really stupid really quickly.

It's more of an alternate timeline that is normal (remember that there are 3 trunks and 2 cells in that saga: Dead trunks, Baby Trunks, Time-traveller Trunks, capsule Cell and Time-traveller cell)..

Sorry but that doesn't help me to understand. Originally there was only 1 timelune. An alternate timeline was created when Future Trunks traveled in time. There's no reason for the time machine to take Trunks to a timeline that is already alternate to his instead of his original timeline like it did in the series.

Masako some things concerning the saibaman battle. Vegeta is the one who suggest after Yamcha shows up that they should take turns given they have matching numbers now. Piccolo adamantly disagrees and wants to attack all at once, Krillin was the voice of reason and convinced everyone it would be best to take turns. Speaking of Krillin, Yamcha chooses to fight for his fellow Turtle comrade based on the fact that Krillin had already been brought back with the dragon balls, Yamcha was fighting under the assumption something could go wrong and it would be fine because they had dragon balls. so two things Piccolo rallies Tien Shinhan, Yamcha and Gohan into a battle royal with the saibamen and they all fight knowing they have no safety net.

So what about Namek's Dragon Balls? Can they resurrect? If so, would they have resurrected Goku and Krillin and everyone else who died? Also the "What if?" ended at Z but why not take it further? If it went to Super, Beerus would kill Frieza (Freeza?) and Goku would be alive (Namekian Dragon Balls) so BoG would happen. Resurrection F wouldn't but what about Vegeta? He'd be mad that he was beaten! After intense training he would have come back to kill Gohan and anyone that helped beat him that was still alive. I was surprised he didn't come back in the scenario. After BoG I imagine Super would have continued as normal. Except maybe Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan... I dunno, that's for you to work out Masako! Can we please have a Part 2?!

Hmm... this is a really interesting theory, but I have a few little questions about this scenario. 1. What would have happened with Gohan growing up? I assume that he'd have a vastly different life with his father being completely gone. 2. Is Dr. Gero was killed before he could make 17 & 18, wouldn't that mean that they'd still be Lapis & Lazuli? Also, if they were still human, doesn't that mean Cell would still be trying to hunt them down to obtain his Perfect form? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it said he needed their cells to obtain his Perfect form?

How would Future Trunks exist if Vegeta never goes back to Earth and make his business with Bulma? Doesn't that mean that Future Trunks can't warn them about the androids since they were made to kill him, but he is dead already? And Cell wouldn't be as strong as he was since he doesn't have Frieza's cells. Also Gohan won't achieve ssj2 against Cell and goten wouldn't have been born in the Buu arc, so no gotenks would exist at all. Wow the series would've been really boring with all of these changes compared to the series we know and all that is because of the dragon balls. 😀

Raditz never comes, Vegeta and Nappa never come to earth. Frieza doesn't find out about the dragonballs and there's no trip to Namek. All the Z fighters' power levels would be radically lower than they are when Future Trunks arrives. Also, no Super Saiyan. Trunks' timeline is normal, so he'd be surprised to see just how weak the Z fighters are here. I bet he would teach Goku Super Saiyan and all the Z fighters would train very hard for the androids. Goku gets heart virussed and the androids either kill all the Z fighters or all the Z fighters flee the scene and keep running from them. 17 and 18 wouldn't be activated just yet. I'm going to be positive and say the Z fighters manage to keep Goku out of Gero's hands until he gets better. He defeats the androids. Either that or Trunks gets back by now and kills them himself. By now, Cell will have turned Perfect. I'm pretty sure he could find Android 17 and 18 and with noone knowing about him, they will first discover when he comes to them. I'm thinking he would give them time to train, since he likes the challenge. Goku and Gohan go into the hyperbolic time chamber and Gohan turns SSJ2. He still defeats Cell, Goku still dies. Since Vegeta has never been on earth, there is no present Trunks. The start of the whole Buu saga stays pretty much the same, just without Vegeta. When Shin goes after Yamu and Spopovich, Goku and Gohan go with him. Goku could take Pui Pui with ease. Since there's no Majin Vegeta, I'm thinking Goku and Gohan would have defeated Babidi before he could revive Buu. I have no idea what would happen next, but I'm pretty sure it's over now. Alternate version: Goku's stupid challenge loving heart takes over and he decides to give Buu enough power to be revived. (I know, this is dumb, but it's just to prolong the thing). Goku fights Buu. Gotenks never exists because no Trunks. Either Goku kills Buu in his SSJ3 form (not sure if he had the time) or things go as normal, just without Gotenks. Buu goes Super Buu, Gohan goes Mystic. Gohan defeats Buu, since there's no Gotenks to absorb and even if Piccolo would be there, it wouldn't be enough for Buu to defeat Gohan. If Buu were to somehow still absorb Gohan, the only chance for things to get right was if Goku would get absorbed and stayed normal inside Buu, like Vegito, but I doubt that. Either Buuhan gets even stronger having absorbed Goku and proceeds to blow everything up again, he kills Goku and proceeds to blow everything up again, or Goku somehow gets everyone out of there. From here, either Kid Buu is created or Goku gets Gohan to a safe place and tries his best to keep Buu busy until Gohan can fight him again. Buu is either killed by Gohan or Goku has to fight him on the Kai planet. With no Vegeta to keep Buu busy, Goku would've lost the fight. My bet is on Buuhan defeating Goku. Earth is blown up and Buu continues to rampage through the universe.

well if raditz never fights goku, vegeta never fights goku and namek saga never happens then goku wouldnt be even close to powerful enough to become a super sayain! remember he needed to be at least near the level of friezers fourth transformation to become ssj! so he is too weak to ever turn ssj without all those battles! and with that the androids wouldnt be close as powerfull as they were in the show cuz none of those battles happened and dr gero wouldnt see the need for that huge amount of a power to create them, and cell either wouldnt exist or would be significantly weaker!(not having genes of vegeta or friezer!) so trunks would hack them with ease even if cell came back from a normal timeline he would be too powerfull for everyone...trunks could defeat him but that is up to debate, besides that cell can never become perfect cuz either the androids are destroyed by trunks before he arrives or he arrives in time but the androids are too damned weak for him to have any affect and make him perfect...so cell gets blue balled either way after that either babidi never comes to earth cuz lack of powerful fighters to draw him there or he comes and wipes the floor with everyone cuz well dabura was pretty much as powerful as perfect cell sooo...nobody is even close to his power...by this point every ones dead whether buu is awakened or not! and well after buu being resurected nobody in the whole galaxy is even close to his power sooo...the worlds end! cheers m8!

I think the resurrecting could be effective if there were some kind of "trial". Something like, "if you die and you want to return back to the mortal realm; you'll have to prove it" with some kind of burden-like challenge set by the Kai's/King Yemma. And, if you meet expectations, they can grant you life back to the mortal realm. Spit-ballin' here.

Actually, something else that could have happened is that Imperfect Cell could have been such a big issue that Piccolo and Kami still fuse, and he trains Gohan some more and they, along with Tien, take out Imperfect Cell, with possibly a Namekian they met on Namek becoming their new Guardian because...consistency. OR, Piccolo, never feeling the necessity to fuse with Kami, would enact upon King Piccolo's desire to conquer the world. So, in this scenario, Piccolo either becomes Earth's greatest defender, or it's tyrant. Something else is that Gohan, seeing Videl, because I think he'd still have become the Great Saiyaman, getting beat down would've been enough to make him go Super Saiyan for the first time. Spopovich would then drain his power, and Shin, Piccolo, Gohan, Kibito, and possibly Tien this time around, would go off to fight Babidi and Dabura. Except it don't go so well. Maybe Majin Buu does get revived from the damage our heroes do take in battle, and Buu get revived, or someone, probably Piccolo or Tien, decides that a weak Buu is better than a full power Buu if it's really inevitable and Makankōsappō'd or Kikōhō's the crap out of Babidi's ship. Buu revives weaker, but still a threat, eat Dabura, and Piccolo kills Babidi, thinking that it'll make things better. It makes things worse, so Shin takes them to the Sacred World of the Kais to for Gohan to pull the Z Sword. Elder Kai gets released, and decides to unlock Gohan's true potential. Tien goes back to Earth to track down Buu and attempt to prevent more deaths. Buu has his character moments with Hercule, and Super Buu gets created. However, this time Piccolo tries to buy time, but humanity still gets mostly extinct. Gohan eventually returns to Earth and, without anyone strong enough to really fuse with to make a difference (maybe Piccolo fir strategy?) or distract Gohan, he eventually destroys Super Buu. And thus Dragon Ball Z ends with 90% of humanity destroyed and Gohan being the third strongest in the universe. And of course Chi Chi is upset that since all of humanity is destroyed, there's no way for Gohan to become a scholar and provide for his future family. The remaining Earthlings (assuming them to be Gohan, Piccolo, Tien, Chi Chi, Bulma, Videl, Hercule (and Bee), and the current Guiardian) can either decide to stay on Earth and rebuild their world, or take Piccolo's old spaceship and go to Namek to live there without solitude. What do you think Masako?

Id argue that Imperfect Cell wouldnt have even came back to the main timeline, since the entire reason why he did was because Trunks was able to kill 17 and 18 in his timeline. Without Trunks getting strong enough to beat them, Perfect Cell would likely become a thing in the wrong timeline~ However, the entire buu thing would likely happen, and spin out of entire control.

I agree up until the Raditz fight. Goku's self sacrifice is made with the knowledge he could come back to life. he may not have done it if he thought death was permanent.
