Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel! In this video Joe asks me some questions regarding my pilot career/pilot life.
When did you become interested in aviation?
What was the reaction when you told people you wanted to become a pilot?
What was your childhood like?
Has your personality changed?
What was your first step to become a pilot?
Did you get a job immediately after graduating?
How did you deal with the financial stress? Did you ever think about stopping?
Does your pilot school still exists? And did you for an integrated or modular course?
What were the selection criteria you had to meet in order to be accepted for the flight school?
Do you remember getting your first job and taking off for the first time?
Have you ever had an incident or critical situation?
Which destinations do you like?
When did you start your KZbin channel?
Being a pilot, having a social life and a KZbin channel How do you keep everything together?
What is the first thing you do when you arrive at the hotel?
What do you do to keep in shape?
You wrote an ebook on how to become an airline pilot, it seems like a lot of effort, why did you write it?
What is on your bucket list?
Thank you so much for watching this video! If you have any suggestions please do not hesitate to comment below and maybe I will be answering your question in the next video. If you liked my video do not forget to SUBSCRIBE and THUMBS UP!

That's a great Comment, Peter. You can tell just by a glance how some people are 'right' for certain roles. They walk into a room or sit down for an interview, and you KNOW. This young lady has a tremendous air of competence about her. I don't think 'driven' is the right term (in my experience, driven people often have no time for anyone but themselves); perhaps it's 'self-assured'. She's born to shoulder responsibility. In America she'd probably have been singled-out in her formative years and would now be in training to be an astronaut. It's a wonderful thought to know that there are people of this calibre all over the world who are piloting jets because they NEED to, not just because it's a 'cool' occupation. On a more frivolous fantasy note, she's just the sort of candidate Starfleet would want as a starship officer! [I'm thinking of the Captain Janeway character in the Star Trek 'Voyager' TV series...] :-)

Great friendship you have, it's a treat to watch. Even though it's probably inconvenient for both of you and your partners, I think it's hilarious that so many people want you to cheat on your partners so badly and are just openly asking you to.

When I worked as Flight Crew the first thing I did after arriving at the hotel was go to the swimming pool (most hotels had one). Dutch Pilot Girl, try it. You may like it. Any flight, especially a long one, is tiring. A swim helps stretch the muscles, and relax all over. It's great!

Great video, although I and I'm sure others would like to have known more about Michelle. How her life was growing up, her family, did she have any real struggles going through flight training, were there time, when she reached her destination does she stay near the hotel, or does she wander around the cities? What other things does she like to do; such as painting, cooking, hiking, scuba etc. I hope the questions she asks Joe are about the things I mentioned. I do love watching them together. Now if we could get both of them together with MentourPilot, that would be awesome.

I love watching you two together, you can see the friendship. BUT, Captain Joe, you will never have hair as nice as Dutch Pilot. I love how you banter back and forth. I got my Single Engine Land ticket in 1980, a C150 can have a huge takeoff roll when you are hot and high. You know you are in trouble when you depart the Denver area in a c150 and spend the next 10 miles flying around the Prairie Dog Holes until you can start to milk the flaps up. Those were the days. Steam Gauges, DME, VOR, Transponder, Single radio in the stack, and an entire right panel that had acres of open space. The only thing automated in those days was gravity. The fan up front stops, you have one option ... descend. Most of the rental planes still have Ventury horn to spin up the gyro's.

I had no idea you started out with ryanair. Over a 5 year period, I flew frequently with ryanair between edinburgh and dublin. Everyone always made fun of ryanair, but those people had never been on a plane in their life. My experience with ryanair was always a good one and I love to see a ryanair plane coming in to land at edinburgh. I'm usually sat in the mcdonalds car park, which the planes fly over on approach or take off. I've also seen the ryanair plane circling prestwick many times. It's a good sight. Have to admit though, watching a 747 coming in to prestwick is an awesome thing to see.

Future videos: A) Healthy things for pilots to do off hours & B) Crisis management You two make great videos together. I liked the A320 vs 737 program. I asked Michelle about microburst weather approaches. I had heard an argument about how traffic piles up with these long shallow approaches. The argument states get them there and down with STEEP descents (6% or greater) and full flair/low or no power landing like the shuttle. What are your thoughts?

Hi Michelle! My suggestion for a future video would be about navigation. How you program the VOR and how the flight plan is decided in advance. Also, what happens if there are restrictions to fly over certain countries or zones or bad weather with too short notice. Does it cause a lot of distress and that ends delaying a flight? Keep up the very good work you've been doing in your channel. Fly safe. Tot ziens!

So here's what this life is REALLY like: 1. Most pilots are stuck at a regional for life. Spotless career record? Sure. 2. Most pilots are road warriors for life. Nobody knows you out there. 3. You can lose your medical at any time. Game over. Months for a special issuance. 4. You have a $125k+ note to pay which MUST be paid- even if not as a pilot (#3/#6). 5. It is "not" a high pay job. Regionals pay low wages. You WILL still pay your debts. 6. You face lifetime jeopardy sim and line check events. Check airman didn't get laid...? 7. Reduced life span, melanoma, and lowered sperm count go with the high gamma. 8. Expect occasional bad apple crew pairings lasting days on end. 9. You WILL be working holidays. Kiddies wonder where you were on Christmas, 4th, Easter... 10. 5 hour commutes on both ends of every trip because you can't afford to live in base. 11. Major diet of pack food, fast food + whatever is in walking distance of a hotel. 12. Airlines down-cycle. Your seniority goes bye-bye. Back to FO poverty. 13. Airline jobs enjoy very poor lifetime compound interest earnings. Look it up. Huge. 14. But oh, you get to fly to Europe occasionally for free. Standby seating only. 15. The con job now is a sign on bonus which never repeats. 2nd year- back to poverty. 16. Its mainly outdated aircraft. Hot when hot, cold in winter. Breakdown prone. Filthy. 16. Regionals do essential service to the remotest cities in the US a lot. Podunk time. 17. Assignments are never guaranteed. Mad dash time. Forgot something? Sorry, gone. 18. Airlines misuse 117 "emergency" all the time. Tired pilots go well beyond duty limits. 19. Many hotels are a circus. No sleep. Call out for lack of sleep sure. You are not paid. 20. How many do we need to see this is a hard, low paying, risky, stressful career?
