I have to agree with you on this one... I like my present workflow and the MPC Live 2 has become my go-to instrument. I had the Live, but quickly upgraded to the Live 2 for the speaker so that I literally do not need to carry anything else when I take it outside with me. Installed a terabyte SSD, loaded some sounds, and I'm good. I thought the speaker was a bit of a gimmick, but the speaker sounded better than I was expecting! Only NI stuff I use today is Komplete 13 via Ableton Live, but I get a different feel/vibe when I work on the Live 2. Akai was able to retain some of that "MPC DNA" within these modern versions and that's why I think it's better than Maschine right now.

@@THEKINGOCAESAR Same here... I've had the original Maschine, but it felt like it was just a software/controller emulation of a production workstation. You were tethered to a laptop or desktop. I'm not surprised that the Maschine + has standalone feature and that's a good thing.

I’m deciding to make a purchase between the two of these drum machines. I’ve used machines for 10 years and I’m more disappointed in the price range of the machine plus and the fact that it’s not truly standalone because truly standalone means it doesn’t need a power supply, which is why I’m leaning towards getting the MPC live 2 Now with all that being said what I’m having difficulties with is trying to decide if I want the MPC live 2 because of the workflow you know how long is it gonna take me to learn how to use it how to make a beat versus something I already know like machine

No doubt you are going to be crazy fast on machine. You already know it, but even tho there is a learning curve to the mpc if you make beats you will be able to catch on fast. Also there are so many videos that explain step by step how to do what ever you need to do. Hope this helps.

Nice video comparision, highlighting why in your opinion you beleive the MPC is better than the Maschine Plus, but I say nether is better than the other. I'm a Toraiz SP-16 user mostly among other standalone gear that I own, including the MPC One and have also owned the Native Instruments Micro in the past. Trust me...I get it. At the end of the day...we all have our personal preferences and bias of what gear we love most and think is the best, but truth be told...it is really an emotional reaction among the community that helps to generate competition and videos like this, translating to sales for the companies that do not necessarily put money back in our pockets. I'll say it today as I have many times before...loud and clear above all the hyped up commercials and baised reviews, it is not so much the gear as it is the imagination, talent, skill, and creativity of the beatmaker /producer behind it that makes the gear great. And feature laden gear does not automatically elevate it to a higher level of greatness or translate in production terms to a better music, than gear with less features. I have personally seen workflow and production on the MPCx that was hard to watch...downright embarrassing and it was not just me that recognized this. Not so much because of the machine, but more so because either the user was having a bad day or maybe just had not spent enough time learning the bread and butter necessary to make a decent beat on it. It could have also been the pressure of those watching on KZbin or simply not preparing adequately for filming the video. Whatever the case, the perception was that the MPCx was not all that, but it wasn't about the machine not bringing that shine...it was due to the performance or "lack of" from the producer. It is also well known among the beatmaking community that some simply thrive in limitations and workarounds, which actually help the user approach the production in a abstract, or more creative way with surprising results. Consider the original MPC's and the SP1200 from back in the day and how limited they were compared to what we are spoiled with today. And the fact that those old units have a solid place in hip hop history, while still triving today is all that needs to be said about that. So please express yourself and stand your ground for what you like and love concerning beat machines and standalones, but also realize that the greatness associated with this gear really comes from the community of talented beatmakers/producers who find their connection with that gear....feature laden or not.

MPC is great. I'd even say it's probably the #2 best studio centerpiece... and #1 is also by the same company. As far as I can tell, the list is something like this... 1. Akai Force 2. Akai MPC 3. Deluge 4. Maschine+ 5. ... everything else. There aren't many options for a DAW in a box. The choice of MPC vs Force mostly comes down to whether people prefer to build songs from pattern chains or clips and a timeline. In all fairness how long did it take Akai to come to this point. MPC’s have been around for years. It took Native Instruments to push Akai to this point. Akai was trying hard to keep up with Maschine software that they should have been working on their standalone. They always been standalone. And let’s not even talk price. When the MPC3000 first came out we couldn’t just couldn’t get it. Now I own both plus the Akai Force. They truly are awesome boxes. But then there is the (Standalone) other side. You have the FL faithfuls that can get a laptop and be (standalone) with life time updates. Oh and don’t sleep on Serato Studio. At the end of the day what ever makes you produce what you like is what matters. Let’s not even get into iPad production that’s another conversation.
@THEKINGOCAESAR3 жыл бұрын
All great points. I started from the daw so what your saying is completely right but when it comes to standalone I don’t think there is anything better than the mpc live 2 on the market right now. Hear me out. In order to run a daw and used multiple plugins with out an interface your going to need a solid computer for cpu and memory uses the interface helps with that but with out it unless your computer is semi powerful you are going to run into problems because vst in the game now look so great sound beautiful but take up made cpu lol. Now the next thing is ok getting your own sample and chopping them up of going through something like splice. I don’t know anything that can chop samples as good as mpc serato studios is great but I know first hand about chopping in fl, Logic Pro, and protools, it’s not fun. Now this is what I want you to think about. How much is it going to cost me for a good computer with a lot of space for sample, a good interface and dope plugins, maybe just a splice account. Vs just an mpc live 2 1 tb ssd drive and a splice account even tho you don’t need one. The computer probably going to be more with the plugins but even if it isn’t we haven’t even talked about the ability to interface with external gear. Synths turntables etc. mpcs are so capable to do any type of production on the go where the computer is limited unless your paying for thing that allow it to be more versatile. I know this was long but I hope I make sense it is early lol.
@jerzboybeats3 жыл бұрын
@@THEKINGOCAESAR oh I agree with you. I’m just confused with Akai. You put the Hype Synth on the Force years before you put it on the MPC which is their flagship. The Force with a controller was more advance than the MPC until this most recent update. Which leaves me with this question. On the Forces next update which is still in Beta, how more advance will it be over the MPC this time. The Arranger mode already has linear recording. The Force inputs are similar to the X being able to have phantom power. Now as fas chopping Serato Sample gives you more slices than Serato Studio. There time stretching algorithms are way superior. The fact that you can pitch individual chops is sick. I can play chords with my chops, especially vocals. Before the computer days I used the MPC to sequence my midi racks and keys. I love my live2. If akai would update their software that would be great. I still believe it took Maschine to wake up Akai. Truth be told the Ren should have been the first Standalone but it took years for the MPCX to Grace us. As far as the computer you won’t be one tied to one thing. You can not only edit music but also videos as well as graphic designs. I have a 10.5 iPad Pro with BeatMaker3, and the sample chopping on it is phenomenal, Koala Sampler is another. For a while my iPad was my production tool and at times it still is. I love creating. Production is like cooking. It’s what works to get the job done for the individual. Like you said it’s all about opinions. I hated that I sold my MV8800. It was way before it’s time . Man I enjoyed this. I love the fact this is making music production companies step up and not sell us any old thing just for sales. 💪🏾👍🏾

@@jerzboybeats hey the last point you made is the most important point. All this competition Is making it better for us the consumer. I really believe that 2.10 for the mpc would not have been as good if it wasn’t for the maschine plus. But I’m will you like a lot of other mpc users. We should have gotten the stuff the force has first and I know a lot of user who are pissed off about that. @@THEKINGOCAESAR man I got the force before the Live 2 all because the hype synth. I had to get the retro though. Something about MPC look. I hear there’s another update as well for the Live about see what that’s about.

Word up 2.10 was dope. I fill like we wouldn’t have gotten that if it wasn’t for maschine plus tho they put some heat under akai. That’s good for us lol

Mashine sounds cheap to me for some reason. All the drums have this corny snap to them

I prefer the drums of Mpc because theyre solid. Buf for the synth and melody I like the maschine.

You’re not presenting fact you’re presenting what’s best for you my G!!! They all do the SAME SHIT!!
@THEKINGOCAESAR3 жыл бұрын
They do the same shit but the mpc does it better there is a lot of people who I personally talk to on KZbin who love mpcs but hate akai the company and tried it out and stayed with the mpc. I know this video is going to trigger some people but really bro it comes down to you if you are a speed demon on the maschine then it is better for you. I’m not saying the maschine is trash. Actually I thing it’s a close second and I’m glad they made it because it put more pressure on akai to be innovative. This last update we got was dope as fuck and I know it’s because the maschine plus. It’s good for the consumers. But all the things I said in this video was facts and are things that the maschine plus can not do.
@marclemar3 жыл бұрын
@@THEKINGOCAESAR but who said it’s better? Opinions can never be fact that’s why they’re opinions. They both have advantages and disadvantages. What you may view as an advantage I may view as a disadvantage (such as the touchscreen) I like knobs (pause)! I literally sold my Maschine to go back to Akai and ended up selling the Force right back to the owner because he reached out asking if I would sell it back to him because he didn’t like the Whatever he bought as much as the Force. At that point I had sold my push 2 and Maschine MK3 and was happy to sell him his Force back because the workflow wasn’t for me. When it comes to workflow there is no better. When you listen to a song NOBODY is saying that beat is sick because it was made on a MPC live.. I’ve got 20+ yrs making beats and I started on a 2000xl and like I said All this shit is the same at this point it really comes down to whether or not it checks “your boxes” ain’t no better. Only thing that can be better is the music you make on what you’re best at. I say all that and I still want to try the Live II but not because it’s “better” I want the progressions & key detection in samples but idk if it’s worthwhile using if I don’t like the workflow.. (Where Maschine shines for me) But hey I respect the need for content my G!

@@marclemar it really is personal opinion. I respect your point of view. Like I said tho the maschine plus would have been a home run to me if it was priced the same as the mpc one. I still think it’s dope.
