Maschine 1 was already a drag and I thought they would've worked hard to improve exporting midi to your DAW, but now in Maschine 2 it seems like a major step backwards. Hey you directed me to this video. There's no midi batch setup, sounds to midi notes section is there? How do i record midi directly into Cubase/Ableton, just hittin my pads and recording it in the old school way?
@maschinetutorials11 жыл бұрын
Exactly, it's gone, it's no longer an option. If you want to do it the old way, you would setup your group like this, then route the midi between midi track and Maschine, but what I'm saying is, it will cause a MIDI feedback loop, basically it no longer works the way you are used to working due to the changes they made in MIDI. The cleanest way is using Maschine in controller mode to trigger the sounds from a midi track pointed to the Maschine plugin.

There is an option in Reaktor if you open it up, by the browser section under connections, there is a midi channel in there that you can set. You also have to still set midi input for the pad in Maschine that Reaktor is on.

Thanks! But what if you want to do everything in Ableton? Use the External Intruments in Ableton and set the outputs in Maschine to External 1, 2, etc..? And is it possible if you hit the pads on Maschine that it will be recorded in Midi notes within Ableton?
@maschinetutorials11 жыл бұрын
You can do that by putting it in controller mode and triggering it from the pads, you can do it in realtime but it's messy now with the changes and causes midi feedback so it's quickest to use Maschine in controller mode and trigger the plugin via MIDI.

Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Maybe you can help me. In my maschine 2.0.6 sound>input>midi don't have the midi "active"... just a midi source right now setup with "none"... Another problem. OFF TOPIC: I've been trying to install the 2.1.2 Maschine Update but I can't. The message: "No previous installation found. Please run the full product installer before running this update installer." Yes i know about the "changing folder issue" but I can't understand. All my folders and names are in the same place. The midi active only shows on group input not the sound input. As for the "no previous version found" the only issue I would think of would be the changing folder issue you mentioned. You can look in service center to see where it thinks your Maschine install is located.

@@phantazzor You would need to set the kick to have it's own MIDI channel OR, drag the whole group out twice to two channels, then delete everything but the kick on one of those channels. You've got only the Flute in second group. So i can't have more then one sound in second group? My first group set up for channel 1 in Maschine as you explained here, and it works just fine. But i can't find settings in Fruity Loops to change to Channel 2 for the second group. Looks like its all different here. So even i put "Group Input Midi = Active. channel 2/C3.", when i export it to FL Studio there is no sound. Can you help me please? I got crazy here .... hahaha Thanks !
@maschinetutorials10 жыл бұрын
You can have 16 sounds in each group, the plugin can respond to 16 different midi channels. If you want to trigger a single sound (like an instrument) you will want to activate midi input for the pad instead of the whole group.
@tuvasi10 жыл бұрын

Maschine 2 is very complex with this Midi stuff. It makes me sick.....Coz of manual set up of each note...and every time, with new project its same...loose my time
@maschinetutorials10 жыл бұрын
Aleksandria Migova Just make sure you're dragging the MIDI icon. Midi does not make any sound on it's own you have to route it to the plugin if you want it to triggeer. Do not put the pad on a specific note unless you're using a kit, if it's an instrument that needs to be triggered along the keyboard range just turn on midi for that pad on the channel you want it to receive on. You may want to watch this newer version Maschine 2.1 MIDI batch update drag and drop MIDI into Ableton Live 9
@tuvasi10 жыл бұрын
oke. he says, choose Channel 1 in Abelton, cozz our group at Channel 1. But in FL studio you can't do this. I'm just saying that it works fine with First group. But the rest, when i drug midi icon to Daw, these instruments dont sound anything. Mute.
@maschinetutorials10 жыл бұрын
Aleksandria Migova A group and a sound need to be treated differently, you do not set it up the same. If you are trying to trigger a flute like you mentioned, then you don't turn on midi for the group, you turn on midi for the sound from the sound tab not the group tab. And you can choose multiple channels in FL using a MIDI out channel in FL.
@shotbynikolai11 жыл бұрын
Why dont you just drag the midi batch like you did in the beginning of this video, group the ableton channels and then route them back into maschine? doesnt that work? In this case you'd even had the control of muting every channel via ableton. Iam not in front of my maschine atm so i cant test it, but would it work?
@maschinetutorials11 жыл бұрын
You could create group channels in Ableton if you want, but that will have no impact on how you setup the midi drag and drap. As far as the midi batch setting, they removed it in 2.0 so you have to setup the midi notes individually before you drag now. Hopefully they bring back the midi batch setting so we don't have to do all this before dragging.

The only thing you could try is setting up a group like this and saving that as your default plugin template, but, anytime you load a whole group it would be reset, so you would have to load individual sounds. Basically, not really a way to save this setup currently unfortunately, they need to streamline this process quite a bit in my opinion.

Just depends on how you like to work, some work with all drums in one group/channel. Plus this is mainly dealing with the MIDI anyway, you can still route each drum to it's own audio channel if you prefer.

If you're just dragging out audio it can drag the whole group quickly, and they updated the midi settings to make it a bit quicker after this vid was made so you shouldn't need all of these steps. If you right click on the group and set it to "sounds to midi notes" each will have it's own midi note. Then it should work without the need to go in and transpose each sound.

Wish they had a easier way, just to simply drag a midi clip into ableton... having to transpose everything is a huge time waste - its easier just sequence inside ableton, routing midi to maschine, but that takes away from the experience of building the track inside the maschine if that makes any sense.

@basedvato Yeah, you can just do sounds to MIDI notes again in the newer versions, they brought it back after many of us complained kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5ylmYWuar-eq8U

I hate this new method. So annoying and i have to repeat this stuff everytime i change kit. They basically ditch people who work with maschine inside their daw.
@maschinetutorials11 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, I hope they change it

its just so whack to put drums to a midi piano roll. you have zero control over the specific hits after you've dragged all the midi info, thats dumb, u should show how to do this with drum racks instead
@maschinetutorials10 жыл бұрын
step fam This is about Maschine, not drum racks. And you still have control over your drum sounds in Maschine, as well as the MIDI notes in Ableton. Also, you can drag the MIDI for each drum sound to it's own channel if you want to split them up as well.
