I think the reason why certain “masculine” features are considered attractive on women is because those features are associated with general healthiness. Thick eyebrows = youth, muscle mass = strength and lack of disease, sharp jawline = lack of obesity and a nutritious diet, etc.
@Southforthewinter6 ай бұрын
Yeah these are all signs of good health/ good genes. Both sexes typically look attractive when they have both masculine and feminine features. Placed correctly. So strong jawline with pretty eyes. Works on both. I think there’s something we appreciate about the balance of masculine and feminine. After all we are a combination of both ( parents) regardless of how we came out. This was very interesting to watch especially because i (and a lot of people who said that to me randomly) consider myself attractive and i have almost all masculine attractive features. I have thick low set eyebrows, defined (low fat and masculine) jawline and small (ig) almond shaped eyes. (And my jaw appears dominant tp my cheekbones from lower angle, but my cheekbones are surely more feminine). It's especially interesting how everyone think my eyes are my most attractive feature. I'm just wondering does this mean i should dye my eyebrows brown, since they are blondish and grayish while my hair is brown.

Very interesting. I am an Androgynous looking guy and am the opposite of you. I have almost entirely feminine facial features. Full thick lips, high-set high-arched eyebrows, very long eye lashes, small curved female-like nose, my hair even looks very feminine. The only masculine trait on my face is my chin and jawline. Even though I am not usually attracted to masculine looking traits on a female I definitely find you very attractive looking just from seeing your profile pic. Androgyny on both Male and Female can impart interesting unique traits.

One time my sibling and I were looking at pictures of women and seeing if we agree on what we considered beautiful or average. (by the way I regret doing so cuz it doesn't feel right to compare looks). Surprisingly, the most beautiful girl I saw, one with a masculine face, was labeled as below average by my sibling cuz of how masculine she looked. Which shows beauty is subjective. I did all of this to prove to her that no matter how many people think someone is unattractive, there will be some that will find them beautiful.

Thick eyebrows do not look good on every woman and even if they are thicker, women feminize them by tapering the ends, groom them etc. Some ethnicities have finer hair and would look hilarious with (forced) thick brows. With a lighter coloration and finer hair brows appear thiner and softer by nature and is in harmony with the overall look and not a flaw. Beauty is not a trend and "classic" icons like Marilyn Monroe ore nineties supermodels are still admired for their beauty. Maybe they just found out what works for their faces, I cannot imagine Pamela Anderson with thick eyebrows for example. I never heard men say when they talk about a woman they find attractive "Yeah she has these thick masculine eyebrows and a strong jaw. amazing..." When a woman has a good bone structure it is still a feminine bone structure and a significator for health. When women in bodybuilding take steroids their faces become highly masculinized and they lose their beauty. Women are butchering their faces out of their body dysmorphia with things like buccal fat removal to get a "robust face" and this shows that masculine features in women are preferred?! This is more a sign to seek therapy to be honest and does not make any sense.
@exysness Жыл бұрын
Haha quite true. I think women are so scared to be feminine, because femininity implies natural vulnerability, that they would rather fill their jawline full of juviderm and chop off their breasts. The trans trend and the overmasculisation of beauty trends seem to have a lot in common. I like beautiful faces that are unique and not follow trends. Most celebs get the same procedures and look more and more uniform.

It varies based on ethnicity and your ethnic origin. Some ethnicities have stronger jaws, stronger jawlines, and some ethnicities have weaker jaws and weaker jaws. We should not apply Hollywood Beauty Standard to other cultures. Majority of other cultures are not the same and every culture is different. All cultures have different characteristics of finding them more attractive. Beauty is subjective. From what I notice from the opposite of Western Beauty Trends and beauty standards, it means that Eastern Beauty Standard in Southeast Asia and East Asia has more a emphasis on hyper feminine features such as weaker jawlines and v-shape angular chins means there would be more emphasis on sexual dimorphism on exaggerating the feminine preexisting features on a female to make it look more innocent, cute, and more girlish. That is majority of Asian women going through these types of changes, especially when it comes to fitting the ancient beauty standards in each East Asian and Southeast country..

And not just me but it's basically a necessity for top models. You see older people get a lip lift and that alone makes a massive improvement. And yet you focus on everything about the mouth area except that. Really odd given this channels objective.

Also, makeup heavily impacts a dimorphic face. Feminine makeup does NOT feminise a dimorphic face on a woman. It always looks like a man trying to use makeup which is why I always stay with a natural look (no foundational makeup) to a light tinted base and very neutral eyeshadows/blush/lipstick.

With eyebrows, aren't there competing interests? 1. Males generalaly have thicker eyebrows than women. (i.e. it's a sexually dimorphic trait.) 2. Women's eyebrows get thinner as they age. So couldn't it be that finding (somewhat) thicker eyebrows on women attractive is about selecting for youth IN SPITE OF the dimorphism?

I wish there was a version for feminine traits on guys. I’m trying to make a pretty boy but his face is messing with me. I’m just covering it with a mask most of the time lol

@@JaneDoe-ry7eo I forgot to clarify I’m an illustrator. Not pulling a Victor Frankenstein lol. I was drawing a feminine man.

@@carelessdreamer oh ok. I was just confused by your comment lol What do you mean by feminine men? Cause some may think soft features but then I see tiktok e-boys with chiseled jaws and broad shoulders be called feminine.

@@JaneDoe-ry7eo He has large eyes, full lips, smaller nose, and softer brow ridge. He also has a narrower waist and shoulders, and is in general very short and skinny. Most guys, even those that lean feminine, will usually have some masc features. They might be called feminine due to the way they dress? But idk enough about e-boys to say.

My jaw got jacked after I trained myself to be a nose breather. Mouth breathers have long, narrow jaws, pronounced under eye circles, and a bump on their nose. You can work out your masseters this way and improve your breathing x

thick eyebrows are not inherently masculine, its just women traditionally pluck them
