I have the Tomahawk Deluxe, which I use for guitar and harmonica. Works great for both! Would like to try out the Lightspeed though.
@mtbsteve16 жыл бұрын
That's a difficult decision because they would all work well for different tracks. Now as I use two Fender amps in stereo I wonder would the Tomahawk be the best choice or maybe the Lightspeed for the added tonal features it would provide? Maybe both in series!
@JasonGutierrez6 жыл бұрын
I’ve been a huge fan of the Lightspeed for several years now. It is on my board and always on. All of these pedals sound great and are really good at what they do. Bravo Greer Amps! Being a huge fan of the sound and feel of a Tweed Deluxe, I think the Tomahawk really captures that essence and would be my first choice. I’d be very interested to see how it stacks with the Lightspeed! I’m sure it rocks!

I like the Tomahawk best, but I can see how each could be used for some great tones, too. Nice array of dirt.

The Lightspeed and the Tomahawk both seem good for general use. Curious how they sound with single coils.

Great review of all of these Greer pedals. I own the Lightspeed and the Southland. I am thinking about getting the Tomahawk but I think I have everything covered with the Lightspeed and Southland.

Having a tweed pedal is different flavor though, highly recommend. I have the F56 from Catalinbread and its a really cool alternative vibe of overdrive. Your two plus Tomahawk would be sweet! Those are my 3 favs from Greer.

Great straight ahead comparisons - thanks 🤙🏻 For me, I could really use either the Supa or the Tomahawk as I don’t have anything comparable on my board (although the Lightspeed and the Southland both sound terrific)

I wish Greer made a 2 in 1 with the south land and light speed

I'm not just saying this because its the one you're giving away but the Tomahawk Deluxe sounded really nice, I mean, who doesn't like the sound of a tweed amp, especially a Bassman! Love the versatility of the 9 and 18 volts options and your reaction at how the pedal FEELS to play has me sold good sir!

I'm liking the Lightspeed for my needs. Thanks for demo'ing these pedals. They all sound great to me!

The Tomahawk sounds killer. It reminds me of the sound Joe Walsh gets on Funk 49. I've been trying to get that tone for years. Especially in a pedal format. Looks like you guys are the ones making it happen. That's the one I would pick. ;)

I will have to go with the Tomahawk love that sound . It has the bite that caught my attention a long time ago coming out of those radio speakers

I would rate tomahawk first, light speed second, Southland then supa cobra. I thought of light speed as first but the tomahawk really hit my spot😍

Ok, first of all, I would like to congratulate you for the demo: really well-made and informative. My only suggestion would be to improve the lighting in that room, unless the 'candlelit in a medieval castle' effect was intentional :) My favorite pedal among the 4 is the Southland Harmonic Overdrive, I think it would be perfect for beefing up my single coil-equipped guitars. Oh, one last thing: I also really appreciated the tribute to the awesome Gearmanndude (coily cable of love!) Nice touch, mate :) Good luck to everyone entering the giveaway!

I play in several bands, all with different styles; as well as a few cover bands. So versatility is key for what I do. I would have to say the Southland, or the Supa Cobra would be best for my situation. I would be curious to hear how the Supa Cobra sounds with the Gain knob set low.
@michaelbaro52306 жыл бұрын
While all sound great, the Supa Cobra's body control an clipping options seem great for matching with different amps and cabs. That's something I tend to run into where a pedal will sound great thru one set up but tough to dial in on another. Sweet vid!
@jackfeerick27676 жыл бұрын
My stuff tends to be pretty bluesy, and I like the way the Southland Harmonic Overdrive gives a little squeal to those bends.

Thanks for the opportunity to win the Tomahawk! The four pedals sound great...I liked the Lightspeed for its taste of grit to touch your tone...Nice pedal!
@bosshog19636 жыл бұрын
They ALL sound great, and would work for me in many situations, seeing that I have to cover many styles right now. But, having to pick only one, I'm gonna have to go with the Lightspeed at this time. Thanks for the very detailed and informative video!

I find that the LIGHTSPEED has the better placed low frequencies (or at least I prefer the low end response from it), but I like too the more rounded highs and fendery thing of the TOMAHAWK. Both are awesome, big and organic sounding pedals. Great demo!

Ok soooo after listening quite a few times, I’ve came to this conclusion. 1. Light speed2. Southland3. Tomahawk 4. Supa Cobra The reason I went this route is because I use overdrives just for a push/ or to tighten. I get most my drive from my heads. Been using my Bogner a lot lately and I’ve actually never played a Greer pedal ( been a faithful TS808 guy). Well anyways this video actually popped up in my email, so I checked it out. I’m gonna go through your other vids now. Thanks for the email .... PLAY LOUD!!!

I'm going with the Supa Cobra ! Find it a very versatile pedal fitting the overdrive necessities from blues to rock 'n' roll and I'd love to try it with a green ringer for some solo experiencies. In general, I liked them all, each one in a different way and for a different purpose. Great job.

I already own the Lightspeed and it's my favorite drive pedal. Also have the Ghetto Stomp, which I sometimes use as my 2nd stage drive after the Lightspeed. While I genuinely like all of the ones demonstrated, the Tomahawk is the one I've been wanting on my board. Just love that tweed sound and this pedal nails it

I am digging the SupaCobra for it's versatility. They all sounded great, but having the extra options opens up a lot of possibilities with tone chasing. Great pedals! Good job Greer Amps! :)

Would be great to hear them with a strat and volume rolled off a bit as I do :) They all sound great, but if I must choose one, the Tomahawk. I play mostly strats through an AC30 in my rock/bluesband.
@lukesaliba18546 жыл бұрын
I've already got a lightspeed and it hasn't left my board. I love it! Great by itself and equally awesome stacked. Due to it's versatility I have to say I like the lightspeed the best but the tomahawk is a close second as I dig it's warm tone and for this reason it is at the top of my wish list of pedals to buy. If anyone is reading this check out the Black Tiger delay pedal. I recently picked one of these up and it's a super fun pedal. Sweet slap back to ambient feedback. Thanks Greer, love your work! x

I'd say Lightspeed, Tomahawk would be the ones that'd work best. I love the Southland and Cobra, but I'm mostly a rhythm and trashy player. Great job on the video- thanks for comparing.

@michaelford3436 жыл бұрын
Man, I just wish I could own every pedal that Nick has made. As far as the four you demoed, I’d have to go with the Supa Cobra. Been looking for a heavy overdrive to go alone with playing in open G and down a whole step. HEAVY. That things seems like it will do the trick. All about the power of love through music and Greer encompasses that very well! ❤️
@raffa72826 жыл бұрын
For me It's certainly the Supa Cobra who work the most! A sort of sensible overdrive,you can choose your clipping, work on the texture. Cool giveaway!

@sethduin74356 жыл бұрын
OH MAN OH BOY! I've honestly only had the chance to play the Lightspeed and the Southland. Gotta say, since having the Lightspeed, it hasn't left my board yet. I really love how versatile the drive is, I can get anything from really classic sounding overdrives paired with the right amp, to the most subtle crunch. The pedal says, "Organic," and it MEANS it. It's perfectly sensitive. And when I really feel like beefin' up, I love to pair it with a Chase Bliss Brothers, or a Walrus 385. Lately I've been really having fun pairing it with a ZVEX Box of Rock as well. In Canada I haven't been able to find the Supa Cobra yet, but seriously stoked to try that out, along with the Tomahawk!
@RichardBustilloMusic6 жыл бұрын
#1: The Lightspeed is a pedal I’ve been gassing for a while, hoping to play it soon and acquire it to get an “edge of breakup” gritty overdriven sound. #2 I would say the Tomahawk to get me into the dirty muddy and flab tones I’d like to use for my blues. 🙏🏼 I just love the Tweed Bassman sounds that pedal produces. 🤤 #3 I love the versatility of the Supa Cobra. There’s so much volume and gain on tap, I can’t wait to get my hands on that beast. #4 Southland is a great sounding pedal, but I have about 3 pedals that sound similar so it wouldn’t fit my tonal needs. Over all, awesome job Nick Greer for making a great line of pedals to get the sounds that are in our heads. 🤘🏼

@happihockey86016 жыл бұрын
I run a P90 equipped Reverend into a Vox AC30, the Lightspeed is really close to my regular sound, guitar into amp. So that Tomahawk would be nice way to change that up. Supra Cobra is cool but too over the top for my tone.
@duzaobluesbr6 жыл бұрын
Wow! Super tough decision here! Gotta say that I’ve enjoyed all 4 pedals and I would really like to test some more different adjustments with my gear… If I were to play some rock, Supa Cobra sounded pretty versatile and fat. Southland is great, but too many harmonics ringing there for my taste… sounds like I’m back in the 80’s. I’ve been playing Blues for the past 30 years, so Lightspeed sounded like it would bring the tone from my hands more clearly. However, I have to say that the tone of Tomahawk really made my mind. Sweet, fat, clear but not that much… I would use a little bit less drive than Ryan did, having it smoother. Maybe a good idea would be to stack Lightspeed and the Tomahawk, having two smooth drives and a hot tone when combining them… Good idea for a next video, maybe? Well, you guys really made me confused here! Really liked all of them! Great job!

I'd have to say, for my particular style, which is NOT always distorted, I'd prefer either the Lightspeed or the Tomahawk. Great sounds on both... on ALL the pedals shown. My only comments would be, firstly, THANK YOU for not playing 10 minutes on each setting or pedal, as some do (it's more about their playing than WHAT they're playing!). Second, I was disappointed the only adjustments shown were to the gain levels, maybe the most obvious of the controls. I was looking for more demonstration of the less obvious TONE variables, as well, especially on the Supa Cobra. One might assume the "Treble" is just that, but what's the frequency range and effect on the sound?, and the "Body" control... perhaps midrange levels/frequencies? No mention of those or like controls on any of the pedals. We know the basic character of each unit, but not the range of its colors or variables. It was hard to discern more subtle differences between the units. Would've been a good, maybe even important, inclusion for ALL of them. Thanks!

For my existing pedalboard and musical style, the Super Cobra would be the sweetest addition. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

I like all 4 of the pedals but I would have to say that the Greer Southland Harmonic Overdrive would give me the best over-driven or pushed tones that I am looking for with my Marshall JTM45 voiced 1x12 combo amp that I am playing currently! :-) I would be elated to be the new owner of any of these 4 Greer pedals and the Gray Tomahawk Deluxe Drive would be great for higher gain tones for sure! The little Samson is what i definitely would go for, but since that isn’t on the list here. The light speed would be the go to. Need something to just stack with some heavier stuff and add some dynamics without too much gain. The tomahawk is a great pedal and it’s great for the classic rock or blues kind of sound. At a lower gain setting I bet it can fatten up almost anything though. Nice video though! Keep it fun!!

The 'transparency' of the Lightspeed would complement my current rig's needs, but I'd also love to explore more settings changes on the Supa Cobra and see what all it can do. The same for the Tomahawk, I'd really like to hear some less trebly and richer tones with the Tomahawk. Overall, most interested in the Lightspeed. Thank you.

The Lightspeed is probably my fave, but The Tomahawk is a close second. I do have a few tunes where I would light the option to go with the over-clipped-FET/squish of the Supa Cobra. I've often wondered why someone would need so many OD pedals on their board... (I'm old school and still run an original TS9, mainly for lead boost...) Think you finally answered that question.
