Denver here. After biggie and pac passed and before DMX, Eminem, and Jay-Z, Mase was everywhere, all over the radios, MTV, Movie soundtracks, everywhere! Man when I heard The Oracle I just sat in stunned silence at how hard he could go. 🔥

Ma$e is misguided: His first album [Harlem World] UNDER Diddy's instructions sold over 270,000 copies, went 4x Platinum and made $4million. His 2nd album more of Mase in control [Double Up] and with more street lyricxs sold only 107,000 copies, Gold and made only $500,000.00. Who direction do you all think was better. History tells us, Ma$e retired and came back 5 years later and under Diddy's influence it did the same numbers and was awarded the same achievements as Double Up. 5 years later! when Ma$e was no longer relevant, Diddy still made sure his album was a success. As a side note, the night Biggie was killed, Ma$e told Puff and Gene Deal that there were rumblings of a hit on Big and that they should skip the Vibe party. Puff and everybody else totally shut him down and told him no one was forcing him to go, so Ma$e didn't go to the party. Too bad they didn't listen to him

I always thought that publishing bar on Jay’s “Ride or die” was towards Nas. Because of the whole Dead Presidents Nas sample which got MC Serch Serchlite publishing paid instead of Nas
@cloutcancun2 жыл бұрын
The reason why people say Ride Or Die was about Mase is because of lines like "check your own videos, you'll always be number two" which is probably referring to Diddy always being in the videos and in the video for the song Can't Nobody Hold Me Down Diddy is wearing a jersey with a number 1 on it while Mase is wearing number 2. Jay-Z also said the line "Ni**as talking real greasy on them R&B records" which is pretty self-explanatory of what that means in terms of being about Mase.
@VickStarkiller2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking that Hov was talking about Mase and Nas. He was throwing shots at Nas ever since he no showed the Reasonable Doubt sessions and him and Mase were beefing over some girl and Mase was also really full of himself back in 97 and 98, so I’d imagine he was being really extra and many rappers hated that.
