People have a lot of revisionist history when it comes to Mase. Or are too young to remember. People act like Jay was a platinum artist from the jump. Reasonable Doubt is a classic. But it actually took 8 years to become a platinum album. Hov didn’t reach the next level until Hard Knock Life in 98. 97 was Mase’s year. 96 was obviously still Big and Pac. This was an excellent video and he really summarized it perfectly. As an 40 year old Hip Hop head who lived through that era this brought back many fond memories. I Will add this though, Jay always had his eye on the throne. When he released the single The City Is Mine in Feb 98 and he said “you held down long let me take those reins/and just like your spirit the commission remains” “I’m the vocal point like Biggie in his prime/but on the low though, the city is mine”. Hov caught major backlash because cats felt that Biggie (R.I.P) hadn’t been deceased long enough for someone to be talking like that. That’s why on Ether Nas said “first Biggie’s man but then you nerve to say that you’re better Big/dick sucking lips why don’t you let the late great veteran live”. Cats always felt someway about Jay making it no secret that he wanted the King Of Ny title so shortly after Big passed.

Good video, subscribed, pretty cool you got a response from Bobby Dash and I respect you tried to call Dame even if the calls didn't go through. You right, one day it will go through and you're gonna go viral.

this is refreshing and although i don't know much about Mase, i know one thing about Puff and Jigga both men always fight hard against the competition they did not they endorsed and the dudes they diss are either crazy or retired Kanye is another example I read about Puff BTS the music video of the song - "Hate me now" Dude was pretty violent

I was hoping u bring up “My Mind Right Remix” where Hov take shots at a member from Harlem World.. technically it’s not directly at Mase but it’s a coo layer to the beef😭 ifw the vid regardless

I think it was aimed at either Blinky Blink….Cardan….Huddy Combs or Meeno

Yes, this was incredible. This takes me back to the 90s and all of this and that was going on, in front of people and behind the scenes. Now I'm not sure if you touched on this one or not, but do you remember when the Wu had beef with the Puffster?

I'm disappointed that Jay doesn't like his Sunshine record. Back in my early teens (it was the 90s in a small city in WV called Clarksburg), a former radio DJ used to hold dances twice a month at the local YMCA for 6th to 12th graders. Anyway, whenever the DJ played Sunshine by Jay-Z featuring Foxy Brown,, (and his feature on Foxy Brown's song I'll Be) everybody went crazy on the dance floor over that song, like it was the greatest song we ever heard. Every single on Ma$e's Harlem World got love at our dances too. But still, Sunshine was the jam.

I’m with you. I’ve always loved “Sunshine,” that song used to get the club hype. 😆 The video was a little nervous 🤣🤣 but that Hype Williams experimenting so you gotta at least respect it.
