Masengeli: We reject coercion, intimidation of Police

The convicted Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli now says he will not be coerced or intimidated in the operational and functional independence of the police, adding that the current uproar over the withdrawal of the security officers attached to Justice Lawrence Mugambi is an ill-intended cause of alarm.
In a fresh attack aimed at the judicial service commission, Masengeli said no person would direct the IG to assign officers to different stations. And as Emmanuel Too now reports, pressure continues to mount on Masengeli to honour the court sentence and to stop an assault on the rule of law.
