a little overview on the cam caps that were switched on a 2008 maserati quattroporte. the cam cap job was attempted already which required some extra machining to make it right. only place to take them to would be TEM Performance in Napa, California.

Thanks for doing these videos. I just got an 08 QP. Got this start up knocking. You give me the confidence to tackle this job. I will be sending to TEM. Beautiful cars, so looking forward to doing this. Hopefully this is the fix. Cheers from Canada.

As a temp fix, you can fit a Mocal accumulator that pre-lubes the engine before you start. Works well, certainly buys you time. Fitted one to my 4.2 GT and a year later still good.

Thank you for the video. You make it sound easy. I'm located in Canada and thinking about doing it myself and sending it to TEM performance. One question, someone here told me you need to do programming after. Is that true ?

@farzadshirzad1716 thanks! No programming needed, there's nothing involved here that has anything to do with tuning.

@@syntheticperformanceunlimi8323 So, I went through the processes and found out that the cam caps were already modified through TEM performance. I have also check the solenoid valves, and both seem to be working. any other thoughts ? (The rattle only happened 8/10 times on cold start)

Thank you for sharing this video. Do you know what exactly was done to the caps? Is it just boring out and pressing a check valve? I'm based in Japan so it would be great if I can find out the mod procedures and have my shop do it... Thank you in advance!

Yes, sir, we had to bore them out again. And then put the check valves in and put a notch at the top so they do not slide out under heat

hi - were you able to gather more information how the mod procedure is exactly done - in some forum i read that you would need to bore out some oil gallery aswell because the wall of the check valve would block it ???
