What do you order at Ruth's Chris?

Anyone who spends this much for a piece of meat is a fool...PT Barnum was right. This is all about being seen and having people know you were there. Period.

Only ate there once…the service was impeccable! The spinach salad and desert…crème brûlée were my favorites. The rest of the meal was ok. It was nice to experience first class service.

I've eaten at Ruth's Chris many, many times. I worked in mattress sales at a national chain for 7 years and we used Ruth's Chris to do almost every company function that involved food and drink. The funny thing is, although I can definitely afford to go, I've never actually paid for a meal at Ruth's Chris. I'd honestly rather go an Outback or Texas Roadhouse for a steak instead of Ruth's Chris. Even though I know every steak served by Ruth's Chris is Prime cut and the steaks served by other steak houses are probably Choice (at best), I feel like there's such better value for the money spent at the other national chains. If I'm ever wanting a truly special experience (and willing to spend the money for it), I've always been able to find a locally owned restaurant to provide a far better experience for the same money I'd spend at Ruth's Chris. In other words, I just don't think they're worth the money they're charging. The moral of the story: If you want the meal to really stand out in your memory, find a place that's owned by one of the people working there.

I first ate at Ruth Chris at least 20 years ago. It was a birthday gift dinner for me.There was a maitre d, and several waiters , to serve the two of us. He would summon them, to our table to take care of our requests. Not for a moment were we kept waiting for anything. I caught a glimpse at the bill, which was a bit over $100.000 that's not counting the generous tip, the person I was with left. Flash forward to a couple of years prior to the pandemic, being near a Ruth Chris, unexpectedly, I took myself there for lunch. The service was horrible, even though the dining room had no one in there when I arrived, and only filled up shortly after my arrival with just one or two people, who were promptly waited on. I finally went to the host who seated me, to voice my complaint and get a waiter. Now, that I hear, how this restaurant is run differently, I see why things were so different now. I did enjoy my steak, but noted the quality was not the same as before, or maybe it was the way, it was cooked. This is not to say, it wasn't delicious. It was lunch, so the prices were appropriate for the type of establishment, I was in. The fact, when I don't remember prices exactly, means they were appropriate for a place like Ruth Chris , located in a higher priced section, in a major city. I don't really have the desire to eat at Ruth Chris's again in this lifetime. Nothing, I feel can match up to my first ever dining experience there for my birthday.

I had to do a double take when I saw what you listed as how much the bill was. I'm sure you meant $100.00 not $100,000.

For their incredible reputation, I've eaten there twice--for the price, it was good but far from great. Here in Charlotte there's a non-chain place called Beef & Bottle...it's old school rustic, the steaks are better, and the prices are lower. I wouldn't bother with Ruth's Chris ever again.

It's the typical chain that appeals to people that think they are being fancy or treating themselves so way overpay for the level of quality for what you pay. If you're going high end steak, much better options in any major city in most cases.

Rather average for supposedly high end steak house. And the franchise thing is exactly the problem. Quality varies wildly and can't compete with truly great steakhouses. People go there because it's a brand they know.

I'm glad I have never been rich enough to be able to afford such conspicuous consumption. I've heard of Ruth's Chris, but never been there. Engineers rarely make that kind of money and usually are too smart to overspend on products just for the attention.
