Wow- the words and imagery of this song are powerful! I remember feeling like I was drowning under the weight of my depression in 2018. I felt alone in my thoughts that screamed I wasn't worth living. The voice of the enemy compelled me to believe I had nothing to offer anyone. I loved the Lord with all of my heart, but I thought he made a mistake by creating me. I saw myself as unlovable, unskilled, ugly, too sinful, stupid, unwanted. Everything I envisioned myself to be in my dreams wasn't lining up with reality. So I wanted to throw in the towel. I remember telling God I was tired of trying and wanted Him to take my life the night of my birthday (Dec. 8th) in 2018. I begged Him to take my cup of depression and hopelessness away from me. I wanted to end the inner war I battled daily in my mind and emotions. But as this song states, God saw something different. He knew the ways in which my story could be a blessing to others. He allowed me to go through my dark night of the soul to build up my resilience, perseverance, character, and hope. So I'm here. Learning how to live and believe the truth of His word over my thoughts and feelings. Learning how to see myself the way He sees me. It's still an everyday journey but I can honestly say, God has renewed my mind since 2018! It's truly a miracle. Anyways, that's a bit of my story. Thank you Erica for you transparency in your songs. I know it's blessings many and bringing people to the knowledge of God's unconditional love for us. Blessings my sister ❤

I fell into depression in 2017, i felt suicidal but then i channeled the energy into writing poetry thinking i would heal so quickly, i hide my pain behind every words and recite to people but i wondered why those i spoke to get healed in their soul but i don't, it became worse when covid struck and held me home away from my distraction like hanging out with friend and going to amazing places, i tried to get help online by booking appointment with an online therapist all to no avail, the therapist insisted i write more poetry on how good i am so i had to stop chatting him up but still i hide behind every lines i speak pretending to be fine but i am sincerely yelling for help.

wow thank you so much for sharing this. I know that feeling all too well. I actually used to do that with music too. I used to hide behind the songs. Instead of truly digging deep, assessing myself, and Going to God about my issues, I just tried to do more music. Here's what happened to me: I used music as a coping mechanism. And when music wasn't enough, I went into a deeper downward spiral. When music wasn't taking me places anymore, when I wasn't able to do shows anymore, when I wasn't making money anymore, music began to disappoint me. The problem was, I placed my trust and confidence in music instead of God. I looked for music to heal me instead of God. I ran to music before running to God. Now I'm in a place where I'm learning that music is a gift that God has given me to CONNECT WITH HIM. I used to write music to connect with the world. I wanted validation from music. Now I understand that it's the vehicle God has given me to connect with him deeper. When I don't have the words to speak, God allows me to express myself to him through music. It's still a process though. So what I would encourage you to do, is assess "why" you hide behind your poetry. What escape does it provide for you. If you are putting all your hope in your skills, then you must know that it will only be temporary. That's why I had to learn to put my hope in him. Hope that helps. I'm sure others will be able to add to this.

I encourage you to have a relationship with God, studying His Word ; that's what helped me through depression. Like @Erica Mason said put your Hope in Jesus. As for your poetry it is a gift God gave you to encourage others . Now you use that very same poetry to draw Strength from God. You Will overcome in the Mighty Name Of Jesus ,God loves you okay 😊.

I have struggled and still have struggles with depression. I believe it started with not having confidence in myself. At age 12 I attempted suicide and at age 15 I tried it again. I felt hopeless, worthless, and broken. Everything fell apart in my life at a young age and I was confused on why would God create me? I didn't know my purpose but now I know that all of these things happened for a purpose. During my time of attempted suicide I heard God's voice for the first time. He simply said "stop, I love you, you have a purpose". I thought I was going crazy but I knew it was God keeping me here. Throughout the years I've began to find my purpose in writing music and poetry. I believe it's my voice being heard and my testimony for me to overcome. Some days the darkness tries to overtake me BUT GOD shines his light and comforts me. Thank you Erica Mason for this AMAZING song that I definitely can relate to. Let God keep using you to be a light in the darkest moments. 💖

I been through so much it’s hard to narrow it down but the most life altering thing was holding my daughter when she overdosed and I almost lost her… she is a beautiful young lady that has to beautiful sons now and I am so blessed too still have her here… my whole life story though smh sad story after another but God alone keeps me strong and the love for my kids and now grandkids life is super hard and I know tired like I have never have before I work almost 200 hrs every two weeks and still can’t help them all… all I have to give I would just to know they are happy to live

I had my share of depression when I used to struggle with Lust in my life . It ( depression ) got out of control one day while I was at church during Worship .. I heard the enemies voice wisper "Take A knife and Kill Yourself " !!! 😥😥😥 So I ran outside crying and screaming until two sisters in Christ came and Encouragement me .And next thing you know Deliverance took place I really thank God for helping me through this... wasn't easy but today I can say am free from these chains in Jesus mighty name Amen 🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏 !!!!
