There wasn't too much that went on down the Cape during the cold winter of 2018, but I still ventured out to see the shortline at various locations. In mid-February, we see GP9RM 2008 trudging down the Falmouth Line with empty C&D and trash cars for Otis. A few days later, MC 2007 and 2010 is heading northbound out of Fall River to Taunton to wrap up a days work. On a much sunnier day, GP7u 2006 is seen heading from Rochester to Yarmouth with empty trash cars to be loaded at the transfer station. Early March has our highlight, as 2008 and 2007 head down to the Cape with a ballast train to repair multiple washouts after a Nor'easter slammed New England. The two GP9s put on a show bringing the heavy train of MassDOT hoppers up to speed. The New York Central caboose made an appearance on the ballast train.
