When enemies kept yelling that Shepard won't go down and how they can't take him/her down. That is when I truly felt that my Shepard is actually a damn N7 and Spectre years of training on top of years of field experience bunch of security guards were no match for Shepard no matter their numbers, if he only wasn't dazed by Object Rho/Harbinger Shepard would have made out easily.

The fact that you have to do this mission without the squadmates only strengthens the mood of isolation and makes the fighting for survival at the object rho even more dire along with the general increased difficulty. Being under time pressure is also great addition. And the ending is just as good seeing fast approaching alpha relay in the distance as you try to break through enemy forces. This DLC is the peak of the series in my opinion.

Yeah I love this mission, Shepard just goin balls to the wall against impossible odds to stop the Reapers from invading (early) and living with the consequences (It actually makes Shepard being arrested at the beginning of ME3 make more sense). On the higher difficulties the Black Hole Launcher is your friend. I love the OST for it too feels like Shepard’s Last Stand.

Not that those soldiers stood a chance against Shepard or otherwise, but it Shepard in that fight encapsulates the power of free will. We learn from Saren in the first game, that the drawback to indoctrination is that agents lose their ability over time; probably not physical ability, but that je ne sais quoi that exceptional individuals have, that can not be replicated by a base machine intelligence that disappears with indoctrination. I'm sure the Reapers can not fathom why Shepard is surviving; there is no logic to it. But Shepard is fighting for the survival of the galaxy and everything is at stake; the Reapers can't understand the desperation and the drive to survive.

You know a lot of you keep saying this never understood that because Problem is it has to happen before suicide final from a story progression plot stand point because of the collectors releasing the reapers at the end after that mission arrival doesn’t work after the final because the reapers have already been released at that point gunning it for the Milky Way While in arrival there still in dark space locked up away from the Milky Way waiting for the relay premature short cut access.

After Sovereign failed to open the shortcut and was destroyed, they resorted to plan B and headed towards the Milky Way directly. In Arrival, the Reapers had finally reached the galaxy's edge and the invasion was imminent, but by destroying the Mass Relay closest to them, the war was be delayed for a few months, as the Reapers had to reach the next closest Relays to access the main Relay network. Mass Effect 3 began when they reached said Relays and could move freely throughout the Galaxy. The Collectors had no impact on the main plot. They were just a threat to deal with while the Reapers were still on the way, as well as motivation to go on exciting adventures and meet interesting people, without getting too distracted by the apocalyptic stakes that the Reapers themselves would bring about.

This DLC felt like a perfect end to Mass Effect 2 and the introduction to Mass Effect 3. And I say the soundtrack captures it perfectly by having a "Time is running out" feel to it. Alas, if only were granted such a climatic end to Mass Effect 3 the first time.

I believe that's how the canon SHOULD be. "The Arrival" after the Suicide Mission but before Shepard returning to the Alliance. Would create the perfect plot device to retcon Mass Effect 3 events selectively. The Object Rho battle could be the catalyst to make the "Indoctrination Theory" as canon. "But it's the end of Shepard's story, brah!" Sure, and they can still roll with that. Could be some M. Night Shymamalamalanamaan plot twist - Shepard meeting his end, being captured by Dr. Kenson and her Indoctro'd Posse. Mass Effect 3 could have just been their attempt to indoctrinate Shepard, but at the very least find out how the Organics would likely be fighting back according to the mind of Shepard. Mass Effect 4 could be the REAL invasion, and they could legitimately wrap up many plot holes us fans are all bitching/whining about.

That would definitely be one of the most shocking plot twists ever. Personally, I like the idea. But I'm not sure how would some fans react to the idea of their iconic hero giving in to the reapers in the end (although to me that would be the perfect tragic ending, three main figures (Shep, Saren and IM) who tried to save organic life all failed, but each contributed in a way so that others can use their knowledge). If done right, it could be a very interesting story.

Depending on your previous choices (they will use a website like they used for Dragon Age Inquisition import), Shepard will have saved the galaxy and retired or Shepard would have been subdued by the Reapers and had to be killed. The writers were tricking you with one very crucial aspect of the series which is this: Shepard is the best, therefore he/she is the ONLY. A more likely possibility is that they actually have Shepard succeed and use the destroy option as their canon, since according to the IT a Shepard who chooses anything other than Destroy has caused a Mission Failed. Leviathan notes you are a phenomenon, yet the human species could be destroyed "with a single thought." The next game almost assuredly won't be about Shepard but it will be about one who made the right decision.

I had never purchased arrival, so the scene in ME3 when Anderson explains why he was locked up and grounded never made sense. Once I played arrival and realized the scope of what had happened it made sense, and then Anderson explained it when shep argued "is that why they grounded me and took away my ship" I said in my room "yea, other wise you'd all be getting fucked in the ass by harbinger about now....oh wait...they're outside"

This DLC did have some flaws, but it did an awesome job at branching between ME2 and ME3. Without it, you lose a lot of the context and backstory between the two games. And even the graphics and musical style mirror ME3, giving you a taste of what's to come.

During the boom those years ago about ME3 ending, I was, like everyone else, searching on google about the ending. I don't know how, but I "landed" in a blog talking about aliens and there was a photograph of a strange object around earth, posted as a topic of that discussion. Of course it was some bull s***, I didn't even know how i ended in that blog. So i comented, (remember there still was a discussion about Commander Shepard s death), "if you really are up there please help us...Commander Shepard." I can't find that blog anymore, i wonder if they closed it.

In the past I've always played this after the suicide mission. This time, I jumped on it as soon as it popped up. My logic being "Wait, she might have found evidence of the reapers that could convince the council? I'm on it!" I actually liked it that way. A mission where you're hoping to simply rescue a friend and get some evidence for the reaper invasion turns into a fight for your life while racing against the clock. Then once you're back, it adds two more ticking clocks to your fight against the collectors. Now you're not only trying to stop then before more human colonies are taken, but also before you have to turn yourself in and before the reapers arrive in a few months. I'd still probably prefer to do it right before or a bit after the suicide mission, rather than shortly after Horizon, but it was still cool.

Haha, it felt so good to actually finish this part. I failed on my vanguard the first time through recently, but when I used the infiltrator I made I just utterly destroyed it. I'll have to go through on my vanguard one time again and finally complete it.

Sentinel is better. If they destroy your shields the shockwave will throw them on the floor and if youhave right upgrades half of shield will be replenished

TastyBrush while this is an old comment, on my.most recent insanity playthrough of arrival, I engineered that shit all the way through. my drone, dbl overloaf, and hacking the mech, along with geth shield made it not so much a breeze, but bearable. the enggy is still my all time favorite class.

The synths, the light guitar riffs and oh, so sparingly inclusion of orchestral elements make this a hell of a track. Truly fits Mass Effect. In ME3 they included TOO much of an orchestral music and some songs sound a bit generic and bland.

I still think it was bull that Shepard still had to do the whole thing alone. It would've made sense that the Normandy would be looking for Shepard after not having heard from him/her for *two* days...

Not bringing Kasumi and Thane on the stealth op made less sense... until you realise that they'd just get killed. Same thing with the Collectors attacking the Normandy.
