This was a great moment. But I really love when they reprized it in ME 3 when you meet David at Grissom Academy. "I've been counting." "Anything in particular?" "The number of days you've lengthened my life."

I loved that about Mass Effect in general. Everything could come full circle at you when you didn't expect it to. No game to rush but to listen, think and then act and still your choice could be dead wrong and you wouldn't know until it stabs you in the back hours later, sometimes so bad that you wanna go "PLEASE. MAKE IT STOP!" ;-)

Here’s some dialogue for the squad members I came up with: Jacob: How the hell can you sleep at night, knowing what you were planning to do? Miranda: I knew Cerberus was researching the Geth heavily, but this is….far beyond anything I had expected. Mordin: Too many people like you. Always justifying. Always rationalizing. Always hurting. Garrus: I can’t even imagine doing this to my sister. I would die before letting that happen, let alone be the one to do it to her. Zaeed: You messed with something you didn’t understand, and now your god damned brother has to pay for it. Grunt: Strapping your own kin to some torture machine for a science experiment? If you were a Krogan, I would rip you apart. Tali: Some Quarians say they would do anything to see their home-world, but if they could see this, I hope they would reconsider that statement. Thane: A painful life has taught me that family is one of the most important things a person could have, and you threw it away like it was nothing. Samara: I hunted my daughter for centuries, but even in my darkest moments, I would never condemn her to this. Jack: Good old Cerberus. Always willing to sacrifice others “for the greater good”. Take a good look, this is exactly what happens when you do something “for the greater good.” Kasumi: This experiment was horrendous enough already, but your own brother? Can you even look yourself in the mirror? Legion: You have forced your brother to uplink into a world he could not possibly hope to comprehend. Probability of permanent mental damage: 97.76%

My one criticism of this great mission is that your squad mates say nothing throughout it. I’d love to hear Mordin’s horror at the nature of the experiment. Tali’s struggle to condemn it while knowing its information is valuable. Most of all I’d love to hear Legion’s perspective. ‘Archer Doctor was not interested in understanding Geth Units only controlling them. The Rouge VI destroyed them but latched onto final command.’ ‘Final command.’ ‘Their archived data remains. ‘Protect David’. Consensus reached in .0002 seconds of standard time...these units died trying to save him.’

Mordin: ‘Whole experiment illogical! Human facility! Cerberus Organization profess ‘human advancement’! Hippcratic Oath HUMAN concept! Maximum benefit for minimum harm. I absolutely love this and would have paid for a whole fresh copy of the game again just to see their reactions and nothing else, this dlc hit me very hard when I first played and it's the first time in my memory where i physically was stunned and had to stop playing for a good five minutes just to process what I had just seen. The sheer terror and fear and desperation in david's eyes and his one and only desire which resonates with me greatly being autistic myself, he just wanted it to be quiet again, he wanted the loud bombardment of noise and information to stop and the one defense that we normally have in our regular lives of being able to simply shut the world out was made impossible as he was plugged into the machines, the information and noise would never ever stop.

David is an example, he is not being abused because of hate, but by love a love with pity from his own brother, who believe he is doing something greater for him, that his condition as autistic will not stop him from achieving his full potential.. he sees him as an asset, not as a human or person, something that happens even today

David, being heavily autistic with his almost machine-like mind, is seen as a burden by his brother.... then used for experiements that do so much damage to someone who doesn't understand it all. Then, when you free him and he goes to Grissom Academy, he is actually doing fine. I'd like to believe that after the Reaper War, if you pick the destroy ending, he helps rebuild the Citadel and improves so much. He will be seen as a hero. At the same time you bear witness to Shepard's compassion and you smile, knowing there is still some good left in the galaxy Thank you for uploading this piece :)

Finished this mission for the first time lastnight. Hit me right in the feels. I came so close to crying with my organic self, but I just had my Shepard go to the port observation area and drink himself silly. Then EDI came over the intercom to tell me the men's restroom is on the Port side of the ship. Damnit EDI, I am having a moment!

This theme makes me think, how the lines blur to what we use in the name of progress, be it our sanity, our co workers or even the people we love. How long, how long before its enough, how long will it be before they are able to look at themselves in the mirror, and once again see the face hiding behind the facade. How long will it be before the actions of whom we hurt come into our minds, will it remain as regret or boil down to justifiable sacrifice

@valerieverith23588 жыл бұрын
+Darknefarious No way. The most I did as a Renegade was 'not' use the Paragon interrupt option, but I still took David out of that Hell he was in and sent him to Grissom. Renegade Shepard is mean, but I don't think they are soul-less and there was no way, after seeing that, that I could justify myself and by extension my Shepard, to leave him in the hands of the people that had put him there.

The first time I started this mission and talked to that asshole doctor saying that he was using his own brother for experiments, I felt disgusted. I've seen horrors but when I first saw David strapped up like some sort of sick puppet, just because he spoke to geth, I really wanted to beat the shit out of that scientist. When I heard the music and seeing David Suffer, I just felt great sadness seeing him like that. Thanks for the upload. :)

This moment turned what felt like a boring DLC, just going from place to place completing objectives, into something I will never forgot. It just catches you off guard, thr horror of it all, what Cerberus is willing to do to advance humanity, and from what I have seen even the most, if not all, hard-core Renegade Players saved David. As it should be.

Seeing the lengths Gavin Archer went to shook me to my core. Knowing that he saw his brother as something LESS than human, naught more than a tool, If I needed ANY more reason to hate Cerberus, I found it then. They claim to fight for humanity, yet it is clear they relinquished theirs. I let that fuckwit Gavin shoot himself. I wanted, no, NEEDED him to pay for his actions. Seeing anyone treated like that for their differences cut deep. And Jennifer Hale's performance in that scene, even as a Paragon, delivered EXACTLY the amount of hate and disgust I would in that position.

I made a full renegade shepherd on a recent play through but despite this I just couldn't leave David with Cerberus, it was one of the rare paragon options I did.

The feels's theme of ME2 ! Back then, found the dlc fun gameplay wise (a lot of variety in 1 mission). The character/backstory was fine. Then the feels come in your face like a train. It shows how far cerberus can go "to save the many". That OST was perfect for the final scene.

As someone who's dealt with Autism for his entire life, this DLC got to me. When David was screaming for the noise to stop. Screaming to be let go. Screaming to just be somewhere else, somewhere quiet. I just saw too much of myself there.

I literally played this missiom for the first time just a week ago with the Legendary edition... I thought that Legions sacrifice was the most influential game moment I haf ever come across, but never played this gem for a DLC. I was so wrong, the storytelling and reveal of the conclusion is second to none. So glad I did a second play through, this mission alone was worth it.

just makes me think, David's innocence was destroyed, and in turn became part of the most horrific kind of torture.... Humanitarian deletion, the process that takes away everything within you and replaces it with a lifeless personality.. the only true fate worse than death. Save David every time, because while the world can take steps to be more secure, a single life cannot be left to that hell...

Found myself becoming increasingly deeply upset at Gavin Archer as this mission progressed. I have Asperger's, and my sister has autism. Needless to say, this dlc spoke to me, hit me hard right in the feels. Really powerful mission, and damned if it didn't feel good to pistol whip Gavin for the paragon option. I might've shot him, had it actually been me, it made me that angry seeing David being abused like that. Square root of 912.04 is 30.2... it all seemed so harmless...

The horror and disgust from Shepard is something that seems unique to this moment in particular. Shepard expects this level of cruelty from the Reapers, since they are literally machines designed to harvest humans, so that's why he/she doesn't have this kind of reaction when he sees it. But this shakes him/her, because it's not coming from a machine designed to kill, or some sort of space monster. This suffering was caused entirely by another person, who was readily willing to hurt his own family to satisfy his ambition. Shepard didn't expect that amount of willing cruelty from another person.

Still gets me every time I hear this one. :'( This game, and this DLC in particular, are the last works from Bioware that I consider masterfully done. Lair of the Shadow Broker was also par excellence.
