I ugly-cried when he died, dude. It was like losing a father. I was thinking that Shepard could've just died in peace next to him, holding hands as father and child.

If we're being real, that should've been the Paragon Ending of the game. You get up to the Citadel, have your final confrontation with the Illusive Man, and watch with Anderson as the Crucible docks and fires, taking out all the Reapers. No Starchild, no "Oh, the Geth and EDI will also die!", just a happy ending at a great cost, with a proper epilogue rather than just a sideshow, and, if you got super high war assets, a tease that Shepard survived. To properly satisfy the whole "your choices matter for the ending" thing (Which I don't think was an unreasonable expectation for fans to have, considering how much emphasis was put on it in the leadup to the game), they'd have had to make at least two whole other ending _missions_ for Renegade and neutral players, each with several permutations of their own. It'd be a Herculean task, but the bar was set high with ME2's Suicide Mission.

@@bamagalforever For a Renegade ending, I was thinking doubts could be cast on the Crucible's effectiveness at some point (Maybe it's revealed that the Protheans actually finished it in their cycle, but had trouble getting it to fire), and you get a speech check where, if you have enough Paragon points, you can convince everyone to try it anyway, while if you have enough Renegade points, you can propose an alternate, much more ruthless strategy; Lure all the Reapers to Earth with the Crucible as bait, and then destroy the Sol Relay to wipe everything out, like Arrival on a much larger scale. To make the trap convincing, you'd have to commit all your forces anyway, and in the fighting, Shepard would be seriously injured, and from there, your choices are taken into account, with each being assigned a positive or negative point value, and if you get above a certain score threshold, you can choose to leave before the Relay goes boom, but if you don't, you can't go on, and convince the Normandy to leave without you. I'm thinking stuff like being a Spacer and having your LI alive/on the Squad would provide a lot of points, but Earthborn and your LI being dead would take a lot away. As for neutral, I'm not sure. Maybe, if you don't have enough Paragon _or_ Renegade during that speech check, everyone still agrees to go along with the Crucible reluctantly, but your lack of conviction either way represents that you don't have the willpower to resist the Reapers, and an Indoctrination Theory-style ending plays out. You're persuaded to align with the Illusive Man as it becomes harder to distinguish between dream and reality, and depending on your exact choices, you can either get shot by one of your Squadmates, break their control long enough to do it yourself, Saren-style, or "successfully take control of the Reapers", with that ending having sinister overtones heavily implying everything is not what it seems.

@@GergelyGyurics This is extedned. The whole talk about her (or him) being a great parent wasn't included. It's just her(him) saying 'we did it' and how long it's been since they sat down. And then Anderson dies.

I mean, I get it. It does feel somewhat out of place, talking about family kids and such when Anderson and Shep are supposed to be bleeding out currently. Still love the extended dialogue.. each time I play through the game I watch this vid, cuz it does feel even more emotional!

I like that Shepard and Anderson have a heart to heart, but it does feel a little contrived considering they're both bleeding out watching the Reapers decimate their fleets. I think it would have been better to have this talk before the final push to the beam, and cutting it out entirely makes Anderson's death feel less impactful. I guess we can add this to the list of good ideas executed badly in Mass Effect 3. I still love the trilogy.

I think it works, because they clearly assume that it's done, that's it, they get to rest now. Actually makes Hackett jolting Shepard out more impacting to me. That "I- what do you need me to do?" sounds so tired and so sad, jumping right up, and this kind of adds to it. Could certainly pare it down here and there, and Anderson dying so fast does have some impact, it just feels kind of a poor way for him to go. At least with this, they finally just get to be people. I mean, definitely your idea over the current way, not that it's bad, it's just so melancholy like this for me.

I swear I got this dialogue, though. Like this EXACT cutscene. The whole thing. Maybe you need to be in a romance? I was a Paragon FemShep in a relationship with Garrus, that's all I can give you.
