Love all the theories and tying them together. Just an FYI: the 4th dimension is accepted by the scientific community as a whole of being "time" that is interwoven with the 3rd dimension "space". Einstein built his career around these. You mention "the watchers" from Marvel which actually comes from the lore in the Bible of beings of the same name. They are supposed to be angels tasked with watching over humans. Angels are often described as beings of light. Interesting concept. I had either totally forgotten or missed the entry regarding the volus. Awesome job! It would be really fun if Bioware expands more on this.

I always just thought the beings of light were ai or vi that were designed in a previous cycle and maybe they were stored somewhere on Klencory. Maybe they have data that could help against the Reapers.

This theory is really interesting! I hope the beings of light are brought up again in the next Mass Effect Game (Mass Effect 5) as well as the dark matter stuff that ME3 forgot about.

Jardaan is probably a cosmic race of energy beings. It's time for Mass Effect to get its own "Precursors". In fact, EA has toyed this this idea in Crysis franchise. Ceph is the multiversal empire that cultivates worlds for excitement.

Whoa, you really notice the obscure and potentially huge stuff! Can I offer a sort of an expansion to your theory? Almost all of the organic races we encounter use DNA as their building blocks and blueprints. The AI and Synthetic races use electronics (most probably semiconductor based). What if these beings of light have evolved to use pure photon structures as their building blocks? This could possibly make them capable of exploiting with ease quantum and electromagnetic effects and maybe relativity physics effects which could make them sort of like the Mass Effect Universe equivalent of the Dragon Age Spirits. What if they were awakened due to the Catalyst activation? And what if the Protheans actually managed to communicate with them? After all, they managed to design the Catalyst, which means that they had some technology that could potentially help them get in touch with the Beings Of Light. Maybe this is why they came close enough to end the cycle. Maybe, even, their contact with the beings of light prevented the Reapers from Reaperising the species, and so the Reapers could only corrupt and enthrall them?

What if the beings of light, are the same or different, versions of The Intelligence created by Leviathans? I mean when it appears, it appears as light, as a kind of projection... So maybe this planet was the origin location of the Intelligence or a different version of it 🤔

The Leviathan Intelligence created it's own AIs to learn and travel galaxy. It is not stated what happened to them. When I first read that codex entry I right away thought about them.

my first thought was that these beings of light could be survivors from a previous cycle, a species that instead tried to escape the Reapers by messing with dimension-hopping but it went horribly wrong - now they're stuck in-between, trying to warn the current cycle but only managing to get snippets out

well toying around with this theory I would probably hint at that Since through Mass Effect Andromeda we are told about the Jaardaan but we are never given a description of them and if they really want to tie the two galaxies together which I think would be extremely massive they could have the Jardaan be these beings of light and through the game play we find out that the beings that created the Angara and the worlds of the Andromeda galaxy also had a major hand in everything that happened in the Milky way galaxy talk about massive such things would be astronomical.

For me this was the same as the Prothean AI, but from a previous cycle. A projection of a person to send a warning to the next cycle and stop the reapers.

We exist in four Dimensions already, or 3 + 1 Dimensions. 3 dimensions of space and 1 dimensions of time.

We are 4th dimensional beings, because we move through time. Sure, it's in a limited capacity, but Shepard's life is not truly tied to time the way ours are. This allows us to dance through Shepard's life essentially at will: saving, reloading, rebooting, and so on. We can even see every possible iteration of Shepard's life and decide which one is "true" for us. We are also only able to meaningfully interact with Shepard's life through a literal projection of light. I mean, I hope they don't go with some very dumb audience insert and say "hey, you are the beings of light", but there's not nothing there for that.

Your theory seems go to go in four directions or extremes. 1 the marvel watcher interpretation in which the beings are passive observers. 2 the halo precursor interpretation in which they are basically living extensions of the universe. 3 star oceans fourth dimensional beings that pull the strings of lower stratum beings like us and treat it as a game. Lastly is 4 stargates ascendants ancients that the beings of light maybe post synthesis lifeforms that overcame their own cycle and reaper equivalent and continued to evolve.

Being of light I don’t take it the same way from what we know in the mass effect universe, my personal take a old ai life form or drone given humanoid shape such as the prothean ai. Was encountered , being a volus the possibility if red sand may have also had a role to play with his vision ( I am a biotic god who are you). But what if the so called will was actually a reaper survivors in stasis (life finds a way) using a planet that would be ignored by the reapers as being to hostile for life or all records destroyed related to the project such as iios being destroyed to protect the survivors. but being half a million years old an insect based they become the new antagonist unable to correlate with the younger races except for the rachni that use voices or wanting to return to ranok and kahje and outer tim worlds , to there race organics were just food

Fourth dimension would generally be assumed to be time. It doesn't in anyway make a fourth dimensional being be able to control 3d beings. They just aren't constrained by linear time. You are inferring a hell of a lot from one short codex entry, there are additional entries for that planet too FYI and they are different. I've watched a vid on that a few years ago.

I'm assuming he is talking about a fourth spatial dimension not time. Having access to a fourth spacial dimension would allow all kinds of things to be possible since they could make things appear and disappear from our perspective as well as interact with the world in ways we would struggle to make sense of. 4th dimensional as is discussed in sci-fi are almost always referring to an extra spatial dimension.

@@Toonlord27 I feel like I should just paste my original reply here, I don't really see what you've suggested that wasn't covered there. Non-linear time would allow for exactly what you described. There is nothing to suggest that it would allow direct control of beings though. As I said, there is a lot of inference being assumed that isn't warranted. The fourth dimension is time, being able to move in and out of what we perceive as time.

"God" and design seems to be a recurring theme in ME. I'll take your theory theory step further. What if Shepard defeating the reapers shook the heavens. Shephard, a man, swayed the destiny of an entire galaxy, something that any celestial being with a stake in cosmic affairs would find alarming.

Personally I'm getting tried of the whole there are beings more powerful out there that say that they were there before the universe it self and how free will doesn't exist and how we were all created for a purpose. We know that they are more older/powerful beings out there that can do thing that would make us humans piss in our pants. But it just seems that is the end goal with all of these sci-fi games that it is becoming a gimmick and that takes a lot out of it especially when they have to include a "chosen one" in it(another archetype that I do not like for many reasons) that will come to save the whole world or galaxy or universe.

To me its likely and old cycles religion at play there wit some sort of device that's able to project visions to compel followers. While it is likely that some sort of 4the dimension is at play here. @Bishop Mccathern yes this is all true. In a dnd 5e mass effect my friend and I merged 40k together. The old ones are love craftian and so are the leviathans. Both mimic one another and have great pysonic powers. Inspite they ironically created the 2.0 necron. Much more for surw

@Bishop Mccathern well of course it would. Humans vs krogan on the worlds they grew up on play factors into their survival. Tuchanka was a former habitable world yet since the krogan nuked it into radioactive waste world. Their bodies learned to adapt to the harsher environments and grew thicker Plating to absorb radiation, natural 240 degree eyes so they can see most predators coming and more. You put the Krogan on the catachan world and they call it a vacation given the fact they love to do rights of passage and would literally fight the ecosystem itself to prove themseleves as warriors. Catachans on Tuchanka would face hazard levels of radiation, animals that stock their prey, can appear from the ground at any moment, the mother of all thresermaws that could theoretically sink entire settlements if provoked. Combine with how little food might come by, hardly any to no drinkable water. It is unlikely they would survive Tuchanka for no more than a few decades which is gracious to give since humans are advise to wear suits of armor and not that flak armour they wear.
