You inspired me to buy some of these & today I went to my local nursery who sell Proven Winners. It was almost empty of plants as we have had frosts & are forecast snow tonight & tomorrow. One of the few plants toughing it out were these alyssum, so I grabbed 6 & can't wait to plant them among my hostas & hellebores in part shade. You always inspire me, Laura. The horrid winter we have had kept me indoors a lot & I ended up ordering lots from Proven Winners site. Can't wait until end of May until they arrive. Am most excited about the galvanized planter you did. I was able to find 2 old square really heavy duty ones from Europe & will fill them as you did yours. Many thanks!

I really like that color. Light enough to brighten up the area, but still have that purple. Nice plant. You're right about keeping the soil moist too.

Last year i put alyssum seed out in my front yard where we dug out a bunch of ivy. I was soo bummed nothing happened but it looked ok because i planted a few other random plants. Well over the winter not only did the seed sprout but it's taking off. I love it!! One of my favorite little flowers that i think helps everything else pop.

I would like to know how to keep a lesson from growing so tall. When you buy it in a flat it seems like did white alyssum in a flat stays low-growing to the ground, but when you plant it yourself seated, it has a tendency of growing tall. It can be invasive it can get into the grass and other flower beds as its else feeds very easily, and it blooms almost all year round in Southern California. It does very good in hanging baskets in Southern California, and if you turn the wires sphagnum Moss upside down, you can plant I listen and let it take off and then turn the hanging basket right side up and it looks very good after a couple of weeks of growing. It gets its roots into the hanging basket very easily. That be careful, it does self-seeding from can get into cracks, walkways, flower beds and Turf. It's very fragrant smelling along the walkway or a patio.

hope to find some of these, they are so beautiful. another bonus is that they are supposed to be deer resistant. well, that's more than a bonus for me, it's a necessity. otherwise they wouldn't survive more than 24 hours. :)
