The OG exploit didn't work in previous versions because Spiders Mines are weird in that they can trigger on cloaked units without conventionally 'detecting' them for other friendlies, which normal SC2 Spider Mines don't do. An issue to fix in Mass Recall was prioritized to emulate that original behavior even though there is basically no other use case except the opening for this map, so... worth it I guess?
@catbertsis2 жыл бұрын
Might be because this would break the missions where you play against spider mines. You don't want Duran to be able to go straight inside the Dominion base in the first mission, etc.
@DioBrando-qi9so2 жыл бұрын
if you think about it with logic, dear jayborino, it makes a lot of sense for spidermines to be able to attack cloaked units. spiders are blind and find their prey only with the vibrations it makes on the ground. so i assume this is also how a spidermine finds the target because otherwise the mine and a spider would have nothing in common. spidermines dont even have 4 legs.

Funny enough, we had a question in the protoss BW campaign about what location we visit the most, and the Xelnaga temple was said, but I believe we visit Augestgrad more. Admittedly we don't really see the exact same location in the city each time, but we do see parts of the same city a lot. We see it in BW T4 T5 Z4, WoL media blitz, HotS the final 3 missions + a mutation mission, and in LotV during the 2 Korhal missions.

I felt so sad that he never bothered repairing the BC. I get that Grant doesn't like them, but having that lone BC over the army providing spotting for the troops and limited air support was rather neat. It seemed like such a nice callback to the opening cutscene of the campaign, as well as the perfect aesthetic of the unstoppable UED advance. It sorta gave actual credence to the idea that the captain was there, personally directing the assault on Augustgrad, as we never get an actual unit of ourselves to play as in the UED, just that cutscene stand in. Though to be perfectly honest, that wraith swarm would've killed it anyways. Actually, come to think of it, I have no reason why this is the thing that stirred me to comment on the first video I have in three months or so. Also an old video. Huh. I guess the BC just gave major vibes.

the AI should have control zones, where they will try to defend an area and rebuild it till you push in, then move back to the next defensible point. if you pull back or they push you back hard, they move back in but not as severely. that seems better than them just throwing endless scvs at building unoccupied bunkers and putting supply depots down next to your army of siege tanks.

So I remember playing OG Starcraft back in the day. Marine + Tank was common, often with bunkers as part of a tank push. The micro was more focused on targeting down units and less on stutter stepping. As a result, the handful of control groups of marines could be stimmed when needed, since you could cycle through, stim, target something big, move on through the control groups. Micro and macro have changed a LOT over the years. Lifted EBays for tank vision instead of scans which were saved for scouting and detection.

Y'know, what would be neat is if in Mass Recall that the UED forces had a slight advantage with their units. I know I know they wanna emulate the OG base-game but they do have things like FPS versions of Installation missions and Heroes with special abilities, so maybe a toggleable UED modifier? Modifiers could be stuff like giving an upgrade from the WoL tech upgrades. Juggernaut Plating for Firebats, Combat Shields (+10HP) for Marines... Fabricators for the Vulture... Goliaths shooting air and ground at the same time. Sort of to show off the UED and how advanced they are and where all that neat stuff came from in WoL for all conventional forces eventually. Is there such a thing? I don't know, I haven't played Mass Recall in years and I stopped after that Terran mission with the Psi Emitter.

@Max-sz9ez2 жыл бұрын
There is an ued mod for brood war. I think jayborino has a playlist for it on his channel. It is kinda fun to watch and play for some time but it gets pretty old very fast because the UED units for example are incredibly busted. Just some examples: - their tanks always deal damage as if they were in siege mode and almost have the exact same range ... except they don't have to siege - Their bare bones marine equivalent has extra armor and a three shot burst gun, they just shred normal marines without issues, hell with medic support you can even just stim ultras and protoss to death since they don't care as much about armor as normal marines. - Their wraith gets aoe valkerie missiles against air and the normal anti air missiles against ground with an upgrade and it is cheaper - They got 2 types of ghosts. First one is the normal ghost but slightly buffed to deal like 2 or 3 more dmf against armored targets and buildings who can use nukes lockdown etc. The second one can only cloak and has a very long downtime between attacks but each of his shots deals like 80 damage (with that it oneshots every terran infantry unit, every zerg tier 1 unit and 2 shots most of the basic protoss gateway stuff) from halfway across the map So yea fun for a few missions but kinda lame in the long run since you are so overpowered, that nothing is a challenge anymore.
@gastonpombo80232 жыл бұрын
@@Max-sz9ez id say you are overestimating the ued they made, that or im just a horrible player, probably the second one, still they are a pretty good example, and imagine something like the uedaip with the mass recall mod
@Max-sz9ez2 жыл бұрын
@@gastonpombo8023 oh it was fun and I would absolutely play something like that in mass recall. I mean most of the stuff was kind of okayish regarding the balance level and could be fixed by simply adding more enemies to the missions making the enemy more aggressive etc. From my experience playing the campaign the 80 dmg sniper is just too much. Get yourself 2 controllgroups worth of those guys and watch them clean house oneshotting almost everything that comes into range from stealth. The only "weakness" are zergling swarms and well you have marines and tanks for that to back them up (well apart from cloaking and running away once there are too many lings) Same goes for their wraith. With the missile upgrade, cloak and them being so incredibly cheap and maneuverable they are just way too good. I am also not too good at brood war but those 2 units in particular turned missions that I struggled a lot with in normal brood war into absolute cakewalks due to their insane deathball potential when massed. I am really looking forward to the new ued "origin story" that is coming for sc 2 have you seen the trailer for that?
@stylesrj2 жыл бұрын
@@Max-sz9ez Yeah I'm aware of stuff like UED AIP, etc. I was thinking of something like WoL tech upgrades for UED units that gives them a slight edge over other Terrans. And it could be a toggle option for the purists.

I think the enemy ghosts only use lockdown once they are revealed because they are coded to avoid detection. But the AI, for some reason, is unable to distinguish between a scan and a unit detecting you. So it just lockdowns a nearby unit when scanned, to try shutdown the detection. They dont use the lockdowns before that because you aren't in a big fight, so locking down priority targets is irrelevant.
